| How should a very fit 40 year old dress?

We can share all of our clothes
I have met very few girls that can dress as well as her, she treats it as an art
She dresses classy, even in tight jeans and tight shirts, that are paired with all of the accessories to give her a completely polished look. She has mannies and pedies and we both have our belly buttons pierced. She is a princess, but she can sweat with the best also.
I can only dress comfortably in an attire that is similar to my daughters, I am not sure if I taught her how to dress or if she taught me. I wear my skirts shorter than she does, and she will wear more holes in her jeans. She would not let me out of the house in something that was to young without telling me.
The only time she has complained is when she has had a boyfriend over and they bring up "stacy's mom"

Posted: 12/29/2005 7:37:37 AM | | Well your not 16,but i think you have to dress how you feel comfortable.My gf laughs sometimes because i may wear some things and she thinks your over 35,but it is not bad as still have class do not wear things that are tarty '' looking etc.they usaully laugh and say shorter skirts'' and i have chicken legs ie they say skinny,which i disagree.But as long as you are still classy and not trying to be a teenager,what feels right.I dont have my tummy show or pierce my body etc,but tend to wear lowrise jeans and what i feel is comfortable in. | |

I've been wearing my daughter's clothes since she was 15. I wear low rise jeans, short shorts, tank tops, still wear a bikini to the beach...and yes, I have a belly ring and tattoos and do show them off in the summer. | |

Have a pic taken of me at 15...I look like I'm 30 (got into bars a lot easier that way); now take my 18 year old daughter out shopping with me as a fashion consultant...and we fight over who wears the current best "jeans in the house"; don't do the belly rings cuz the tummy ain't great, but low rise pants are the absolute best for helping out "not so perfect" waists.....
At work I dress the total "professional"...at play I dress how I feel, and rather than being labelled "inappropriate", get complimented (from women & men) as to how good I look at that particular moment.
The wardrobe varies from Holts to Value Village...I think you gotta pick the clothes that make you feel good....and most of us older broads know what makes us feel good....and forget the "fashion appropriate rules" than somebody else has set in stone somewhere. | |

The problem I see with such clothes, is that a lot of women wear such things when they shouldn't. It's mind boggling trying to understand why a women with a beer belly would want to show off her mid section, or wear lo-cut jeans. The body is the issue, not the age. | |

Posted: 12/29/2005 10:37:56 PM | My mom and to this day, dresses tastefully, and she's 75. My mom never dressed like a hooker, and I was never ashamed of her style dressing. In my younger days, mom wore different colored wigs, boots, pantsuits, and dresses too. She and one sister would share some clothes. But if the clothing was too young looking she never wore it, saying that was for a teenage girl and not a woman like her. I was taller and my some of my clothes did not fit my sister. I dressed my age as my daugher was growing up. I was the mom, she was the daughter, my babygirl, and still is to this day, age 29. We project what we want to people, tastfully or loudly. Dressing is a statement of how you fill, I think. I love shoes too. | |

Yes, when you are older and have a good body more than likely you work out to get it there and work on it to keep it there.
If you look great, are tasteful, which can be quite revealing, it is very well received.
Use your best features, younger flash belly, older flash cleavage.
older should also use shoulders and legs as "selling" points.
Everyone likes to look good and everyone has their own assets its a matter of finding what you have that looks best. | |

Why does it matter if you are 40? Damn 40 is the new 30's which means people in their 40's now are in the shape there parents were in their 30's
