However the BEST ring I EVER heard I was in a gas station and a fellow no less than 6'5" and atleast 500 lbs butts infront of me, tosses on the counter two 2 litre Cokes, a handful of chocolate bars and a few large bags of chips and the second he does that his phone rings LOUDLY,......... SNNNNORK, SNNNORK, SNNNNORK like a BIG pig .......... The kid behind the counter and I almost died laughing!!! | |

Posted: 11/16/2007 3:21:34 PM | Larra, some of the newer phones let you make your own. Most are MP3 phones. In Canada, the first phone that I remember you being able to use your own MP3's on was Nokia's 6620 (I still have mine, use it as a second phone :D), and you could either chop it up with an audio editor, or let it play from the beginning.
I dislike a lot of the tones you can buy actually, because most rock and metal songs catch you with the opening, not the solo or the chorus; for instance, I wanted Breaking the Law by Judas Priest, but I wanted the opening riff.
The only solo that I wanted for a ringtone was the one from Sultans of Swing. Such a good guitar solo...
Anyway, some phones have a limitation on the size of ringtones (the Samsung D807's 600 KB), so you'd have to chop away anyway...Nokia was the only one I knew of that let you just take a whole song and have at...Oh, wait, sorry, no, there are some Ericssons, too.
Note that these are GSM phones. I rarely used a CDMA phone that had these features locked out; American and Canadian CDMA carriers really know how to screw their clients, although the GSM carriers can be just as bad (like Rogers locking out using your own MP3 ringtones with the Ericsson W300 and the 4GB Ericsson W810; that was just dispicable), although they usually do it to consumer phones; smartphones, not a chance because it's cutting off your nose to spite your face. | |

Otherwise the basic ring for unknown callers is "Golddigger" by Kanye West and Jamie Foxx. | |

Right now it's Settle by the Headstones.
Just snip the song to whatever part you want, fade in, fade out.... send it to the phone. :) | |

The songs my phone play when someone calls that simultaneously annoys the crap out of everyone around me and lets them know what poor taste I have in music is....
"Scotty Doesn't Know" from Eurotrip, or the original Transformers theme song.
I also have Darth Vader having an orgasm for one of my friends, another has "grace kelly" and another has a circus theme, Welcome to the Jungle, the piano duet from the "corpse bride".... I have a lot. :)
For Christmas it's farting jingle bells. I crack up every time I hear it. | |

I have Styx's "Mr. Roboto" set as one of my friends' ringtone for whenever he calls me. The rule with that one is whenever it rings, everyone has to break into doing the robot.
This other guy only calls when he wants to come over, so I have "Sexual Healing" set for his.
I also have: Don't stop til you get enough - Michael Jackson, Let's get it on - marvin gaye, Living on a prayer - bon jovi, and Unwritten - Natasha Bedingfield, but I'm not currently using any of them. | |

I made all my ringtones myself, currently the default ringtone is the theme song for The Unit (season 3 theme) (give me a secret, bring me a sign, give me a reason to walk the fire, see another dawn thru a daughter's eyes, you give me a reason to walk the fire)
I have others, maybe I should just upload them somewhere and post the link. They were all made for a reason, well for whomever is on my list that is. =) Something fun to do every so often, and nice to know who is calling by listening to the ringtone (except when the music is sooo good, you don't want to pickup the fone, and just listen to the tone) Hehehe. | |
