| How should a very fit 40 year old dress?

20, 30, 40, 50, 60 No matter what age you are fashionistas know dressing well means choosing clothes with good fabic, dressing in clothes that fit your body and wearing clothes that fit the occassion.
It's awful to look at young girls that wear clothes that don't fit their body well.
Junior departments should know how to cater to girls that don't have figures like the models in teen fashion magazines. Clothes in the junior departments are really not well made well for anyone including teenagers.
And it's common sense that if you go to a formal a woman should wear a classy dress rather than jeans and sneakers. Or if your going to a formal you wear a dress that's that's more appropiate for the evening than the day. You don't wear a beach dress to a formal. It's inappropiate and shows lack of fashion sense.

Posted: 5/19/2007 10:33:12 PM | I'm not picking on anybody- I just think its funny that someone would think a 40 year old would would dress in low riders & skimpy top at a formal -- teens in high school have a better chance of going to something fancy than I would.
You're right that the styles are limited at stores-girls wear whats there- and there isn't much. | |

Women can still show off their figure with more conservative clothing. The women who frown upon it are probably jealous...or just more conservative. | |

Get dressed and go stand in front of the full length mirror. If you can look into the mirror for a while and still keep breakfast down then chances are you are properly dressed for the day. Go out, have fun, enjoy life. I mean seriously, when one dresses to impress who do you really need to impress but yourself? All the rest is just icing for the Ferrari.

I was born in 1976. Waiting for my 31st birthday that's comming near the end of the year. I'm just amazed how young 40 really is to me.

For example, a fourty year-old woman will dress more conservative with Seniors around. Is it appropiate for her to show thier belly button? If you think no then why cleavage or short skirt. if you have a bompletely flat tight stomach why is it frowned apon from other women ,you know ya get the up and down look ..........
I am almost 40 and I can't imagine why other women do this either. I wear a size 4 and my stomach is not only flat, I have a six pack to go with it - why shouldn't I show it off? Most women should be focused on their own lives. Therefore it can only be two things that I can think of:
1. Jealousy
2. Prudishness
Neither is an attractive quality. | |

Its not an age thing its a "total look" thing. If you are 40 have a decent body and a certain style looks good good on you and you like it - go for it and good for you.
I'm 50 and just bought a pair of skateboarder shoes and for my birthday next week I am buying a skateboard - why you say - because I want to learn how to skateboard. Now some people have looked at me weird and others have said "You Go Girl" so its all about perception.
Live you life, its your life and there for YOU to enjoy. Your friends will applaud you and be happy for you - the others are jealous - so dont worry about them.
sue all I have to say is you go girl. last year in the city that I live there was this guy skateboarding with his son, well the father was around 70 and his son was like 10 and if that isn't somthing I don't know what is.The father even had skateboard shoes | |

Posted: 5/25/2007 3:24:09 PM | i also think it depends on where you live. some places are just inherently more "casual" than others. that is, if you care all that much...i remeber the 6 months i lived in dallas, for example. i was pregnant at the time, and i remeber thinking, "women dress up SO much during the day, I cannot imagine what sort of fashion show transpires at night."on the other hand, living in SB, people of both genders, and all ages, are apt to cruise around in bathing suits/flip flops/ etc....i actually feel that people "underdress" here...
the 'proper' way to dress, though? i am still pondering this one myself, approaching 38, and in relatively decent shape. I still favor flared jeans with a pointy-toed heel at night, coupled with a flowy top. should i be wearing a sweater twinset from talbots? who knows... | |
