How does you having a "master" - as you call it - have anything to do with racism in the dating world? Unless you are talking about, "yes masta!"
Lol... you may be right. But construction workers being stereotyped is just as damaging and bias as any other form of prejudice, hence, racism and my comments do correlate.

| Racism in the dating world Posted: 12/9/2007 4:41:18 PM | | well people are not going to be attracted to every type. to be honest i am not attracted to black men or asian men or what have you. I do not hate blacks or asians i am just not sexually stimulated by them. I am just not attracted. Just because someone only dates within their own race does not mean that it is racism | |
|
| Racism in the dating world Posted: 12/9/2007 4:52:42 PM | First of all, I think the word "racism" is waaaaay over used in our society. Every time someone or something feels ignored by a group of different ethnicity, it is labeled at racism. I don't buy into that.
Secondly, being ignored by another ethnic group in selecting a date (in real life or in cyber dating) is about PREFERENCE ... not race. I am an Asian and I'm sure that I've been overlooked by many non-Asian women. Are these women racist? or do they simply prefer someone with similar features? How about those Caucasian men or women who prefer African Americans? Are they racists? Not necessarily. I dated a very "white" girl who preferred guys with darker skin than her ( including me) because she doesn't like her paleness. What about the women who prefer men over 6"? Or the men who do not like BBW? What does that make them? How is that compared to racism?
Speaking for myself as an Asian ... I often begin or incorporate my email with: "you can't have a Causasian without ASIAN". This was meant to be humorous but perhaps it's not that funny I've lived in the U.S. for almost 40 years. The only thing Asian about me is my face BTW, my ex is a Spanish/Cuban from NY and my most recent LTR was with a very lovely Caucasian lady.
Lastly, I do believe that there is a lot of prejudice in dating ... by that I mean Pre-judging! We THINK we know something about another group or person. But, let's be honest, we ALL do it at one time or another. If you don't think you perjudge ... think of the first words that come to your mind when I say "guests of Jerry Springer". Don't get me wrong ... I'm not saying that the pre-judgement is necessarily the wrong judgement. I'm just saying that it is a (PRE) judgement before spending time to review the facts*.
There is enough real "racism" in this country without dragging it into the cyber dating world
*In the case of Jerry Springer Show ... maybe you don't need any facts ... they speak for themselves

| Racism in the dating world Posted: 12/9/2007 7:09:28 PM | IROCKY, I agree with you! Seems as though the word racism was used in the title to draw attention to it!
I am probably agreeing with you on your thoughts of Dirtybeaver as well....

| Racism in the dating world Posted: 12/9/2007 7:25:55 PM | | There are people who generally aren't attracted to a certain race. There is nothing wrong with that. However there are some other people who won't date a certain race due to a certain stereotype or bad experiences. Then they will try to hide that by calling it a "preference". | |
|
| Racism in the dating world Posted: 12/9/2007 8:25:47 PM | | OP -- holy cow. Where are you reading or seeing this? I've seen plenty of attractive women from every race on earth. That doesn't mean that I dislike black women or asian women just because I like brunettes or redheads. | |
|
| Racism in the dating world Posted: 12/9/2007 10:28:20 PM | Maybe we could put this conversation to rest if we'd all just accept the fact that there is no biological basis for the concept of "race." In other words, "races" do not exist. I think that if we all just mixed together, maybe the world would be a better place. | |

| Racism in the dating world Posted: 12/16/2007 11:12:25 AM | all i know is i swear i get a totally different vibe from asian women overall in VA as compared to growing up in OK. it was nothing to date an asian woman back home and it was usually a chinese, korean, or japanese. while here i have seen countless stereotypes no matter how i dress or act. lol maybe it's a beach mentality vice a simple living thing since we have no special things surfers and all. i do know that certain things in me have to be looked at but wow check the prof that all true and all me. like is used to have listed sun tzu, izo, tao of jeet kune do and IT'S NOT A FAD IT'S MY WAY. Guess i can be called a traditionalist i do understand that im just 25, 5'11", 160 lbs and still building upon my project. | |

| Racism in the dating world Posted: 12/16/2007 11:28:30 AM | and the problem with racism is ppl always saying race when there is no separation of races because we're not so divided to develope differently. we all are exposed to the exact same things because there's all kinds of nationalities on every continent and corner of the world. really certain animals shouldn't be bread together because a full blood pekingese and a full blood collie shouldn't be bread together but a human is a human. there are fish that can not mate with other fish and so on. the race that we think we carry is really just nationality and do we hate my cousins for being white, black, and indian? do we steer away from me as black even though i am black(portugese), cherokee indian, and my grandpa is pale as hell but i wont hate him. my dad, mom, and all literally, all have long curls if they grow it all out. my hair gets such a way that im always mistaken for an east indian plus when my ship travels, middle eastern people confuse me as arabic or something and a muslim! so i really do ask even with a fairly pointed nose and all the above how would i be placed as just a black man with HIPHOP and all that! | |

| Racism in the dating world Posted: 12/27/2007 10:30:14 PM | This conversation on race is really a waste of our time. The bottom line is..... We are all a part of the same race and that race is Human. The true issue here is the differences between ethnic groups. These differences are based on sociological and economic issues. We are fighting for a piece of the pie. Some groups get more. Those with less want more and there the problem lies.
In the "dating world" we are attracted to those physical attributes which we feel are compatible. For some the color of a person's skin is a factor. That does not necessarly make the individual a racist. It's just their personal preference.
As for me I like attractive women. I do not care if she is White, Black, Hispanic, etc. The only thing that turns me off are large women.
so its not race, is just personal preference.

