| Balding men Posted: 1/24/2007 3:46:03 PM | | I keep it short. I find bald with goatee you might as well jump on a Harley. In the business circles i travel in I don't see too many shaved heads. I do have a goatee though. | |

Just an honest question so don't shoot/flame me! If a fella is going bald, why would he not just shave it all off as opposed to having the odd tuff of hair here an there??? Bald can be very sexy on a man! So guys, what's your take on this?
this is the topic , please stick to it.
thank you

| Balding men Posted: 1/25/2007 9:10:26 AM | | I think some men may not shave it all off because all bald heads are not created equal. I've seen guys with shaved heads that it looks really good on, and others that just DO NOT. There's likely also some that still just don't like the bald look either through personal taste, or older social standards that equate shaved heads with the negative images of "outlaw bikers" and "skin-heads". Last but not least... it can be more work than it looks like to get a smooth shave and not cut divots out of your scalp!! Not good to shave your head in the morning sometimes if you're in a hurry!! | |
|
| Balding men Posted: 1/25/2007 9:29:03 AM | i have enough divots in my head now from freak accidents sister golf clubs lol another reason im a little worried on shaving my head i may be shaved after feb 10 i am the goalie in a coaches against oldtimer game and if i let in 5 goals it all comes off so hope i have shape for it and a nice wool hat not the time of year to try bald | |

| Balding men Posted: 2/3/2007 4:36:08 PM | I admit i shaved my head by accident well... because of a bad haircut not because i cant grow hair and so many people liked it better i kept it. its cold in the winter but i like when snowflakes land on my head ---> tickles

| Balding men Posted: 2/4/2007 12:52:31 AM | | This may be a little off topic, but here goes. I'm a young man, 25, balding. No worries. I shave it all off, makes me look good, i have a nice shaped head. Anyway, my theory on why some bald men fear that going bald will make them look bad is sort of a circle. Take your average balding, single man. This single man did not want to go bald, he just did. His balding, for some unknown reason, has made him FEEL unattractive. When you FEEL unnatractive it has the unfortunate side effect of making you unconsciously indicate in your verbal and body language that you ARE unnatractive. In other words, you are making people think you are unnatractive because you yourself do not think you are attractive. It's all about confidence. If it helps, when you wake up say to yourself "I am a sexy, sexy bald man. I walk with a confidence. I ooze sex appeal. I am the shit. My manliness is accentuated by my magnificent bald head." | |

| Balding men Posted: 2/4/2007 4:13:51 AM | | I've been balding since my early 30's (thanks Dad). Kept it short, then figured why am I paying to get this cut? No discount, pay the same price as someone with a full head of hair so off it went. I like it better and women seem to as well | |

| Balding men Posted: 2/4/2007 5:57:25 AM | One of my buddies shaved his head for competitive swimming, and then tried to grow his hair back when his swimming days were over ... only to discover, much to his horror, his hairline had receded in the meanwhile (i.e. natural male pattern balding). So, he elected to continue shaving his head.
For the MOST part, the guys I've encountered who shave their heads are those who lack confidence/self-esteem - they can't admit they're balding/aging - thus, they shave as a pre-emptive strike. HOWEVER ... there are some Rambo's who shave their heads because they think it makes them look tough (their excuse is that "it's for personal hygiene in the field" ... sheeyah, right ...) - and, to continue off on a tangent for just a moment longer: In Afghanistan the elders didn't respect or trust youngsters who shaved their skulls, but I would receive compliments from complete strangers for my bushy moustache ... but, I digress ...
Personally, my hairline started to recede when I was 14 - I can remember going to the dermatologist when I was in high school - I still thank him for giving excellent counsel: Don't worry about things you can't control - sometimes it's impossible to postpone the inevitable, and to attempt to do so can even backfire (can you say "comb-over" ... ?) He said: Grow, and age; naturally, calmly, gracefully. And so, I have. (Footnote: And, yes - when I've got stupid random hairs growing in the middle of no-man's-land ... I tell the barber to crop them close, rather than look like something that's been mouldering in the refridgerator too long ...)

| Balding men Posted: 2/4/2007 6:45:59 AM | | Hey Wombat don't blame Dad for going bald. The baldness gene reportedly comes from your Mother believe it or not. So Dad is off the hook for this one. | |

