Just my opinion but
average=love handles and a little jiggly A few extra pounds=3 or more belly rolls athletic=better see some abs to back up that statement
Sounds about right - when it doubt post your actual weight in your profile, there is no confusion than.

| about average build????? Posted: 12/26/2005 4:36:09 AM | | I guess everyone has their own opinion and perception of themselves. Or they don't mind lying. I have met a few men who put average on their profile, yet were at least 30 lbs. overweight. I know some people who put a few extra lbs, and it was 50-100 extra. I have talked to men who were afraid to meet me(I have a few extra lbs in my profile), because they had met women who were over 200 lbs who had said a few extra lbs. Guess people like to think "I'm not that bad" no matter what they weigh. Don't think women do it more than men. Guess everyone hopes that they matter more than their weight. And what about the people who worry that they are too thin? Are they average? Agree with what was posted. Different people carry weight differently. My girlfriend is 5'4, weighs 170, and doesnt look overweight at all. Average encompasses a whole range of body types. | |

Sounds about right - when it doubt post your actual weight in your profile, there is no confusion than. That is not real accurate either. 5 years ago when I was obsessed with working out, I was 25 pounds heavier than I am now, one size smaller in the waist and under 10% body fat. I have not worked out in a few years, but was carefull not to balloon up. I would like to get my body fat back down, but going to do it without lifting this time around.

Joined: 7/5/2005 Msg: 30 view profile about average build????? Posted: 12/17/2005 5 37 AM Its all in the eye of the beholder in my opionion. I have looked into this before and there is a huge difference in medical standards of average and what regular people concider average. By medical standards a girl who is 5'2 should weight 104 - 137 lbs. Where as the people choice for average weight for 5'2 is 152 lbs... big difference!! here is the Url for the site .... http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm So I say as long as you can fit into regular clothing sizes and not plus you are average.
Damn that website says that under peoples choice i am 20 pounds over weight and the BMI says i am obese --- time to cash in the gym membership and buy beer and chips instead hahahahaah NOT

| about average build????? Posted: 12/26/2005 9:09:05 PM | At 5'11" and 215 lbs i thought i was 'average'. However, the charts an "tooindependent" both say that i'm not. I guess i need to lose 15 or so.
As to the ladies, if they are not skinny but still 'look good' then they are average.

| about average build????? Posted: 12/27/2005 12:32:16 AM | Went to http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm
I am 5ft7 and 135 lbs and a 42 yr old female
It says Peoples Choice Ideal Weight is 132 lbs and Medical Recommendation is 121 - 160 lbs and that my current Body Mass Index is 21.1 kg/m2 and that the recommendation is based on a Body Mass Index (BMI) range of 19-25 and Medical evidence suggests that all body weights within this range are reasonably equally healthy (for people of your height). Outside this range, health risks may occur.
So I guess I am average | |

| about average build????? Posted: 12/27/2005 4:42:18 AM | Actually this is a good point. I was perusing profiles the other day and realised that *I* had put average for myself at 5'8, 145lbs....and a VERY great number of the "average" fem's I was seeing were a goodly bit larger than that.
Seemed kind of odd when they DO have the option "a few extra pounds".

| about average build????? Posted: 12/27/2005 1:24:44 PM | | Average weight is overweight in America. Others weigh themselves on the moon. The scales are more accurate in Canada. Actually, I see thin and fit girls in Canada say they are average. Someday, once global warming kicks in a little more, I might move there. | |

| about average build????? Posted: 12/29/2005 4:49:07 PM | Lol .. Ldygrnr.... you are probably average but then average is probably the most subjective term of all.... What is average... well... its what you get when you take everyone and add them all together then devide by the number of people . In america all the surveys say that the Average person is 10 - 15 lbs. overweight and getting heavier. ... so ... that's a bit scary when you go above average and add a few extra lbs. taking the fact that a few... to most people is probably another 10 - 15 lbs... so now you have 20 - 30 lbs over weight. still. I went to see a girl listed as a few extra lbs. and wholy wholy ... a few squared was more like it... so now I think actual height weight and bone structure along with toned or not toned would we better, if you can't post full body pictures in spandex.
Woooooo ... wait.... I think I don't want to see alot of you in spandex and you probably wouldn't want to see me in spandex either.
I used to be athletic but now with age and being 6' ½" and 190 lbs. I feel I fit the few extra category because I think I should loose about 10 lbs. then I see others and feel hell... I guess I'm average.

