You set up all these 'booths' like carnival games, and like one of them would be tiddlywinks in a clown's mouth, another would be maybe ring toss....that was the BEST. GAME. EVER! I have looked on ebay for it, and it's not there, and no one I know remembers it, so if anyone knows it, or has one, email me! I want one! lol I also had these really cool little dolls called Dawn dolls and they came with a fashion runway, little tiny trunks with hangers to put thier clothes in, and it all folded up.

She's stained, mishapen and the string that held her butt togther came loose... I cant seem to part with her. Anybody remember My Little Ponies?? Those were cool, I had a few of them. the newer versions are wierd looking! I found a Popple at the Goodwill a few years ago, and a Slimer horn from Ghost Busters (they had them in McDonald's Happy Meals way back when) which is on my sister's bike now. I had a few Thundercats figurines too, it was my favourite show when I was a kid! Hey does anyone remember Slip and Slide?
|
| toys from the 60s 70s 80s ect. Posted: 9/7/2007 10:33:17 AM | What about those little battery powered Hot Wheels type cars called Sizzlers? Or the drag racing cars that you pulled the zip tie thing out of called SSTs?
Slip and Slides? Oh yeah! We always seemed to set ours up with the end way too close to a fence, tree or other unmovable obstacle. We used to try and get all the kids in the neighborhood to bring thiers over in an attempt to make the world's longest Slip and Slide. At some point I decided that water was not letting us go as fast as we needed to and oiled up our five slider with a very large bottle of baby oil. Needless to say we had a neighborhood of greasy looking kids for about a week after that. I've since figured out that Dawn dishwashing liquid (which hadn't been invented yet) really does get the grease out!

| toys from the 60s 70s 80s ect. Posted: 9/7/2007 11:30:44 AM | How about hungry hungry hippos!!!!
I think^^^was invented right after the wheel..
Funny story..around Christmastime when I was three I BEGGED Santa for Hungry Hungry Hippos. I was a good kid and was the only thing I wanted. Christmas came..some nice toys and underroos came..but..no HHH. Disappointed was all I could say, but I handled it well for a toddler. Fast forward sixteen Christmases , I am 19 almost 20 years old..I am with my family opening gifts that morning and I noticed one of the presents looked a little different. It was in obviously old dusty wrapping paper, and a lil note on it said something to the effect of "Merry Christmas 1980, Love Santa"..this was 1996! I opened it up and there was my Hungry Hungry Hippos, an obviously new box! Moral of the story: good things come to those who wait!!

We also played endless kickball and hopscotch. No virtual games for us I have the scars on my knees to prove it.
Good Memories! BZB | |

| toys from the 60s 70s 80s ect. Posted: 9/7/2007 4:43:14 PM | Vintage toys in good condition bring a good price on todays market. I have a Snakes and Laders game that is in great shape, including the box! The monopoly set gets well used here at times though.
Used to get those snap-together models, monsters and such.
I figure my best toys were my bike and toboggan. Always used them, and had fun with them. Hauling papers door to door to deliver, either by sled or in a canvas bag while I rode my bike.
Smash-Up derby cars....they'd bump each other and parts would fly off. Lawn darts...saw a full set still in the box for sale last year. Not for the kiddies, for sure (although I did have a set when younger!). Hey, you dumb enough to stand down-range of them, you get what you deserve.
A BB gun...just a low powered one, that could poke a hole in wet paper....or a thin sheet of it. (Naw...it was a bit better than that.) Still fun for us though.
Tip-It...that little bugger would always go leaping off as soon as O touched the disc to lift it off!
Twister....this game gets way better when you're a bit older...hehehe...
any "street hockey" things, from a stick to a ball or sponge puck...if you had a net, cool!

Or what was that game that you had to put the little plastic piece in the correct shaped tray before time ran out and the tray launched them everywhere? Here's an oldie; before anyone knew what to do with LCD there was a little toy called a "Fidget".

BUT my evil older sister tried to take her from me one day and ended up ripping her in two. My Mom sewed her back together but she was never the same!

Anyone remember those :growing rocks"? Put a coloured nugget in water and it would grow into a staglamite like structure...very cool...but they were brittle as heck and would break easily. Just wondering if they could be stabilized with a spray on varnish or something....if I could find them.
