On the cooking channel in the show, "Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives" the host was checking out this place that fried everything.

As a gag, he took a cheese burger, bun lettuce and all. Dipped it in the batter and dropped it in the oil.

Yup a deep fried, WHOLE cheeseburger. I tell ya, it looked awesome!!!

After he did it and the owner tried it, they added it to the menu and it became very popular...

Here is a link that I found for a restaurant that copied the concept.

I really want to try it with some homemade sliders!!!!

2 parts lean ground beef to one part minced smoked bacon ends, just a touch of fennel seed, coriander, crushed red pepper, a pinch of italian herbs, and a dash of salt. make that into your patties. grill and top with caramelized vidalia onions, really ripe cherry tomato halves, crumbled stilton, and arugula. make sure you get GOOD hamburger buns too

Where do we get them and what makes for a good bun? I know there is one hamburger place out here, a chain, that has the bun I like best. It's not the chain all the yuppies swoon over either. So where to get good ones? How to select them?
I've been thinking about the idea someone posted earlier about a chili burger. I'm thinking a chiliburger with the chili all tucked inside two patties would be something else. Maybe make the patties from the recipe that Soul Singer posted, the bacon and herbs in it, just leave off those toppings , fill the center with hot chili and Monterey Jack cheese, form the pattie and grill it. You'd have to warn your guests though and probably have them wear a special bib to eat it. Can you imagine taking a bite and having that chili come squirting out at you with no warning?? This just gets better sounding by the minute. Can you tell I skipped supper tonight?
I used to make a good Ortega Burger: burger, ortega chilies, monterey jack cheese and grilled sourdough bread. Oh yum
