| Bread Pudding Posted: 12/27/2005 3:04:22 AM | I use a similar one to one on here but cut down on the egg whites to make it lighter.
Best tip is to add a double baileys to the custard.

| Bread Pudding Posted: 5/5/2009 12:27:07 PM | I found this Bread Pudding recipe a while ago, when I was learning how to make it.
I've never made this one, cause I think that the donuts alone are to sweet. But to use them as a base for Bread Pudding. Well, it just a wonderful idea, but I would die from sugar overload.
Still, I am sure that it would be amazing.

| Bread Pudding Posted: 5/17/2009 2:18:39 PM | I tried this and it's actually good. I used the type of vanilla pudding that needs to be boiled. The directions on the box states to add 2 cups milk but I added 2.5 to 3 cups and brought it to boil. Then I added 8 to 10 slices of Sara Lee cinniman raisin bread. I tore it into pieces and gently stirred into the warm pudding and let it set. Don't stirr too hard or long because the bread will dissolved in the pudding and you have gross... tastes good warm and cold. | |

| Bread Pudding Posted: 5/21/2009 9:14:31 PM | Substitute Italian or Portuguese "Sweet bread" for any other breads for a richer tasting Bread pudding. Cube it up and make it air dry on the counter first and it absorbs better.
The Cin. rasin bread is also really good.

| Bread Pudding Posted: 5/21/2009 10:02:56 PM | The cinnamon bread is VERY good to use, but the best that I ever made, I used some leftover Rye along with bits of other leftover bread, including whole wheat. It was soooo good! | |

| Bread Pudding Posted: 6/7/2009 2:00:36 PM | Ah, my mum has a great recipe for bread and butter pudding. She throws in raisins...mmmm!!
I don't think shrinkage is a problem. Anything with an egg base is going to souffle a bit. Perfectly normal.
As long as it was cooked in the center...and even if it wasn't...I wouldn't worry about it.

| Bread Pudding Posted: 6/7/2009 4:28:16 PM | My mother used to bake superdelicious bread puddim a la Brazilian art, with lots of coconut in it - would prep and toast it with bit brown sugar, and they're really coconut bought in the farmers market (on the beach) and instead eggs there was her own "connector" for organic dough. My granpa would do the jellies himself and fruits, well, in tropical weather that is really right on the backyard. I cannot recall anymore what she used instead eggs.
I just can't stand the eggs in it. How can I fix it without eggs? Anyone, help?

| Bread Pudding Posted: 6/7/2009 6:38:46 PM | Years ago dad came home with a recipe a worker from one of his companies gave him and asked me to make it for him on a weekly basis. He loved any type of bread pudding and said this was one of the best - simple yet tasty.
Peanut Butter, Bread and Raisin Pudding 6 slices white bread, cut into 1/2" cubes 1/4 cup butter, melted 1/3 cup peanut butter 4 eggs 2 cups milk 1/4 cup granulated sugar 1 cup raisins 1/2 tsp. nutmeg, preferably fresh ground
Place bread cubes in 1-1/2 quart greased casserole. In medium bowl, thoroughly blend remaining ingredients until smooth; pour over bread cubes. Bake at 350°F for 40-45 minutes or until puffed and brown.
Note: Serve warm topped with heavy cream, whipped cream, or a small scoop of vanilla ice cream.

| Bread Pudding Posted: 6/7/2009 7:00:55 PM | | Eyes - enjoy, dad and the kids liked it - I didn't. Kids usually wanted it with crunchy peanut butter while dad preferred the smooth. Sorry, warm bread 'n milk doesn't appeal to me. | |

| Bread Pudding Posted: 6/8/2009 1:55:50 AM | | Soak the raisins in a little warm water for 20 mins before mixing them in, they stay juicier and if one or two get exposed to oven heat they won't turn into tooth breaking rocks. One other tip is to use croissants if you just happen to have any old ones, taste even more buttery than the bread. | |

| Bread Pudding Posted: 6/10/2009 12:59:42 AM | Well, there are several possibilities. let's just start over. This formula makes four full steamer pans so adjust accordingly. The key is to bake until the texture is spongy and a bit firm when you push on the top.
Bread Pudding
Ingredients:
Margarine or Butter, pieces 1.5 pounds Bread, Texas sliced 10 pounds
Eggs, whole liquid 2 quarts Milk, whole 2 gallons Sugar 6 pounds Vanilla extract 1 cup Fruit****ail, industrial size 1 can Raisins 1.5 pounds
Nutmeg, ground 4 teaspoons
Procedure:
Heat a convection oven to 350 F, a standard oven to 400 F.
Tear bread into pieces as for stuffing and place in a large bowl.
In a separate bowl, combine sugar, milk, eggs, fruit****ail, vanilla, and nutmeg. Mix well.
Spray four full steamer pans with vegetable coating.
Put one-third of the bread in the liquid and stir. Repeat until the bread is incorporated.
Evenly distribute the bread pudding in the four steamer pans. Scatter the margarine or butter pieces on top of the pudding.
Bake for 25 minutes and rotate pans. Bake an additional 25 minutes and check for doneness. Bake until firm (pudding feels spongy) and golden brown on top.
Cool completely. | |
