(Msg 1029) they look at me and say why can't i find a girl like you? and i'm like, hello!!! i'm right in front of you!! so it's frustrating being single and knowing that you're gonna stay that way cuz your friends don't see you as anything more....
Have you let them know you are interested in something more? I think most guys will take a chance on a gal if they know she is interested. | |

I used to rush home after work to see her and my daughter, now its just silent.

First off don't take offence to your males friends just seeing you as 'just a friend' it's a sign of respect. I too have alot of female friends and would never jeopadize that friendship with being stupid and asking them out on a date. Meeting for coffee or going to a movie is one thing but never a date. Once you cross the line from friendship to dating, you can almost never go back to being just friends again. Life is full or risks and chances but losing a true friend can be more devastating than a relationship at times. | |

It's not so much that I take offense to it, I know they all care about me in one way or another. Most of the time the problem is that they see me as "one of the guys" and not a girl, which can be very frustrating. I'm not saying that I necessarily want to date any of them, but it would be nice every once in a while to be acknowledged for who and what I am.
Secondly, I have to disagree with you about once you date a friend you can never go back to being just friends. I dated my best friend this past summer. We'd been best friends for five years and I'd been in love with him for three. We finally dated, and he wasn't ready for as serious a relationship as I was, so he broke up with me. It was definitely painful, but we're still best friends, and probably closer now then we were before. So it is possible to remain friends once you try taking a relationship to the next level. I'm sure it happens less than not, but it does happen. Anyway, thanks for the advice, I appreciate it!! | |

We're conditioned to think we must get married - we're ALSO conditioned to think there's gotta be something better out there, or we've gotta become bored with our partner and seek out something/somebody else. So, that's what "we" tend to do. I personally look at the behaviour/mentality of 'society' as a way to decide on what I should NOT do.
My 'developmentally delayed' brother is set to marry this nasty nasty nasty disgusting manatee this summer because he wants to be married because marriage represents some kind of normality. He does not know the mess he's in for with this piece of nastation. He is also probably just afraid of being alone. Poor guy. | |

Posted: 4/5/2006 11:43:32 PM | to answer the question of being single. everytime i talk to someone that is married they want what i have . i think we all want someone nice in our life but after a few weeks/months the true person shows their real colors and then the question resurfaces.. what in the hell am i doing here. i love being single and i have no reason to ever change that. i know there are some people that needs to have someone in their life but i have lived that part of my life and now she has passed away so being single suits me perfect.
