| How should a very fit 40 year old dress?
Posted: 11/13/2008 4:35:24 AM | In my case, my friends and I hit the gym regularly and are in better shape than we were in our 20s. Yep, we all have six pack abs, we're toned head to toe and have no body fat, but we work hard to look that way.
So the answer is - depends where we're going. Do we show midriffs or legs at the club? Sure, sometimes. Do we show em at work? Hell no. When on formal gigs, my hair's up and I am in black pants and a suit jacket; when I am not working and informal, anything goes. If you're fit enough to wear whatever you want, from there it's totally about dressing for where you're going. | |

If two people share the belief that fashion should be an issue, then that is a valid similarity; however, if someone is so hung-up on appearance as opposed to the person under the clothing, then that, in my opinion, is a relationship that won't last very long. | |

For example, don't go to church dressed like you're about to go clubbing, even if it does show off your abs or your chest and you're proud of 'em. Posted: 11/15/2008 7:50:52 PM | I think any woman should dress the way they feel comfortable. I mean you can be slightly over weight and dress to look sexy. My freind is a bit bigger and she wears nice black pants with a white shirt and a little jacket over it and looks awesome. In otherwords dress to hide flaws and to show the nicer parts. I also believe that no matter what age you are a sexy but yet classy look is sexiest, I mean after all leaving something to the imagination keeps them coming back. I see young girls wearing next to nothing sometimes, walking downtown to get attention and really in the end thats not what gets the right attention, so actually when they are to young I dont believe they should dress inappropriate, thats what looks wrong , not the older ones.
I like to be different actually myself. I look pretty good so I actually had 2 belly chains made for me a couple of years ago. One real gold and the other silver and sometimes I wear them loosely so they kinda hang over the pants or jeans. (in summer mostly)
I get lots of looks , lots of compliments, but I know how to wear them so they are sexy but not trashy looking.
So its all up to the woman espeically older woman , I think they know how to handle them selves when it comes to dressing. Its their very young daughters that one has to be careful with , wouldnt you think. | |

Posted: 11/15/2008 8:09:16 PM | I agree with the above poster. My daughter is a bit shy about her new found figure, but I still discuss what is and isn't appropriate to wear. They do have a dress code at her school, so really they can't dress too bad.
I like to wear what I think I look good in. If I am on a date, I will wear different clothing than if I am going grocery shopping. I like to have fun when I dress and go out. I guess I care about how I look, but don't care so much about anyone's opinion about how I look, well the guy I am with of course. If I feel good, that is the most important thing to me. | |

I think its a freedom of expression to dress how ever your wish to. Saying that, at my age I don't tend to like to wear low cut tops or belly tops I prefer tight fitting clothes that show off my figure but don't expose too much flesh, as I'm not a teen any longer a bit of class always helps later in life. Tight jeans and a tight top always work, something backless possibly, short skirts are doable but I would tend to wear those either in summer or with tights and boots in winter. Tight fitting shirts look pretty good for those who wish to show off a little cleavage. Its just my opinion. I just think if I dressed as though I was 20 it wouldn't suit my face and might look tacky. But I say each to their own dress in a way that makes you feel good about yourself because when you feel good you always look good. | |

I like to wear short skirts and belly button bearing tops, form fitting jeans..I will not be told how to dress by anyone. I think as long as you class yourself up and your clothes do not show bulges, a belly overlapping your pants, or your boobs are honestly about ready to fall free from your shirt, I say GO FOR IT girl!
As for the person who made the comment about age appopriate, BS! I have seen 18-20 yr olds that need to cover up more and I do not tell them how to dress because they are not fit. Age is irrelevant. I agree with most others that say, dress appropriately to your surroundings, ie work or play. | |
