| Beware of Russian bride scams Posted: 5/20/2006 12:38:21 PM | Some of these Russian bride scams are quite legit too, and can lead to the same disastrous results. Had a friend send away for a Russian husband (in spite of the advice of all her family and friends) -- paid for by most of her money, but some of his. They met at the airport, she was in love, they both moved into her cute little house in town and began their lives. But unfortunately, the quick jamming together of two very distinct cultures soon had them at each other's throats (figuratively). I suppose the end came when she realized he wasn't too friendly with her two much-loved dogs. Last I heard, Evegni was working the docks, she is now so bitter and hurt that it's nearly impossible to get her to talk about anything anymore - such a pity, lovely woman.
So beware of, not only the scams, but of the legit ones as well. Things can often be not what they seem. I guess the rule of thumb is "think"! ... well, duh!

| Beware of Russian bride scams Posted: 5/20/2006 1:08:41 PM | That seems like more of this is happening, but not just Russian women. I had this Africa woman pop in on my Yahoo Messenger. I played along for a few days...asked for some pictures...which she did send...at least it was the same girl. Of course don't really know if the pic's of her girl friend or sister or really her. But the pic's I got were an eye opener....not nude but one was a tiny bathing suit....Holy S...., did this woman have a body...not just a great pair....but the whole package. I asked her if she was a model...cause she was dang good looking. She said no! But then about the third day she started with the...."I'm poor and in need of money so I can come to you and be with you"
Gag..puke...Ya, right. Told her to go the nearest lion's den and feed them.
End of story and her. | |

| Beware of Russian bride scams Posted: 5/20/2006 2:11:38 PM | Scammers have been out there for a long LONG time. Some men just don’t get it!!! Here's an example...this guy is 53, overweight, looks like shit and meets this gorgeous 24 year old Russian woman online who falls deeply in love with him within a week...HELLOOOO is someone home???
Anyone who is dumb enough to send money to a perfect stranger deserves what's coming to him...period! God knows that it happens allllll the time and even if the information is out there, some men will take a decision based on what their smaller heads will tell them.
The funny part is that some idiots will actually fall in love within a few days and will believe all the crap that those women will feed them with...Amazing!!!

| Beware of Russian bride scams Posted: 5/20/2006 2:31:17 PM | I usually get the interest from the men in *stan, *ran and *raq countries. Amazingly persistent, usually looking for passports and all that, they send me stuff, it always gets opened and searched with some "accident" sticker from the USPS. I turned in the one who wanted minute details of local churches and who attends and also wanted to know the local clubs and how many attends on a given night. Want to go to a Christian church on Sunday after a club on Saturday night? Hmm. I did like the guy from Wot India, he was straight up and has never asked for a thing after 5 years of sporadic contact. He saw I lived in Why, at the time, and he thought that was pretty cute. he contacted me through MSN chat rooms. Last I heard, he was in Ireland.
Incidently, no one has ever asked me for money, they always offered to buy me the ticket to there-just as scary.

| Beware of Russian bride scams Posted: 5/20/2006 3:17:37 PM | | It works because men want to believe some way a woman could love them. Let's say it is a scam, most of the time, but that sometimes it is not. You can believe yours is for real and all the others are scams. You can believe she might fall in love with you once she spends some time with you. Maybe you think you are at least as good as, or even better than the men she can get where she comes from, or else why would she be looking abroad? There is a lot of room to imagine the slight possibility of success. Compare this to here, where there is no way at all to imagine a woman would love you. You have been rejected by all the women you approached. You know that you are never going to be loveable here to these women. So do you give up, or do you believe in trying, even if it is a long shot? Love is a powerful need in many men. If I had the money to burn I would try it, with no illusions, and my hope would be that somehow it would work out, but if it didn't, I tried. | |

| Beware of Russian bride scams Posted: 5/20/2006 3:46:24 PM | Anyone that sends money to someone far away that they only know from online is asking to be scammed. If you are going to send them money then you should at least have spent a few $$ on talking on the phone first. If you were going to fly them over then contact the airline yourself. Pay for the ticket with a creditcard and ensure that any refunds on the ticket will go back onto your card.
Thing is if you are dumb enough to fall for it you deserve to lose the cash. Something tells me these are the same people that send a few thousand in exchange for a few million from the prince of Nigeria. We have all had that email before.