| Balding men Posted: 2/4/2007 6:49:10 AM | Here are some findings of a recent online survey of 1500 adults 18 -54. * Shaved heads have gained in popularity over the past few years Overwhelmingly, people agree that you see more men with shaved heads today than you did ten years ago (86%). In fact, 5% of men say they themselves had a shaved head five years ago; today that number has doubled to 10%. * Shaved heads are seen as "cool" and "sexy" Asked to choose which words best describe how they think a shaved head looks, almost three in ten people (27%) say "cool." Following closely, 26% think a shaved head is "neat." One quarter of Americans think a shaved head is "sexy" looking (24%), and one fifth call it "stylish" (20%). Young women (ages 18-34) are particularly likely to find shaved heads attractive with 36% calling them sexy and 32% saying they are very cool. Three-quarters of women say that most women find men with shaved heads sexy. In fact, women strongly prefer a shaved head to a balding one or one that tries to hide behind artificial hair. Eight in ten say they would rather "rub a shaved head than run their fingers through a toupee or hair piece." Further, balding men should take note: most people feel that men who are balding should shave their heads rather than go for the "comb over" look. * Men with shaved heads are admired for being confident and masculine; they are not seen as weak, old-fashioned or arrogant Men with shaved heads are perceived as being confident by a majority of Americans (52%), who name this as the characteristic they most associate with men who sport this hairstyle. Just under half of Americans (45%) say that the characteristic they most associate with shaved-headed men is masculine. Three in ten think of these men as daring (30%) and one-quarter associate being powerful (25%) with having a shaved head. In contrast, weak, old-fashioned, and arrogant are the attributes least likely to be associated with shaved heads. Over half (52%) say weak is the characteristic out of fourteen that they least associate with men with shaved heads, followed by old-fashioned (43%) and arrogant (31%). Women are more likely than men in the same age group to consider shaved-headed men to be confident, masculine and daring. * The original Kojak is the most famous bald character. When people think of a man with a shaved head, either a real person or a made up character, the most famous TV personality that comes to mind is Telly Savalas, or the original Kojak, named by one-third of Americans (32%). "Mr. Clean" comes in a distant second, named by 8%. Not surprisingly, older men and women mention Telly Savalas/Kojak more: 40% of 35-44 year olds and 53% of 45-54 year olds mention Kojak. | |

| Balding men Posted: 2/17/2007 8:12:54 AM | | i have been shaving my head for over ten years now, well before the hair line started creeping back. it used to be cheaper than buying all that crap needed for styling. now however with the price of all the fancy razors out there it can be just as expensive. i want to start a hair club for men with the gaol being how to go bald so i do not have to shave my head every other day. | |

I walk with a confidence. I ooze sex appeal. I am the shit. My manliness is accentuated by my magnificent bald head
There really isn't much sexier on a man with a freshly shaved scalp... I have thirsty fingers and the sensual touch of such greedy fingers massaging a bare scalp is very ... very hot!
Shave it baby... right to the wood!
|
| Balding men Posted: 2/26/2007 1:23:22 PM | | Why thank ya Lohki. From those of us who shave our tops to the wood!!!! | |
|
| Balding men Posted: 2/26/2007 1:41:24 PM | Shave it? Why? It's falling out on it's own! Why hurry it along! I have a scar on my head, so I have to be careful cutting or trimming or shaving. Maybe one of these days I'll shave it all off and see what it's like. But not today...
By the way, the baldness comes from my mother's side of the family, my father had lots of thick, red hair.
|
| Balding men Posted: 2/26/2007 1:57:57 PM | | smooth heads are definitely sexier then having a piece of hair here or there on the top of your head! | |
|
| Balding men Posted: 2/26/2007 2:06:41 PM | ^^^ @ "here and there pieces of hair" .... Oh definitely, smooth heads are kewl. Even Jack Nicholson has a smooth head now if you watched last nite's The Oscars. He looked hot.... hot..... hot.....and much younger too. | |
|
| Balding men Posted: 2/26/2007 2:12:03 PM | Well, I have to speak from experience here. Once it gets past a certain point it's much better to just use clippers every week. Shaving your head makes it feel like rubber.
One other beneift is ease of care. Alsways look clean - and don't waste time blow drying the skull after a shower!
Dave
I think I run faster now too...
|
| Balding men Posted: 2/26/2007 2:39:46 PM | I'm going bald and I shave my head...and I love it...ladies seem to like it too....which is doubley good!!
I agree though....if your balding....just shave the sucker down!
|
| Balding men Posted: 2/26/2007 4:41:09 PM | Going bald a bit looks great on a lot of men. As long as the balding is natural and the man does not try to Donald Trump it. Men who are going bald are extremely sexy.
Men who shave their heads as they grow bald are equally as sexy. A bald head has driven me wild since i was in highschool, as long as he has some hair on his face.
A man with a full head of hair is still damned sexy..It's as sensual to put you fingers through a full head of hair as it is to caress a man with a shaved head.
Give me a man with a full head of salt and pepper hair, or a half a head of salt and pepper hair, with some salt and pepper facial hair..I'm toast
|
| Balding men Posted: 2/26/2007 8:29:56 PM | ^^^ Hmmmm.... I am going to be seeing you soon right?
*Edit* VVV Hmmmm.... I am going to be seeing you as well, very soon, right? Right?

| Balding men Posted: 2/26/2007 8:50:50 PM | bald men are definitely sexy.....yummy....delicious......scrumptious......delightful.....handsome......kissable......and did i mention sexy too?

| Balding men Posted: 3/2/2007 10:46:50 AM | I thought about shaving, but what stopped me was, thinking if I didn't like the look, how long would it take to grow back, or worst yet would it grow back??? lol | |
|
| Balding men Posted: 3/2/2007 11:03:24 AM | Do what some guys do...............wear a baseball cap all year round!
EDIT: VVVVV Angel | |
