And I DO have one ancestor from Appalachia - he danced a nice 'buck and wing' which is a version of Scottish flings, I think. Hmm. Umm. Well, I married a Latino -- suckered in by Ricky Ricardo on I love Lucy. Well, guess what? My ex is/was just like Ricky -- and one gets tired of the womanizing. Specially with the STDs the way it is now. But, here's the deal -- I have a freind from Sicily-- and I adore Italian men -- oh wow! -- but I told her I'd go back to visit the Old Country with her next year, see if I could come back with a hot husband - and she told me, Oh, no! Italian men are fun to play with -- but you would never want to marry one....
So, there you have it. And, my friend's daughter --we are middle class Southern folk -- we like buttermilk and cornbread -- is fond of black men. But she dates black men who also like buttermilk and cornbread -- so it's much less of a culture shock than I had with my Latino Cuban. I personally like exploring other cultures -- but when it comes to marriage, I'd like to have one who understands that one keeps a pitcher of ice tea in the fridge all the time, and that one doesn't drink to excess, and that a lady is supposed to be treated like a lady. And my freind who is gay, says the same thing about dating Latino men -- they are too possessive and too much of a run around. He didn't mention Italians -- I could ask. He, by the way, is very much a gentleman. | |

It's quite true, I'm sure, even Americans from certain parts of the country feel discriminated against. I have a friend who's from the mountains of West Virginia. | |

Posted: 12/13/2008 3:32:13 PM | Ok, I HAD to put my 2 cents in on this one. I'm a white american woman with plenty of experience with latin men. I was married to a Mexican for 19 years. HE was an abuser (physically, mentally, and emotionally), and unlike the "latin lover" stereotypes was lousy in bed. I do not believe all latino men are like him. I've met alot of latinos that truly love and respect their women, and the Peruvian man i've been seeing is really good to me.
A man's race or nationality does not determine the type of man he is or what type of companion he will be. White, brown, black, yellow, IT DOES NOT MATTER. Men lie and cheat, and to be completely honest........so do women. | |

Posted: 12/14/2008 5:11:59 PM | I feel sorry for the women who feels that negatively and strongly against Mexican men. There are so many people in Mexico, I tend to doubt that ALL Mexicans act exactly the same.
As for illegals. All the ones I've met are from other countries, NOT Mexico. They were from central and south America. So NO, illegals are NOT all Mexican, and not all Mexicans are illegal. And I'm sorry but it is just ignorant for anyone to believe this.
Just as not ALL American women act the way the one poster described. I know plenty who are very dedicated to family and their men. And when I'm in a relationship I've always treated my bfs like kings, but then I expect the same type of treatment in return. | |

My second husband was a sweet, non argumentive, quiet guy. So its just the one's you meet and how they were brought up. | |

If you can't tell I'm a 100% white woman and only date white men. Am I a racist? NO!
One of my best friends is black, another one is Mexican, Best Man at my wedding is black, have a couple friends from Haiti.
Now would I 'bed' any man except a white man? NO!
Just because we don't out of our race does not make us racists. Grow up and learn the true meaning of words before trying to use them! And while you're at it - pull up your damn pants and quit touching your crotch!! So unbecoming of a male - regardless of where he's from.  | |