| Beware of Russian bride scams Posted: 5/20/2006 4:20:15 PM | One of my best friends and a good acquaintence are leaving for Russia in just a few weeks to look for prospective brides. All three of us know a guy that went on tours at hxxp://www.loveme.com/ to check out women wanting to marry an American and come to the US. Regardles this guy made three trips just because he had so much fun. He said the trips were like vacations and better than any cruise he had ever taken. He had his choice of many women and during the third tour, finally narrowed his selection down to a few. After correspndence, IM, and telephone calls, he made his choice, made arrangements to marry her in Russia, and went a fourth time to bring her back as his wife.
This woman is extremely attractive, well educated and has a degree. She is honest and loyal, believes in commitment, communication and compromise, and is filled with compassion. Everyone that meets her likes her.
When we asked her what she liked most about America she replied, "Stability". What we take for granted most Russians consider a luxury. She marvels at grocery stores and can spend hours in one. She cannot believe we have such a selection of fruit, vegetables, meats, dairy products and BREAD! She says in her town it is not uncommon to wait in line a couple of hours just for one item such as a few slices or half loaf of bread.
Anyway, he stated had he known there were so many good looking faithful women in Russia years ago, he never would have wasted his time on American women. He and his wife are in total bliss.
So not ALL Russian bride agencies are scams but you do have to be careful and do your homework.

| Beware of Russian bride scams Posted: 5/20/2006 5:58:39 PM | Well, I found out about this the hard way... Had a couple of beautiful women contact me and got the long sad story... Never did send them the cash, but now I keep them online as long as possible. I collect the emails and post them to the site that was listed earlier and all the pictures. I wait until our "romance" is over, then I have a nice collection to post along with the tail.
Makes me wonder about all of this. How do the get the photos if the girl is not the scammer, but some dude?
Some of the letters are sad in a way..... I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU, over and over again.
I know have a collection of five done and am currently "involved" with a sixth lady right now. I figur soon either she will spring the visa trap on me, or she will have a family issue with someone in despirit need of surgery....
Will have to see how it all pans out.... I kind think it will be the visa trap, but I have been wrong before.

| Beware of Russian bride scams Posted: 5/20/2006 6:15:07 PM | | Well, these type of things happen alot of me, never fall for them though, cause i would NEVER meet a woman after only knowing her 2 weeks, not even 3 months is long enough chatting online.....once they ask to meet so soon, i get cautious about it and try to avoid meeting them until alot later. | |

| Beware of Russian bride scams Posted: 5/20/2006 6:21:36 PM | Damn! I looked at that loveme site and it's amazing. There are some good photographers working in the Ukraine.
So just how desperate do you figure a woman would have to be, and how long until she bails on me once she gets here?
|
| Beware of Russian bride scams Posted: 5/20/2006 7:23:11 PM | well, it depends on how long you two chat online before meeting.
If she can maintain a purely chatting relationship for at least 1 year, then she obviously likes you, but if she wants to meet you sooner then you are used to, then she other desires....besides you..

| Beware of Russian bride scams Posted: 5/20/2006 8:38:15 PM | Really, it's all about finding someone. If that someone isn't in your state, or your own country, she might very well be in Ukraine or Lithuania or Russia. Any success story is still a success and I'm cheered by that.

| Beware of Russian bride scams Posted: 5/20/2006 10:36:50 PM | "So just how desperate do you figure a woman would have to be, and how long until she bails on me once she gets here?"
Desperate enough to escape the Russian mafia, and once she learns you spent all your money for her trip.

| Beware of Russian bride scams Posted: 5/21/2006 6:30:10 AM | There has to be a woman who would look at the chance to live here as better than her own life back home. I know the majority of ads are fake to get money from lonely men. But I am not worried about the money. I will pay for it easily from the money I am about to get for helping the Nigerian government with a cash flow problem. One internet scam will fund the other. This is too easy.
The way I see this, I can be alone, or I can find someone whose life sucks so bad they would actually look at being with me as a step up. If their upward mobility ambitions carry them beyond me at some point, so be it. They are doing what they have to, and so am I, and along the way we get what we need.

| Beware of Russian bride scams Posted: 5/21/2006 7:05:11 AM | I had friends head over to Russia to meet women for marriage, They came back with some great stories , but the best one was when they picked up some young ladies, were brought home and fed tea. They work up 7 hours later with hangovers and all their money and passports gone. I laughted for days, but the sad thing is, one of the guys is going back again to search for his perfect wife. We are having a meeting of the Guys Club to vote him out. | |
