Of course I'd date a veggie/vegan guy since I'm a vegan and nothing could be more perfect than that. :)

Jack Sprat could eat no fat
His wife could eat no lean.
And so between the two of them,
They licked the platter clean!

Would not bother me at all, quite frankly..i'm one of the most picky eaters, and I don't eat much meet myself. Mostly chicken, AND it has to be ULTRA TENDER and not chewy at all. Chewy meet is gross, lol. I eat meat that well, doesn't taste like meat at all. I'm also anemic as I fail to follow a "vegetarian" diet either. I eat unhealthy, blah...

I myself went vegetarian about 5 years ago. I read much about the farming industry and how most meat on the grocery store shelves is tainted with antibiotics and steroids.
I feel healthier, lost a little weight, never tired, and I haven't even suffered as much as a common cold or been to a Doctor since that time. I drink almond and soy beverages as opposed to cow milk. Meat is in the acidic food groups, and 90% of most people suffering from cancer have high acidic blood counts. You need to alkaline your body to maintain a PH level of about 6.0-7.0. Parasite, kidney, liver and colon cleanses every 6 months are most beneficial to ones health as well.
Fact: if we used the farmland to grow food for humans as opposed to feed for animals for meat, we could grow enough food to feed people in starving 3rd world countries.

I PREFER to date a vegan or vegetarian. They are typically much more compassionate, kind, caring, healthy, intelligent, and non-obese compared to meat eaters. =D

sure i would, i don't eat meat much either

the only hesitation i'd have dating someone who was a vegan, vegetarian, would be if they were so anti-meat that they were closed minded toward those who did.. i don't enjoy being around intolerant people, whichever *side* they're on, whichever subject... (...and now i sound intolerant, hehe)

I still eat meat but I try to avoid it if I can(cheese too). I prefer fruits, vegetables, grains and protein suppliments if I can, although I can't stand tofu and soy milk.

I have a habit of always making an effort of eating everything that's in front of me as to not waste though, so I couldn't really turn it down if it was on my plate either. I hate wasting food.

I consider myself to be about 80% vegetarian, does that still count?

Last LTR I had, the guy was not vegan, but respected my beliefs. We kept the house vegan, and he ate meat when we went out, or at lunch at work, etc. Of course, 3 months later, he was feeling so much better he went totally vegan!
It's not as hard as people think, and if you read anything about factory farming (for example, Jerome Robbins' Diet for a New America), I think you would find it enlightening. I couldn't get through more than the first few chapters.
It's also has a huge impact on the environment, including water use, which is becoming more critical.
Read up a little before you decide NOT to live vegan!

I am the least commando vegan ever, and never make comments or judgments. I answer questions, but do not preach at people. And I think I'm a pretty typical vegan.

But in the long run, it would be very, very hard to have a house that smelled like bacon or crabs or something. Cheese or something packaged, I could get used to. But I think I would not be happy with things like raw steak or whole chicken in the fridge or on my plates.

Too bad veggie dating sites have such a dearth of guys.

So what do you guys think? Is the "keep vegan in the home and I will never judge what you eat outside the house" a reasonable compromise??

Msg 1,

I probably couldn't date a Vegan or Vegetarian. I would be too tempted in trying to corrupt her, slipping some meat in here and there. Way back, when I was in school, one of my roommates was vegetarian. I cooked-up this amazing shrimp dish that I could never duplicate again. It was cooked with tomatoes and smoked gruyere cheese, and one bite would make you tear with joy. I never offered her any, she just grabbed a shrimp and ate it. Simple as that! My mouth waters just thinking of that dish.

Msg 90,

Did someone say commando?

Mostly true, but my vegetarian is "a few extra pounds"
It can work if only one person is vegetarian, but it can make living together pretty challenging

No. Why should the meat eater have to give up his/her foods just because you don't eat them??? How about you each eat what you want without ridiculing or judging or trying to change the other?

Your attitude is one reason why I'm not really interested in vegans/vegetarians. You want it YOUR way, when it is YOU who is the "abnormal" one. Humans are, by nature, omnivorous, which means we eat both meat and plant life. If you want to veer from that, by all means do so, but don't expect people to cowtow to your preferences to the point of not eating meat in their own home.

To the person who mentioned weight, there are lots of fat vegetarians. There are also lots of compassionate meat eaters.

Wow! That was a bit....angry....
I think it's less having it my "abnormal" way (and I'm not even going to discuss the millions of people who are veg because of religion), and more about "common denominator" foods. For example, what if you fell in love with someone who was diabetic, or had a food allergy such as to peanuts or wheat? Or, to take it outside the food area, someone who didn't like roller coasters or absolutely clashed with one of your family members or friends? How would you handle it? Would you say, "You're abnormal, we're doing things my way because I'm right?" Or would you stick with common denominators, and do the other things on your own time?

YES!!! I may be biased since I am a vegetarian myself but whatever. I've only been vegetarian for like 3 months, but I live with my sister who's been vegetarian (almost vegan) for 18 years. So it's never bothered me, and I spent 18 years listening to all the gross mean things they do to animals to make meat. Honestly I think haveing a b/f vegetarian would've gone easier on me than the sister. But either way as long as you really like the person and get along, who cares what they eat?