Yes it does.
It's just their personal preference.
No it isn't and that's a copout.

| Racism in the dating world Posted: 2/23/2008 10:55:42 AM | I think as a black woman, you encounter more openly expressed racist attitudes and negative stereotypes from black men than anybody. To hear many of these men tell it, black women are all loud, fat, crazy, uneducated, lazy golddiggers who seek to have kids out of wedlock. But then these same men will date non-black women with some or all of the above characteristics with no problems.
Apparently Tyra Banks is doing a show on this very issue on Monday 2/25.
Although non-black men hold some of the same stereotypes. black men, who's mothers, sisters, aunts and other relatives are black women, should really know better. But that's just my 2 cents.
Otherwise, it's a grab bag, Some people are indeed racist, others have weird fetish ideas or curiosities about people of other races, and others still will see you objectively as a human being who happens to be of another race.
As for me, any stereotypes that I personally hold have more to do with culture than race. In my experience, certain cultures have distinctive ideas about women and race that do not positively jive with my racial identity or my ideas about a woman's role in society.
"white men: loves all women except black, but is more drawn to asian women due to their so-called submissive nature."
Don't know about this one. I am not attracted to submissive women. Too boring. I'm Irish. I need a strong headed woman that isn't scared to put me in my place. Although I will say I have dated a few asian girls and was not very happy. Nice to be around, but they didn't get my inner fire going. I definitely prefer women from strong culture.
My sister married an Irish guy; they are so compatible it's as if they were cut from the same mold.
As for Asian women, I don't understand why so many men view them as being submissive. Most Asian women that I know are incredibly strong, don't tolerate nonsense, and will thoroughly upbraid a man in public if necessary.

| Racism in the dating world Posted: 2/23/2008 11:28:48 AM | i haven't noticed this myself...where i come from most people are pretty well open minded and open to different types of races and personalities...but if anyone really thinks this way oh well why should anyone else care...be lucky you know before meeting them...just ignore them and go on with life...even though apparently if you have a preference not to date outside of your race it makes you a racist... that is the most pathetic thing i have ever heard of been told...and makes the one saying it have issues that need to be worked on... since all have preferences well i guess we're all racist in are own way according to some...so its no win situation.. | |

I have come across a number of your posts. Not only are you really attractive. You seem really sweet. It's hard to believe you would even need a site like this. Trust me, if you were White, you would have been scooped up LONG ago. I do wish you all the best and I do hope that you find a really nice man who is worthy of you.

| Racism in the dating world Posted: 10/22/2009 7:51:56 AM | | Blame that on the White bull-****ing shit media. I'm arab; the only time you see us "terrorists" is on CNN! I swear to god if you put an arab on Orange Country, OC,The hills etc, THE WHOLE ****ING SHOW WILL GO BANKRUPT in a week. TO STOP RACISM YOU MUST DESTROY THE MEDIA THAT POLLUTES THE SOCIETY. Even our own kind is more attracted to white people now. Their is this standard beauty that revolves around white people. *BLUE EYES ARE MORE ATTRACTIVE (WHITE REVOLVANCE, *CHISLED FEATURE ARE MORE ATTRACTIVE (WHITE REVOLVANCE)* LIGHT SKIN IS MORE ATTRACTIVE *(AGAIN WHITE REVOLVANCE) I dont blame the Irany government for filtering out white media.White media corrupted people everywhere (THANK YOU JEWS, who own like 90 percent of the media) Why wont you guys help out the starving black people in Africa with your trillion dollar economy. That shit you see on TV about people helping African children is miniscule! How about the Palestinians who are getting ****ed by the Jews?? Anyone care for them? WHO CARES! THEYRE AAAAAA-RAB!.. they arn't human right? We have blood, flesh and bones. WE ARE ALL EQUAL! | |

| Racism in the dating world Posted: 10/22/2009 8:15:00 AM | | We are at a point in history where we need to move away from all of these stereotypes. For instance what is a black man. In the US, Colin Powell is considered a black man. In South America he would be considered white. A white man, if hispanic would then be considered Latino, yet a white man could be many things and all different. What if he is from Greek descent, or dark like the Sicilians? What if he is from Turkey or from Norway. All very different. Same thing applies to Asians. Filipinos are so different than Vietnamese, and they are so different to Korean, Chinese or Japanese. | |