| about average build????? Posted: 12/30/2005 2:05:33 AM | | It seems that when a girl/woman claims she's average on this site, she's usually large sized. The average should not be large, folks! If you are heavy or large sized just say so in your profile. Don't hide anything. Be honest. A few extra pounds doesn't mean 50 lbs plus. If you say that, then you are lying to yourself and others. Just my humble opinion. No offence meant. | |

| about average build????? Posted: 1/12/2006 12:06:40 PM | LOL....great post zdive...and truth.. Men do do the same thing though - they say average (or muscular)...and they have a gut that would rival 9 months preganant...lol... I myself am more than just a few extra pounds but would not by far consider myself obese either...so you know what I do?...I flippin post (right in my profile..lol) my height and my weight and say - if it ain't what you are lookin' for fellas, etc...lol...
In the end it really shouldn't matter - we all have a "type" we are initially attracted to, for instance if a guy is too durn skinny - or too durn short for my taste - probably not going to be that attracted...at first...but I have learned through the years (and proud to say) that sometimes the prettiest wrapped package isn't always the best gift inside.
The only time I will not date someone (as per looks) is when their weight is either too (too) heavy - as in obese - which is a red flag to me that they do not take care of theirself - and if they can't take care of theirself - in my opinion they probably have some emotional issues to deal with first...same goes with too painfully thin. Extreme weight problems is a flag of health (and very often also) emotional problems.
But, a little too heavy, a little too think, a little too tall, or short, or bald, or whatever....nahhhh doesn't matter to me. If we were all average...what a boring beige world this would be.

People don't put their real size on their profiles becaue they know more people search for those with average weight than for those whom are larger sizes. And then again some people just don't realize their real size.

| about average build????? Posted: 4/24/2008 6:54:12 AM | Military standards don't apply to women who have had children. Nor does it take into consideration the skeletal frame underneath.
I have never weighed that little at 5'3" unless I starved myself. I am average for a woman who has had 3 children. I have a slight tummy that will never go away, and if I nibble too many snacks it goes right to that area.
The average woman is healthy, and not a toothpick.
|
| about average build????? Posted: 4/24/2008 9:49:58 AM | I think we've finally got a winner!
The comment that said "if you shop at plus-size stores you can consider yourself overweight" was totally spot on - and so easy and simple a way for women to decide what to put on their profile. Obviously it all depends on height - and if you're 5'2" (below average height) and buying size 16 (the largest size) at the Gap (a regular size store) then you're pushing things and you should really admit to being overweight in your profile. But the point is, it's an easy gauge for pretty much anyone who's of average height. If you shop at regular size stores, you're right around average. Sure, a 5'5" woman buying size 14 isn't thin, but then again she's not exactly obese either. She's somewhere in the middle. AVERAGE.
And that's where men have to decide if they can accept an "average" woman or if they must insist on perfect military standards. I have a close male friend who's always complimenting me and has said on several occasions that if I would lose 20 lbs. I could have any man I want. I told him I don't want any of the men who wouldn't want me now, but would fall all over me if I weighed less. The kind of men I like are realists who are happy to forgive me my flaws and love me exactly as I am. I actually consider those "extra pounds" to be a blessing because it weeds out the superficial guys whose primary focus is on appearance. I'm not fat, and in fact I'm extremely athletic and physically active. But I'm aware that I don't have a model thin body and there are just some men who can't picture themselves with anything but.
Yes, I agree that attraction is important, but if a guy can't get excited about someone who isn't "perfect military standard" then I can pretty much guarantee he doesn't have what it would take in the "personality and character" department to keep me in the first place.
And the joke is on my picky friend. I do get the men I want. Because I choose wisely.
