| about average build????? Posted: 12/16/2005 8:34:33 AM | Depends on how I am thinking of myself at the time .... I am 6'2" and scales say 285 ... but i think they lie ... so I put either average or a few extra pounds ... now you are thinking "how is THAT average?" ... because I wear it well .... I don't LOOK as big as I am .. therefore ... average .....
And Lady ... 5'7" and 135 after 9 kids ...... I would say you are tiny .... or just BELOW average .... but thats just my opinion ... for what its worth ....

| about average build????? Posted: 12/16/2005 11:30:37 AM | Its all in the eye of the beholder in my opionion.
I have looked into this before and there is a huge difference in medical standards of average and what regular people concider average. By medical standards a girl who is 5'2 should weight 104 - 137 lbs. Where as the people choice for average weight for 5'2 is 152 lbs... big difference!!
here is the Url for the site .... http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm
So I say as long as you can fit into regular clothing sizes and not plus you are average.

Posted: 12/16/2005 2:04:31 PM | I absolutely must fes up (just found out my actual weight) I am 11 lbs over my profile Fortunatly its all muscle Only a very small amount ended up between the ears... Average in most in US singles ads still seems to be at least 15-25 lbs over ideal...

Instead, I settled for average.

| about average build????? Posted: 12/16/2005 3:05:16 PM | Average these days is definitely heavier than it was 30 years ago. I am amazed at how many fat kids there are whenever I go to one of my children's school functions. What passes for "average" these days would have been considered fat back in the 60's and 70's. If you have any doubts, pull out an old year-book and start looking at the pics...
It also seems to be the same with the adults. Ever sit at the mall and just do some people watching?? We definitely aren't on par with most European countries. Too much TV, too many "supersized" portions, and too many people having fries with that... Want a 32oz coke too? Ugghh

| about average build????? Posted: 12/25/2005 10:19:33 AM | | I put few extra pounds but it might as well have been average, since nowadays having a few extra pounds is average. It's unhealthy average, not ideal weight chart average. I think average is supposed to mean you're not overweight or underweight, but not buff or athletic, either. I'd love to find someone with a very well-defined, toned body who doesn't care that I am blob-like in comparison. But I know that probably won;t happen. Maybe my sparkling personality and sense of humor could make up for the difference in appearance. Then again, maybe not. I know I feel more comfortable getting naked when we're at about the same level of attractiveness. But I wouldn't let that stop me... | |

| about average build????? Posted: 12/25/2005 11:03:36 AM | | I think the whole measuring scale is totally inaccurate....like someone mentioned already theres alot of factors involved that changes the average chart standard. I checked out my weight and hight and stuff on the medical chart and you know what it said?? It said I was "Morbidly Obease" now the classification of mobidly obese is basically someone who is prone to organ failue..someone who can not move about and is pretty much bed ridden you know like the TLC program about the one ton man. Now I have to ask anyone here to look at my profile and you will see my pic playing the bagpipes which shows a good portion of my body....I'm not even faintly close to being classed as morbidly obease....its all in your bone structure and how the weight is distributed..I'm not fat I may be borderline "Few extra pounds" maybe....but to label yourself with this title behind a computer everyone thinks the fat is just hangin off you in rolls. I haven't seen anyone yet who wasn't shocked when I tell them my actual weight because normally people my weight are FAT with a capital F. I'm basically WWE Wrestler size or the size of your average football player not quite as toned but thats my shape. So ya don't really know untill you actually meet someone and put it all in a visual for yourself. | |

| about average build????? Posted: 12/25/2005 12:29:54 PM | | I often wondered about this question, and found that over the last year I have changed mine. In the last year I have lost over 100 lbs and have dropped to about 12% body fat but I don't know if it is just my perception of my self or societies, buy I only figure that that is average, I am not sure when that will go to the next level of actually being fit. The nutrionist I work with told me when I hit 14% BF that I was now considered healthy. Which was one of the best things I could have hoped for. | |

| about average build????? Posted: 12/25/2005 12:38:43 PM | | ok, I checked out the website about Ideal weight. If I go by that site I would be dead. It tells me I should be about 188 lbs. I have a laser test done with my nutritionist and my lean weight, which is muscle and organs and bones, is 187 lbs. that would only leave me with 1 pound of fat the suppy all the energy to live. | |

| about average build????? Posted: 12/25/2005 12:42:16 PM | | Ladies....average weight DOES NOT mean I'd find you grazing in a field. Most of you who state that you're average...ARE NOT average! You don't put xtra lbs. in your profile cuz in your mind you know that you won't get as many responses. Also....xtra lbs. DOES NOT mean 40 lbs. overweight! Don't tell me what I want to hear tell me the real world. | |

| about average build????? Posted: 12/25/2005 6:06:59 PM | This ALSO applies to men.
I see AVERAGE body in the profile with either old pics or headshots and when you meet in person he looks like he's about to give birth. Total turn off!!! It is hard for me to get over this and takes a few weeks or dates to decide if this is something that I could somehow deal with. If a guy lets you know they are overweight it is one thing. But to see average on the profile and you meet in person and he looks like he is hiding twins, well it brings up other questions about their personality; honesty, integrity, etc.
Average I consider loss of the ol 6 pack, can pinch an inch or two. Somebody with a spare tire to spare is a few extra pounds, but if you got more than 20 lbs extra padding that is heavyset or overweight to me.

|
| about average build????? Posted: 12/25/2005 9:41:12 PM | | Well I think average is what most people are when they look like most of the other people around them. Average don't stick out as skinny, are to fat. They just fit in, and don't stand out. I think that is the smart answer. | |

| about average build????? Posted: 12/25/2005 10:58:12 PM | Sorry, but I have a hard time with a 36-40" waist and a 50" belly on a guy as being classified as average. General rule of thumb is if you can wear a shirt untucked and there's a bulge at the belly you are not average. If you have to pull your pants down or lift up your dewlap to reach the snap you are not average.
Why people can't tell it like it is is beyond me as when you meet a person they are going to find out. If the person doesn't like fat, skinny, etc in a profile and they meet you in person I can guarantee they aren't going to like it when they meet you in person. So why waste the time???
I personally would rather say it like it is and have somebody pass on my profile than to find out in person that he has no interest in my body type and also thinks I am a liar or tricked him into meeting me by saying I was built differently than I am.
