Canada has a military and more than held its own during wartime. Since the Korean
War we have been known as peacemakers, something you probably don't know much about, either!
Oh, by the way there actually are other nations than the United States, no kidding. it's a big planet and some even learn about it, before invading it.
Some of us have made some educated posts on here, such as how the U.S. has initiated more military campaigns than anyone else in the last century. But then, hey, they just followed orders, eh... | |

Posted: 1/4/2005 9:35:14 AM | It is extremely dishearting when people talk in a way that conifms all the worst stereotypes of poorly educated americans by taking as though people of the US are the only people in the world who should be entitled a voice. As has been said before, the psychopatholgy of Bush impacts on many popple. we live in a globalised world. apart from the damage the Bush has done to international relations by starting an illegal war, torturing prisoners and killing 100000 innocent people, the decline of the US economy will effect people everywhere. Statesmen have a duty to lead their society in a sane was that does not cause instabilty all around. Bush has not done this, and few people in the Eurpoe belief that the american people have enough political, economoc, sociolgical and psychological awareness to know that they are allowing their society to be flushed down the toilet.
If you right wingers knew of a backwards society where few people get a good education, that is run so poorly that they endanger the safety of everyone in the world, you would probably want to invade it and change things. the funny thing is that that country is your own. now please try to understand it before letting your riduculous jingoisim and lack of awareness turn you into complete fascists. | |

Therein lies at least part of your problem. Even if I was a big fan of a current elected leader, I am not going to give him or her my blind trust. If they do something that doesn't seem right, it is not a good thing to sit back and assume things will turn out for the best.
For those of us that supported him we believe Bush to be of strong moral character and will defend those rights we enjoy.
I hope you get a lot of enjoyment out of those rights now, because the current US government has already shown it has no qualms about taking them away. | |

Personally, if you've read MY post I don't believe he's nuts. I just think he's a a thief a liar and a murderer whose family always took more stock in making money than projecting their "values" on anybody.. other than monetary ones.*LOL*...
Maybe some people don't know that.
I think the ones who think he's crazy are giving him the benefit of the doubt, but I can see why they don't want to think like I do. It's frightening to think that such an evil person could become president and as you point out, it's even more frightening to think about how corrupt our government is overall.
But for that; how can we blame them for casting about trying to find answers? | |

Our political system is bound and chained to big business. The (Conservative) Supreme Court decision which overturned Congresses bill to limit campaign donations afew years ago assured us of that; so if a person can't raise hundreds of millions of dollars to become president, they'll never get elected.... BUT, Bush is the real deal as far as bad guys go. That's what you and many others don't understand; which I'm very surprised about. You just look a guy up and down and say "looks like a politician to me. They're all corrupt." but HE is more than that. He tried to cut your combat pay by 1/3. He says he's "cutting taxes" and runs up the national debt by 1.3 trillion dollars. He helps companies steal retirement funds, try to bankrupt the state of california with energy fraud, starts a war on false pretenses...
HE is f'ing BAD.
I think Kerry may have been alot better, just by putting a stop to some of what's going on....
NOBODY ELSE would have done what Bush is doing. Before he came into office, we were the most powerful nation on earth and I would say the MOST powerful there's ever been. Now, we're falling... fast.
Most of the reason for that is: BUSH. | |

Posted: 1/4/2005 9:56:51 AM | why would you assume he's mentally ill just because he's morally bankrupt? if nothing else, he and his advisors have been very smart - they've carried out outrageous acts on foreign soil, they've "lost" popular opinion or so it seems, they've alienated half the world, thrown the US into greater debt in a war that's even more futile than vietnam (if that's possible), completely squashed the liberal media and they got RE-ELECTED!!! say what you want about how backward the red states are, how uneducated, how right wing, whatever...the fact of the matter is, bush and his advisors spun it right. and won. the democrats had money, popular opinion, liberal optimism...they had a lot of positives and absolutely blew it.
so i don't think bush is mentally ill...he or someone on his side has been absolutely brilliant and the democrats dropped the ball. | |

Canada has its share of not only millionaires but billlionaires, and that would prove what, exactly?
Depleting the resources of the planet, that we are now all on the brink of destruction, that's a high price to pay for the acquisition of wealth.
As for having a voice and not being American, how autocratic! What the global village tells us is that we are responsible for all, not just a select few, a few who have the worst record of all regarding human rights, were the truth really known. The figures speak for themselves.
9/11 was unfortunate, but how many 9/11's have there been, courtesy of the U.S. with its penchant for world dominance? And don't say its aims aren't that high, all things considered, with so many nefarious incursions into the world at large...
Oh, and Canadians they actually know where places are in the U.S., not just that it's the name of a country! | |

I could not help laughing that millionaires-thingie. The Zars of Russia and their inner circle were very wealthy, as well... and the rest? Just souls. Maybe Hussein was living American dream, as well.
To be honest, there is a saying going around how the US - specially Bush's goverment - is begging "blood from its own nose". The arrogant attitude creates ยด- in addition to millionairs -hate and ways to express it.
It is not a crime to be a millionaire when you have earned the property without harming others. But it cannot be a real value??!!! :O | |

Living the American dream! Of course, we could always overlook the fact that the United States has more inmates incarcerated than any other nation on earth, or that the murder rate in three years alone exceeds 50,000. But, hey, in Texas, the state where the "Prez" lives cowboys can still wear six-shooters on their hips...

Every soldier, sailor and marine raised their right hand and swore to protect this country and 95% of us are more than willing to die for that cause. If im told to fight i fight if im told to stand down i do it.Do i think Bush is a great leader? "NO" but is he the prez? "YES" will i follow his commands? "YES" i am not saying he is a great prez but what i am sayng is that i dont just fight for Bush i fight for America and the freedoms of my family as well as every american family. Posted: 1/4/2005 10:51:25 AM | i guess you could call me an armchair soldier as well since i've never gone into combat or been a part of any of the armed forces. however, i've known and helped and listened to people who have been devastated by war and its resulting consequences. it's a high price to pay not only in combatant lives but civilians as well, most of whom are innocent caught in the crossfire and left to pick of the pieces of a decimated homeland.
i do believe in going to war to protect rights and freedoms BUT the cost is high and every other option should be considered before going to war.
btw, aren't bush and his advisors nothing more than armchair soldiers as well? or more like armchair generals leaving america's sons and daughters to die on foreign soil in a war that doesn't protect american freedom but american oil interests???? | |

The vast majority of US forces are being as humane as any fighting force has ever been or could possibly be, without just dropping their weapons and saying "kill me"...
I have zero amount of pity for the enemy in Iraq or Afghanistan. They're fighting an illegal war. They're murdering their own countrymen. They use women and children for cover. Their value system is unjustifiable and our soldiers have no choice but to fight the way they're doing.
I'm at odds with our "American System" right now, but I RESPECT and ADMIRE and am VERY PROUD of the US military in war; not the intellegince part that people like Rumsfeld are able to get at, but the people out there in combat. NOBODY has ever been more humane in battle. | |
