The first guy I actually managed to meet IRL off plenty of fish, drove 2 hours to see me just to have lunch (and smoke a spliff  ). We ended up hitting it off really well but we kept it casual because he was only going to be in the US for 2 more months (he was on a long holiday from the UK). But we spent every weekend and sometimes days during the week together, and I talked to his Dad on the phone, and it was just so easy being around him. I am a spazz, and he is very calm and level-headed, so we balance each other out quite well. He has a really soothing presence about him. He is my sounding board and my friend and confidant. He listens to my crazy gossip (I have an insane group of friends) and we have an awesome time together even if we are just at home watching movies.
We decided to try a long distance relationship, the great thing about it (except for the long distance phone bill I have) is that there is a foreseeable end to this as he is coming back to stay for good at the end of the year.
I am divorced and I honestly thought I would never even consider getting married again! But here I am, going to Europe to meet his family and look at rings with him. I feel like such a goof! | |

I hope you and Holly can be together in one place for a very long time.... I have met a wonderful guy on here and we have been talking for a while, the only problem is, he is in Canada and I am stuck in Indiana. We are really not too far apart, but we have obligations of our own that tend to stand in the way of how we feel about each other. He is the most interesting and compassionate guy I have ever met, and I love him so much. The only thing that I am afraid of is the distance keeping us apart. I have a fear of losing touch because of the distance. I long for the day that we can finally meet in person and actually touch and hold each other instead of dreaming about it...lol....I hope that soon I can post my success story for everyone to read and enjoy as much as I enjoyed reading yours Cross. As for Nik...I love you baby ;) | |

I am not lying when I tell you if you find a dating site without my name on it....they just hadn't made it yet. Then a friend sent me the link to this site.
Of course, i dreaded filling out yet ANOTHER profile but hey....it was late, i was tired....who'd care? Well, someone did.
I have met a woman from POF that,short of being over top goopy and mushy, is perfect as you can be and still be humble and respect commanding.
I messaged her never really expecting a reply, afterall, someone accepting someone like me nevermind actually loving me was a miracle never to happen........but..........it did.
We messaged eachother back and forth....took advantage of POF's IM. Moved up and beyond to phone calls, meeting the first time for dinner, and several weeks later....we are not only in love with eachother in a good old fashioned way but are making arrangements for our wedding and future children.
Thank you POF for being the ONLY DATING SITE THAT PUTS LOVE BEFORE MONEY. Tammy and I thank you for everything that got us together on POF and for our future all do to you here on POF.

Posted: 6/13/2005 8:44:36 AM | I would like to say that it can happen, you can meet the right person. I have only been on this site for a short time and I have only gotten a few replies from my ad. It is hard for me to meet that special person because I am overweight and a mother of two daughters. But I got a reply from a person on here. And after talking for a little bit, we decided to meet. And yes I am now very happy with that relationship. He was everything and more that he said he was. I was looking for someone to share my life with, and now have found it. Michael is very careing, and everything that I wanted in a relationship. I really never thought that it could work because I know that sometimes people lie about who or what they are. But I guess God was watching and sent me my angel. Michael is great and we have been together now for over a month, and still going strong. We are learning who each other is. And sharing everything. When you least expect it you can find that special person. You just have to believe and it can. I know we havent dated long but I thank God. That I could find someone so nice and gentle. Just last night I went to meet gixxerj for the first time after talking almost since I first signed up. I actually wish I could remember which one of us contacted the other first and what the message said 'cause as of about 2:30 this afternoon, we're officially dating. It's a pretty perfect match, too; we're both from small towns in Iowa, like to do the same things for fun, and have similar family histories (farm related).
And the funny thing was, about 2 or 3 weeks ago, I was ready to completely give up on finding a guy. You never know when it could happen to you. | |

Posted: 12/9/2005 10:07:37 PM | Back in the summer I was bored and lonely one Friday night so I searched out a free online dating site (Is this the only one that is for real?). I wasn't really into it, just looking for the ego boost that I'd get off of a few replies.
I chatted with a few fellas. Talked to one on the phone, and all he wanted to do was change me. "Why do you do this? Why don't you want to do THAT?" Planning my career for me etc.
Some guy popped up on the IM program wanting to know if I have a web cam. Pig!
Even met one guy for coffee. That never stopped being awkward. Two hours of hell. I drove home thinking that I would never do it again.
Then I got that e-mail in my hotmail to let me know I got mail on the site. Short, simple intro. We both go to the same uni as mature students it is hard to meet people. And "We got stuff in common, wanna chat?". So we did for a couple weeks.
Went for a coffee. (And he showed imagination by suggesting a REAL coffee shop and not Tim Hortons lol). It went really well. There was a second when our eyes connected and we both kinda laughed and it wasn't weird anymore. We went for a walk around town and talked for ages about all kinds of stuff. He even got on a rant about how much the Ontario gov't screws us over on our student loans. Like really going off. I was laughing and then I saw him catch himself, like he knew it probably wasn't the best thing to be saying when trying to make a good impression. And that was when I really liked him. Polite smooch good bye.
A few days later we went to the local drive in to see HitchHikers Guide as that was the only place it was playing. Due to the rather impolite smooching I still haven't seen HitchHikers Guide.
Then he was going in vacation to Ottawa for 2 weeks. He came back after 3 days to see me. Note to the guys: Those big gestures really do work! We agreed to take down our profiles. There hasn't been a day that has gone by that we haven't talked, chatted or seen each other.
And it was a good summer. We met each others families. His mum says that I am a "keeper"! My mum approves, and I doubted she would like anybody. Actually I doubted that I would like anybody! I can't believe how good he makes me feel. 6 months and going strong. | |
