| What men should never wear on a date Posted: 12/17/2005 2:29:32 AM | | I can rock a big belt buckle and tinted glasses... That's attitude! I swear "Kanye West" and "Lenny Kravitz" have sported the same look, and the ladies dig it. | |

| What men should never wear on a date Posted: 12/17/2005 3:34:34 AM | Pgooperman,
Hmmm... I'll be nice, even though clearly this thread has gone to your head. You are judging me as a person, and not the clothes that I would wear. I thought this was about what not to wear. You just tried to insult me!
Why would I need to be a "rockstar" to dress to a style, that I feel suits me? It's about the look and the attitude in which you carry yourself, and I've been told I wear it very well. So it's hard for me to take any fashion advice I see on a POF forum seriously... it's obvious you see a completely different outfit than I do! This may be an age issue... I'm a lot younger, and I pull this look off! I'm not a "rockstar", but I can rock n' roll... even as "Disco Daddy"!

I believe it's the attitude behind the look, that attracts the women, not the money. I'll give women more credit than that. Kanye, and Lenny have style, and the women don't care about their money... They are not getting any of it! The belt buckle and tinted glasses are just accessories. If you have the right gear, and the right attitude, you can make it work.

| What men should never wear on a date Posted: 12/17/2005 6:27:38 AM | gpooperman... you wouldn't mind flip flops, but no cowboy hats or buckles?
I like the fact that not every girl has my taste in men...someone needs to date the ones I don't want.
Seriously, I hope I would date a man for more than what he wears on his feet, BUT I can't stand flip flops or any kind of sandel on men. Men just shouldn't wear them..lol. Give me a real man please.
|
| What men should never wear on a date Posted: 12/17/2005 6:29:36 AM | | i certainly hope this is not a serious thread....gals, better get ready, the guys have their own lists about us and i hope they start a new thread about it. i was right, this society has turned into something incredibly shallow; and you all wonder why you can't find a nice guy. maybe he's wearing something you don't like so you never give him another chance to show you what a real jewel he is. | |

| What men should never wear on a date Posted: 12/17/2005 6:35:36 AM | Nohead, did he pee himself? And why did he have his jammies on?
No he didnt pee himself, apparently they were in the wash and he had to bring them so he yanked them out to show me.

Why does your list of acceptable attire not surprise me?
A would be style consultant living in California? LOL
Having visited most of California many times, I don’t think it very appropriate that anyone there comment on the styles of folks living in the Midwest or near the east coast. .

Ouch, Kel! I just threw away all my flip flops...wait...I live Florida and think I'm allowed!
I'm pretty casual but can clean up if need be!

| What men should never wear on a date Posted: 12/17/2005 7:30:58 AM | | I agree with everything on your list except the Grizly Adams Beard or the Toupe. That is their hair (or lack of it), and it is no concern of yours. I assume that if you are going on a date with a man you already KNOW he has a beard or a toupe, and if they were turn offs, you wouldnt have gone out with him in the first place. (although you could be missing an opportunity to meet a fabulous man who really connects with you.) | |

| What men should never wear on a date Posted: 12/17/2005 7:35:16 AM | It all depends. If you have a promise of intimacy during your e-mail experience and you know the evening is full of promise, I would definately keep one in my wallet. I knew a gal that keep a draw full of condoms just for the right occasion. | |
|
| What men should never wear on a date Posted: 12/17/2005 7:53:47 AM | If you are foolish enough to believe of a promise of intimacy before actually meeting the woman, then you might as well show up naked.
NEVER take that seriously, man.

wow a drawer full? Hmm sounds like a true professional to me. Hope it wasn't too expensive.

| What men should never wear on a date Posted: 12/17/2005 8:42:02 AM | petty, if a guy shows up in a cowboy shirt with snaps and i like him... great, the snaps open up quicker to rub his chest! if a guy shows up in a hawaiian shirt, great, i live on maui, most do. if a man shows up in a 3 piece suit and i like him, great! we are going straight to the alter... ha. ha. ... but if a guy shows up in a stripped shirt with pen pocket protectors, yuk, he best be loaded with green, a best friend or here to fix my computer, cause... no dice! | |

Boy, you got THAT right! I remember when I moved here from Ohio, 30+ years ago. I was shocked at how clueless CA was about fashion!! No one back there expects it to be like this, but the fact is, people out here are pretty laid back, and even when at their best, fashion-wise, there is no comparison!! I have been preparing my daughter for that as we get ready for the move.
Everyone just remember that this list is representative of ONE person's opinion, and in NO WAY reflects the opinions of the MAJORITY...contrary to what she may want you to believe. Most of us women are NOT that shallow...nor are we so opinionated as to believe that our views represent those of all women. We are all individuals, just as you men are, and that's what makes it so great!!!

| What men should never wear on a date Posted: 12/17/2005 3:17:56 PM | . Yeah, I know that Dceeee. But the post was so presumptuous that I just couldn’t resist jerking her chain a little. Actually, there is no set style in California. I have relatives and friends throughout the state and I blend right in most places with no problem. And yep, “pretty laid back” defines me almost perfectly, too. LOL
Actually, I’m only partly urbanized. They took the boy out of the country but they’ll never get all of the country out of the boy. I speak like a proper Midwesterner, but I can still talk country with the best of ‘em when I want to. . . . .
BTW, it could very well be that I have a woman friend your age who lives very close to where you are moving. Nice person, too. If I remember Ohio correctly, I think she does. She’s cool. Used to be the Haines leg model -- lots of stories there. (Had to through that in to stay on the topic somehow.) .

Important omission from the list of never ever wears for men on a date: Members Only jacket
Ksway:
Hi Pooperman, I agree and have never worn any thing you list, except I need new shoes. K, I can tell by the pics in your profile that you're a very sharp dresser.
Dceeee, you should check out the list of never ever wears for women on a date at http://forums.plentyoffish.com/2704176datingPostpage5.aspx. Hope you haven't worn that Santa sweater on a date. If so, you have committed one of the OP's fashion faux pas's.
