| Do women mind single dads with kids Posted: 1/13/2009 6:41:44 PM | | I'm going out with a great guy who has full custody of twin eight year old boy and girl. They are very cute. I've seen pics but haven't met them yet. Hope to. And I have a 19 year old. I don't see the big deal about it. Kids are great. | |

| Do women mind single dads with kids Posted: 1/13/2009 7:46:43 PM | I think single dads are great. They get it! Being a mother of 4 little ones (all from the same dad), men usually run past the hills. It is hard to find someone who can hang with the idea that a relationship might happen and you could end up with 4 great step kids. Not everyone should be a parent- just look at dating a buffet and you go up the table pick o alot of stuff and the second time you just get wha tyou liked and keep going. Just keep your kids out of your dating life until you are sure you will be together for a while. Best of luck | |

| Women Meeting Dads with kids - ages, and age challenge Posted: 1/14/2009 6:55:21 PM | | One thing I struggle with...or at least perceive is that Im 44 and my kids are 4, 5, 10, and 12...and...it seems many women in their 40's have kids who are older than mine. So they dont seem interested in someon with a 4 and 5 year old. On the flipside, someone who has a little ones like mine are in their early to mid 30's and consider me too old. I feel like Im between a rock and hard place. I certainly dont regret my children and there is someone out there for everyone. I guess I wish others would keep an open mind. Regardless of the age of children...young, teen, adult, two people who meet have to know that it's all family. Just my 2 cents. In my case my children are with me haf the time...I wish it was all the time. | |

| Do women mind single dads with kids Posted: 1/15/2009 9:46:15 AM | | I often get the same feeling myself, and the hardest part is that i care for my step daughter too. But some ppl fail to realise that i was there since she was a baby, even though im not her biological dad i am all she has as a father. Well there's that and i couldn't bare to split her and her brother. | |

| Do women mind single dads with kids Posted: 1/15/2009 11:29:59 AM | I am a single mom and have my younger son living with me. If a single dad has 1 or 2 kids that would be fine with me. But more then 2 children seems a bit to much.Since I only have one brother I am just not used to having a huge family. | |

| Do women mind single dads with kids Posted: 1/15/2009 1:56:49 PM | | I dont mind dating a single dad, I like kids. I have a son and am a single parent myself with dating issues because I have a kid. You are not alone. | |

| Do women mind single dads with kids Posted: 1/15/2009 8:14:28 PM | how did she put it tonite: "i had enough of the baby-mama drama in my last relationship, sorry but i want a clean slate".
all i can think of when i hear this is "how silly", and considering how many failed marriages with kids, i think a wise person would want to try and stack the odds in their favour. getting to know someone who is already a parent provides insights into that person's character that, well, simply cannot be determined otherwise.
and on the flip side, yes there are issues that have to be dealt with by the "new" parent but, once again, what a great way to see how well adjusted that person is through their interaction with your kids.
So, all round, its a win-win, and those out there who are turned off by it...well, all i can say is thanks for the quick insight.

| Do women mind single dads with kids Posted: 1/16/2009 3:17:50 AM | | I really admire men that are raising kids on their own,and probably the only dates I have ever accepted since being seperated have been from men that were single dads and we went on kid dates, brought the kids and it was a great time.My daughter's father is non existent in her life and has been such a disappointment to her and to me,that when I see dad's with their kids,it makes me have hope that there are good fathers out there,so I find it attractive and shows their character to me,that they are responsible and a loving parent. If the women you met didn't see this, then they were probably self centered and not worth your time. | |

| Do women mind single dads with kids Posted: 1/16/2009 7:17:58 AM | In the beginning the women were willing to date, they like my profile and picture, but when they learn about my son being autistic they run away from me like a plague. I tried to explain that my son is a mild autistic and a good boy but they do not even want to listen. I came to the conclusion that it is going to be very hard to find a woman that has a heart for children with special needs. So sometimes i put on my profile he has Autism, and sometimes i don't. I don't know if thats the right thing to do. But i am just looking for a dinner date not a wife. | |

