| Miles Davis & Sex Pistols In Hall Of Fame Posted: 1/7/2007 12:19:38 AM | I read an interesting story on how Miles came to develop the ****es Brew Album/cd. He was upset that he wasn't making the money a lot of other modern musicans were making. So while talking to Clive Davis it was suggested he take his sound into a new direction, as far as popularity and greater fortune were concerned. Looks like it worked. | |

| Miles Davis & Sex Pistols In Hall Of Fame Posted: 3/4/2007 11:02:14 AM | taken me a few decades to get into Miles (been listening to Jazz since I was about 7- Glenn Miller and Bix), now almost everything else seems pretty dull and tuneless...Saw a documentary on Miles at the Isle of Wight festival- all made sense after that.
Sex Pistols was just another marketing ploy- but they did have a few catchy songs and went on to be very boring people.......

| Miles Davis & Sex Pistols In Hall Of Fame Posted: 3/8/2007 8:05:28 PM | First of all, you do realize that Stepping Stone is simply a Monkees cover, right?
And as for everyone criticizing the Sex Pistols for being a gimmick, that's a horribly misinformed and a one-dimensional view. John Lydon did the most important thing in rock 'n roll, and he is probably laughing is ass off at being in the hall of fame. He wanted to stop being a rockstar, so he did, he just stopped. Didn't stop him from doing what he wanted, PIL was active for 14 years, but most people wouldn't know that because it was never some huge sort of commercial success. People are calling the Sex Pistols a gimmick in this era of American Idol and Paris Hilton, the irony is thick.
Ya know, if I had enough money, I could probably get inducted into the hall of fame.

| Miles Davis & Sex Pistols In Hall Of Fame Posted: 3/10/2007 8:26:04 AM | I have to say that it's been a long time comiung for Miles Davis. Love his stuff. I've only got Kind of Blue and ****es brew in the collection, but Kind of blue really gives you a look inside the improvisational mind of Myles. WOW!! SOme people are just born with the mojo. Well deserved.... I guess the Sex Pistols have there place in music history as well, just in kind of a different genre. During my "punk" (not to be confused with todays P(op)unk) phase when I was a teenager in the 80's I saw PIL at the concert hall in Toronto. Anybody that can play an entire show amidst a non stop barrage of spit from the front row definitley deserves some kind of honorable mention; or at the very least ...a towel.

| Miles Davis & Sex Pistols In Hall Of Fame Posted: 7/10/2007 1:08:35 PM | Yes, that is what made him so amazing. He could take what he had already done and go forward and take that and go forward. His creativity took him further and further forward. Talk about creative genius, yes that was Miles Davis. If you listen to Paul Taylor you know that he could not have existed if not for Miles Davis. Paul Taylor is excellent and has his own style, but Miles is there in Taylor's music. | |

| Miles Davis & Sex Pistols In Hall Of Fame Posted: 7/29/2007 2:30:07 PM | The Sex Pistols were NOT musicians! They barely knew how to play musical instruments! For that reason and that reason alone - they should not be in the Hall of Fame!!
They were nothing more than a clever money making "vehicle" created in 1977 (The Queen's Silver Jubilee) by Malcolm McLaren sticking two fingers up at the Royals and in turn British tradition!
It "worked" with two successful singles and one successful album! But after that - outside of Punk - none of it meant very much!

| Miles Davis & Sex Pistols In Hall Of Fame Posted: 7/29/2007 9:43:36 PM | | Yeah that is kind of hard to believe about Miles Davis. As for the Sex Pistols - they are more of the landmark for punk than anything over in Europe. Here in the USA - especially the west coast - it was bands like Black Flag, The Germs, Sham 69, Redd Kross, Circle Jerks, and of course - the very first Bad Religion album that had any influence on me whatsoever (also Agent Orange, X, Fear, Alice Bag Band, Catholic Discipline, Los Plugz, and many many others that continued through the 80's/90's and still are around today). | |

You just don't like Punk. It's ok - it probably wouldn't like you much either.

| Miles Davis & Sex Pistols In Hall Of Fame Posted: 9/18/2008 7:37:49 PM | It makes no sense that Miles Davis was inducted into a ROCK hall of fame. The Pistols, that's a hard case to make, also, given the fact that they rebelled against rock music and they ended up boycotting the hall of fame ceremony, as well. Not exactly sure that punk & rock go hand-in-hand, but it is nice to see punk get its due in some way, since there will never be a Punk hall of fame by itself.
Miles Davis is jazz, plain and simple. He has as much right to be in a ROCK hall of fame as Madonna does! I'm suprised that so many genres outside of ROCK are being let in, while so many deserving groups like Canned Heat, Paul Butterfield Blues Band and Country Joe & The Fish to name a few are still out in the cold.
Further, I really don't understand the inclusion of rap/hip hop acts into the ROCK hall of fame, either!

| Miles Davis & Sex Pistols In Hall Of Fame Posted: 9/19/2008 5:53:15 AM | Child of punk here - I was in high school...had some pink and purple hair (heavens)... the Pistols were IT...and - they ended up boring? LOL - tell that to Sid & Nancy...there is the stereotypical sex&drugs&rock'n'roll Greek tragedy love story... | |

| Miles Davis & Sex Pistols In Hall Of Fame Posted: 9/19/2008 7:40:54 AM | | Having recently seen the Pistols I can absolutely confirm that they ARE musicians. They are a very competant band and great showmen. This band are a vital piece of British music history - they gave a stagnant music scene (Led Zeppelin, ELP et al) a good kick up the collective ass. Music in the 70s was all about showing off how many notes you could play at once with no regard to their fans and punk corrected that with a return to simplicity, tunes and energy. We need something like that again today with all the vocal gymnastics that are going on from the likes of Mariah Carey etc. Bring on the revolution! | |

| Miles Davis & Sex Pistols In Hall Of Fame Posted: 9/19/2008 10:44:31 AM | | I dont have a favorite miles davis or sex pistols album, i like all their albums. miles is my favorite jazz artist and the sex pistols are one of my favorite punk bands.. | Miles Davis & Sex Pistols In Hall Of Fame Posted: 9/19/2008 12:22:47 PM | | All due respect to the great works of Miles Davis but WTF does Miles Davis have to do with Rock & Roll? Isn't Madonna already there? Being inducted into the RRHOF these days is meaningless. | |
