| The PIC or the Profile Posted: 2/24/2006 10:45:57 PM | | Please do not discount a profile without pics. Even though my own profile is vague, there is a very good reason that I currently do not have a picture posted. Get to know a person in at least a few sentences before making your judgement. The best thing out there for you may not even be visable. | |

| The PIC or the Profile Posted: 2/24/2006 11:24:52 PM | | pic, then what they have to say. Just like "real life" I guess... | |
|
| The PIC or the Profile Posted: 2/25/2006 5:54:38 AM | well if your looking for a conversation on here, then the best thing obviously is to put an attractive picture up (real or fake) because no one's even going to give you a moment's glance if its anything less apparently.
Thats assuming your not here looking to meet up. If just chatting away, then socially starved people will do just that.

| The PIC or the Profile Posted: 2/25/2006 6:23:14 AM | Pic first, but only to get an idea of what they look like. I am not shallow enough to dismiss anyone off a photo. I know I do not have many photos that are solo. And even so, I look like I was run over by a truck anyway. I can live with it.
I enjoy reading some profiles. Some of the profiles turn into "War & Peace" so I just skim them, but really read most of them. I look at the interests to see if we have any in common, then the About me section...
I also see what forums (if any they have been to any). I have found a ton of interesting forums that way.
Lastly I look at the pic again. I have only had one unsolicited email and we had NOTHING in common. I have only gotten about 3 replies to any of my emails.
Seems like nearly everyone on this site is Shallow Hal before meeting Tony Robbins in the elevator.

| The PIC or the Profile Posted: 2/25/2006 7:14:38 AM | ^^^^ case in point the picture gives you the knowledge only that they know how to post a picture onto an online profile. It could be of anyone or anything. A webcam is the best proof at this point without actually meeting.
"... I have only had one unsolicited email and we had NOTHING in common. I have only gotten about 3 replies to any of my emails."
Shows that people don't like to talk to males online. If he were a female he'd be able to add a few zeros to those figures he listed.

| The PIC or the Profile Posted: 2/25/2006 7:36:15 AM | | I'd would say the profile, but usually its the pic that first makes me read it. Occasionally I have seen the odd interesting profile without a pic but there are so many people on here that its not worth my time trawling through countless of picless profiles ... However it is always the profile that keeps me interested ... | |

| The PIC or the Profile Posted: 2/25/2006 9:06:43 AM | .....First I look at the picture than the other pictures.... may later I try to understand what you will suggest on you’re profile | |

| The PIC or the Profile Posted: 2/25/2006 9:32:06 AM | | profile. You could be hot as hell but dumb as a stick. no thanks! | |

| The PIC or the Profile Posted: 2/25/2006 9:42:19 AM | | I always look at the profile, I want to make sure I know about this person before even trying to reach them. Kinda bothers me that people don't take the time to read it. I've took the time to write it, sort of means something, and it's a good way of telling who a person is and what they could be. AS well they would see that I am dating someone and that I'm looking for nothing more than decent chat.. lol Men take time to read profiles.. Please save yourself the shut down. | |

| The PIC or the Profile Posted: 2/25/2006 10:23:02 AM | ca1angel...
This is my second pic on here. And I got the responses... The first, an obviously more recent photo got me zero responses.

| The PIC or the Profile Posted: 2/25/2006 1:11:03 PM | If everyone from POF met up for 'walking along the beach' dates .. at least one country would fall over due to excessive weight on the beaches .. | |

| The PIC or the Profile Posted: 2/25/2006 2:33:54 PM | | I didn't put a picture up for more then 12 mos and met some of the most amazing men.......I think there is something to be said for someone who reads a profile!!! | |
|
| The PIC or the Profile Posted: 2/25/2006 5:30:12 PM | | If you are meeting in the real world it is what you see that will make you think...a good smile and sparkle in the eye catches my attention the most. Online we get a little more with the profile and this will tell you a lot more about the person, albeit short. You do get a "feel" for where the person is coming from and who they are. Personally I put more emphasis on the profile. | |
|
| The PIC or the Profile Posted: 2/25/2006 5:32:18 PM | | Not so anyone can lie through the pretty lil teeth just to type what they think a man/woman wants to hear...what they say isn't always the truth...even talking to them for an extended period of time won't help, some are rather good at lying.. | |
|
| The PIC or the Profile Posted: 2/25/2006 5:53:14 PM | | Read the profile... especially if you post in the forums. Trusting the pic alone can be catastrophic.... lol | |
|

|
| The PIC or the Profile Posted: 2/25/2006 5:56:29 PM | | I look at pics and profiles.. unfortunately most of the people that contact me don't bother to read.. they will look at the pic contact me then get bent out of shape when i tell them i'm not looking to hook up with anyone and I don't meet anyone.. | |

| The PIC or the Profile Posted: 2/25/2006 5:58:51 PM | Conditioning. Like anything else, learning to use a hammer for instance. Keep smashing your fingers long enough and voila' you become proficient in the tools use. Initially I caught the pictures first. Then read what they had to say. Now it's quite the opposite. I tend to be interested in those with all of their restrictions filled with leave me alone. They, I find interesting. | |

| The PIC or the Profile Posted: 2/25/2006 8:15:55 PM | Both. I mean the picture usually gets my attention first- since it's usually all you get to see at the top of the screen, but if the profile is dull or egocentric, I have no interest in looking further. When people e-mail me though, I glance at the pic and really pay attention to the profile and the message. | |