| Do women mind single dads with kids Posted: 1/16/2009 8:56:20 AM | I love the fact that men take on that kind of responsibility, there are so many Men and "WOMEN" who don't want that responsibility so for a Man to take it on all by himself (who wouldn't want you)that just shows off alot of your character;shows devosion.:)I am a single mother of three, and my father was a single father of two(very SELFLESS and DEDICATED man he is my #1) and a prime example "that not all men are deadbeat dads".So i apploud you :) | |

| Do women mind single dads with kids Posted: 1/25/2009 10:40:01 PM | Even though all 3 of my daughters are all over 18, the youngest just turned 19. I would not mind dating a single father.
I watch kids now that are 4,10 and 12.. awww the pre teen years.. fun fun.. lol They are my nieces, I do have 1 grandson and another grand baby that is due in early May.
My hats off to all the single parents out there.. Its not easy but the rewards are the best you will have ever experienced in this life time.

| Do women mind single dads with kids Posted: 1/26/2009 12:08:52 AM | I have been trying to find someone who is okay with my situation. I spent 10 years locked in a house and like to get out now. Driving out of town, going for coffee, dancing, ....whatever . I just wish that people would understand that its hard to get someone to watch a kid and then they cancel. I spent all day making plans and then its done. WTH. Also meeting someone that doesn't flee when they hear I have a kid. When I take my child out, All eyes on us. I just feel weird approaching someone with my daughter. What do I do?
So Lost............ | |

| Do women mind single dads with kids Posted: 1/26/2009 12:17:32 AM | | Maybe those women are still sowing some oats. Its such a rare sight, a man actually taking care of his kids. I think if I were to meet a man like that, I'd have a lot of respect for him. I've got one of my own and seem to only meet men who are afraid of kids. | |

| Do women mind single dads with kids Posted: 1/26/2009 6:01:26 PM | Sweet heart, that's the difference between a man and a sperm donor. You care for your children and no one has any right to judge you on that. Obviously these are not women but girls and you don't need that. Like the 25 year old firefighter from Clermont here that refers to children as "baggage". Obviously this firefighter hasn't learn the true value of life and love. Maybe one day when they find themselves divorced with children they will understand what really is to be a single parent. If they are not good enough for your children, they are not good enough for you. That's the difference between a girl and a woman and the difference between a boy and a man.
I would not date a man unless he has children himself. Only that type of man would know the responsibility and would be mature enough to understand nature and life. Good luck to you and no, we are not all alike.

| Do women mind single dads with kids Posted: 1/26/2009 6:06:22 PM | | Take my attitude, don't care about anyone else. As I always say, no one can judge you but your children. Your child will be the one to say whether you have been a good dad or not. I am a single mom of 3 but that will not stop me but make me appreciate the man that accepts me as I am. Believe me, if I can find dates with 3 kids, working full-time, and a lot of other issues, you will be able to date. Just learn one thing, don't make it a drama. That's what really scares men and women. Its your life and your child but it doesn't have to be someone else's drama. Don't let the other people know your drama and act as though you will make it no matter what. My best to you. | |

| Do women mind single dads with kids Posted: 1/26/2009 6:13:46 PM | Back in the mid-90's I ran into the problem where women would find out I was a single parent. Almost every single time, the first thought they had was that I had "knocked up" some gal. Their second thought was that I was almost certainly a "dead-beat-dad" and had run off on him/his mom.
*IF* I got the chance to correct them (usually didn't) they were so surprised to discover I was not only paying more CS than was required, but *she* had divorced *me* because I became disabled. Generally, they found this out second or third hand later and I'd get some strange/lame apology if we ran into each other for their mistaken assumptions.
15 years later though, things do seem to have changed a bit. Now, no eyebrows get raised when women hear that I have a child, that I'm a single parent, or that I'm divorced (or any combination thereof). It has become a norm in our society which the vast majority have accepted.
Now though, I seem to run into where women whose children are old enough to be out of the house don't want to become involved with a man whose child/kids aren't out on their own yet, or who are themselves younger and they have their kids, but don't have a real interest in an older guy (10-15 years) with kids. I certainly understand those situations, but not sure if they've been discussed in this thread previously.
