Posted: 7/10/2007 10:06:52 PM | Two people chat for awhile, exchange emails,
and eventually meet. The feelings aren't mutual,
and the scorned person "red cards" the other with a
bogus claim, simply to "get even".
A group or "clique" of posters doesn't like someone.
So they band together to get that person, and probably
others "red carded".
A person is wrongfully penalized by being
"red carded" because of false allegations.
How would you propose to unpenalize them?
Remember by this time, others would have
noticed the "red card" in the individual's profile.
Too late to unpenalize an innocent person.
Since the cases would depend mostly on he said/she said,
and possibly by other's "hearsay". How would the "truth"
be determined? The popularity of the accuser versus the
popularity of the accused? Geography? Hairstyle?
Have alledgedly mature "grown ups" delved so far into
fear, panic, and conspiracy theory, that we all just throw
our hands up and say aloud, "Screw the innocent person
who gets caught up in this. At least we're all safe"?
Yes, safety is a wonderful thing. But so far, I've seen no
mention of checks and balances. | |

Posted: 7/10/2007 10:22:36 PM | Your life is your responsibility. You need to learn to read red flags, set your own boundaries, know what you are looking for. You are suggesting setting up a small totalitarian government. Who are users and abusers? People who've supported everyone else all their lives and feel like they'd like to be treated once in awhile? People with political opinions? People who didn't go for you? People who won't perform on the first date? People who chop 7 lbs off their weight? People someone else lied on. Democracy has a price. You can be spoon fed, but you'll give up a lot of rights.
Who are the losers? People who never had a relationship? Virgins? The handicapped? This is an issue of civil rights. You can't just ban everyone you don't happen to like. | |

Posted: 4/21/2008 12:22:33 PM | I think there might be a problem with *tagging* someone a looser. I recently received e - mails from a member here...after the first introductory he felt I should tell him where I lived...I myself prefer to wait until I am comfortable with the person I am communicating with before I give out that info and as I replied to him.."I did not post it on my profile for a reason". His reply was that he had asked me several times...I was rude because I would not answer and he didn't give a %$% where I lived.
My point is...he probably would consider me a looser and may write a nasty testimonial ...
I think we have all met people who arn't what they seem...(I personally know someone who on another site states he is 5'11"...when he is actually 5'7"..and I see that he has done the same here (LOL)...however...we should not jump into anything without useing caution & common sense! | |

to a bus terminal..............only problem I have not been the first..........

Posted: 5/27/2008 5:25:33 AM | This thread, and these forums, are choked with people of both genders who ignore Red Flags so how would a Red Card change or improve anything?
Reversing the system might have benefits though...
Like, to wake up the 'nice' people who seem to get ignored all the time, to alert the perpetual victims who get 'played' repeatedly.
But would even a Red Hot Poker get their attention? | |

and maybe if a lot of people click ignore on the same person, pof reviews it they do have this on their opening page.
1. We banish anyone who is extremely rude, has anger management issues, uploads fake pictures or is otherwise unfit to date.
If POF doesnt police itself, then why that statement?

If POF doesnt police itself, then why that statement? At the bottom of peoples profiles there's a link you can click on and report someone. But if wrongfully reporting someone then you will yourself be deleted. This site has a cookie tracer. When you log on your user name is already in the user's box, you only have to type in password. So therefore since it has cookie tracers then most likely pof can go back on check on anything thats reported. But as far as starting some kind of red flag system that would not work and it would not be fair. Most likely a great percentage of the time.Who ever was red flagging someone would be the one that really deserved the red flag. Reminds me of the ole saying. There's 2 sides to every story. An they usually don't match.
MSG30 Sue me,, your story sounds like you have a colorful emagination to me. You should be writing for some material for a mystery movie.
