there are more than a few soap opera style threads-this one might have more of a "on the edge of your seat" thrill than most...I don't know.
real or fake...it's nice to see that there's still a lotta heart out there.
I didn't get more into it than offer prayers-and that never hurts,so it didn't tick me off one way or the other.

We are all praying for her speedy and miraculous recovery and then cry out in accusation when it happens. How typical of the human race. I don't know what is true and what isn't in this case, but either way it doesn't really matter that much in the long run....life will go on and it will be forgot. | |

So Why couldn't Katlin be an Alias for Paris??? I use aliases all the time and on a dating site I am definitely not going to throw my real name around.
Why couldn't Michael access Katlin's account to write what she wanted him to write????
Why couldn't Katlin relay messages to Michael to write to us???

Why were all these miracles prayed for if you don’t believe in them? What in good God's name would someone want to do something like this???!!! it isn't logical... Why tear down an amazing support system of hopeless romantics just to add to the cynicism of an already pessimistic attitude toward the possibility that love REAL love does exist???
Katlin and Michael's love story brought together a mass of people praying for them and thinking about them and yet people are so quick to accept it as a farce and a sick game.
I am sorry but I want more evidence that Michael is lying
If that makes me a fool psssssssst than I am a fool regardless because I fell in love with their story. I do believe in love and I do believe in the magic of miracles.
Regardless of whether it is a scam or not that remains to be seen but the amazing coming together of a bunch of internet strangers to pray for one couple is beautiful Dammit! Don't be so quick to let go of that. not without something more. Michael hasn't asked for money only thoughts and prayers. | |

Posted: 1/10/2005 7:43:39 PM | I totally agree, we do have to be skeptical these days, I once was very badly hurt by someone who scammed me here on pof, but whatever I got over it, anyways.. It has been so heart warming and brought tears to my eyes everytime i read the threads in support of Katlin and Micheal. I say scam or not, we shouldn't make accusations, and I think it was beautiful to see all of the warmth and golden hearted people that are out there..
It is not a problem for me to take a few minutes out of my day to send my best wishes and prayers for someone. I would like to think its not a scam, but either way The outpouring of love that has been shown has blown my mind. | |

Paris is the user name on This OTHER DATING site Paris18 to be correct! Katlin like Paris could be a user name and she has not posted any messages on that websites message board since September from what I can tell. Katlin never said that she wrote this from her conditioned state just for this occasion. Katlin has many many poems just like many of us other writers and she probably asked Michael to pick something out. Or maybe they sifted through together not only to trigger her memory but to give her away to communicate with something that they are both familiar with.
dont bleieve me though look for yourself I went to the link above went to the members list then looked for Paris. It was there that I found her. | |

Posted: 1/11/2005 1:04:44 PM | Not sure what the point of the ignore it is, but here are some thoughts... just for grins..
1. If it is a hoax, this is the second such in less than a month. Folks, you want to invite people here to the forums to get to know one another and perhaps have that lightening strike. This crap, is dirty laundry strewn about for all to see, a new person browsing running across these now 4 threads that I know of to show off the WORST of POF... would chase people off.
2. The idea that this all might have been a hoax, was propigated by a couple of purportedly medical backgrounds and knowledge saying that her recovery to this point was far too easy, quick and convenient. We know no more of the "fact" of the medical backgrounds of these individuals that we know of the "facts" surrounding this alleged accident. This stance was further propounded by someone mistaking Kaitlins thank you as beng her original work, someone else either found or recognized it as the work of another and posted what seemed like quite a snide comment about it. For the record... all of us buy cards and give them, or send ecards or such via the internet... the post NEVER said it was her work, just her thanks...
3. Miracles do happen, if the accident occured, no one said that she had recovered, merely that she was getting better and was told of the support and well wishes of the folks here. Allegedly, and correctly she wished to express thanks, whereupon, both her and michael were immediately attacked. Perhaps she had expressed a wish to thank us for our thoughts to a relative, and from there... the post happened... by someone... who knows... But Who in their right minds would trust ANY one here... if we are wishing well one minute and the next.. ripping their hearts out?
4. I can understand everyone being angry IF this was a hoax. But who stood to gain? THere was a comment about setting up a fund to help Michael go visit her, but Michael immediatley said that was not needed... The ONLY possible result of this crap is to destroy the community "family" atmosphere of the forums and the regulars that post here. Which seems to be happening a bit here and there anyway...
5. As for how many accounts Michael and Kaitlin have on here, they could be the same person, there could be any number... no way of knowing for sure, even if ADMIN tracks accounts to IP addresses and assumng Static addresses, still no way to know... I use others computers, computers are freely available at the library... and other places... who knows...
6. I find it sad the number of people that were more than ready and willing to turn on this situation at the first sign of questionability.. I wonder to those that turned so quickly.. do you do this in "real" life too? Are you really that shallow, that quick to turn on those you puport to be friends? If so this is sad, and may go far to explain why you are here to begin with.
7. Here is an even easier solution to the dilemma, Michael could contact ADMIN, in private, provide verifiable facts that ADMIN could privately verify under terms of confidentiality and provide a conclusive answer once and for all. But then... how would you KNOW? For all any of you know, complete with suspicious natures... ADMIN could be Michael... You just don't know.. and have no way of knowing...
I will say this though, given the demostrated shallowness of some here, with the "trying to make someone jealous" thing that happened around Christmas, and now this, I could not blame michael if he never came back. A lot of folk showed their natures and colors the last couple of months, sadly it was not to their benefit.
I really know not what else to say... some of us have come here, genuinely, with open hearts, minds and arms willing to embrace the world, others it seems have less... pure motives...

And her parents allegedly in on it too, he did state that he had been in contact with them too... and yes, I am aware that with a sufficient number of friends, all could be accomplished. Again though, to what end? Get him to Italy? I have the feeling that it would take far less than this to get him to go. To get him to go away? Hmm... seems that if that were the case, they did not know him very well, and there HAD to have been easier ways to accomplish this. In any case, I was throwing the other thoughts out there for food for thought...
Here is an additional thought... stipulating that it was a hoax... to my mind, that does not excuse the whole 180 turn around that a lot did with such speed... I mean... that was QUICK... and you have to wonder, if they really turn that quickly... how shallow are they?

now..i have been around a schoolmate that got hit by a car and flew 20 feet and was in a coma near death for a month.
It took a whole year for her to recover..she is quadrapalegic now..but gimmee a break..there is no way the brain can recover from that kind of truama..in 3 weeks..and be stable enough to use the language skills..and memory to write like that.
Im not a doc..nor a nurse..but i remeber her near death experience.You are almsot an infant again and it takes weeks if not months for the brain to recover and use memory..language..motor skills..speech and bodily functions. | |

However if I refused to be tainted by ignorant people who avoids the disabled out of fear I am surely not going to allow somthing like this to leave me jadad. I remain open minded leaving room for doubt. I really don't care to debate this issue or why I have my doubts. Everyone does have the right to question after all this is the internet and for all you know I could be an eighty year old drag queen siiting here in my boxers pearls and neon purple nail polish. I am not going to lose my faith in people out of this. I'd rather keep the door open to people than to be safely lock away and lonely. So regardless of the foolishness I am left unscathed.
As for you Michael and Katlin....
Whether you are the real deal or not my prayers are with you.... as I see it either way it goes you need them
