Posted: 12/18/2005 7:40:23 PM | Tall women may be sexy, but I like petite women. 5' 1", 5' 2". It's great when I can just swooped them up, twirl them around, and well...other stuff. And then there is the issue of heels. If a woman likes to be typically 3 inches shorter than her man, and she is out wearing 3 inch heels, and the man is say, like me, between 5' 10" and 5" 11", then that means she needs to be no more than 5' 4" to 5' 5".
If a woman is already 5' 9" and she wears 3 inch heels, she is 6 feet already. So with shoes on I am barely that, with say a 1" heel. So we are the same exact height. Most women do not want to be the same exact height as their date. So even 5' 9" for a woman can be problematic considering that the height of the average man in North America is 5' 9". | |

and as far as the high heels...i like better the stockings...

It isnt that I am not interested in women that are taller than 5'7 its just that there arent very many around. Most women I meet seem to be about 5'5. I can understand that a short guy might not be interested in a taller woman. I cant see myself dating someone who is 6 1/2 feet tall. I do like a woman who comes to about 5'11 - 6 feet with heels on...and not the super high but the average type shoe a woman wears out to a fancy night out.
But what we think we like rarely seems to be what we fall for. I have had people comment that I like short women but that isnt true. I like the woman just sometimes they come in a small package. | |

as far as the observation that they all have bad posture...wow?...as a basketball coach you should consider they are just tired and want to hit the showers...(consider picking on girls your own age ...and STOP cruisin' the highschools...(give em time to grow up!) and stop practicing your 'look' in the mirror!!! had a brother like that... just give me the willies)...

height, colour...and what the hell...religion(which is presented and enforced VERY early in life)...i very much adore and cherish a friend that is Muslem...though i cannot state i fully comprehend the basis of the religion...i DO respect her beleifs.
There are 'physical' points of an individual that can be open to ridicule and judgement....weight, smell...but even THAT should be done with the uttmost care and true desire to understand...talk to them and be truthful...

Most the guys i've dated have been shorter then me, until recently I met a guy that was taller then me by seven inches. The tables turned, i was actually a little intimidated by him. But that didnt stop me from dating him, it was a change and we adapted to our height and realized there's alot we could do that if he was shorter wouldnt been as much fun...lol.. anyways I do agree though we tall women get overlooked, 70% of the time. | |

It was intended as a possibility for the OP to consider when she asks "how come I get overlooked despite being tall?" I actually had in mind the one tall girl I had lunch with today. A person with a dilemma will make exceptions, and find that nothing was wrong in the first place.
I like women, dare I say "love" them! If she's black, hispanic, Irish, tall short, deaf she's a woman. All the same parts, all the same abilities (ok, some are outstanding...). Maybe I make this decisions because I would be too limited (like Midnight Muse) following society's standards. If life deals you lemons (be they tall or short) make some sweet lemonade! | |

Usually older women as well.
I turned 28 this year and my ex turns 33 in Jan, AND, she's 5' 10"!
(just using her as a reference btw....so don't be jumping to conclusions ppl)

A little more slowly this time: When I was a young lad, I noticed that one of the nicest and most attractive but self-consciously outsized girls, was hunching her shoulders at a junior high dance, because she positively towered over her date. I know why, because she confided her anxiety about her size to me one afternoon. Years later, she is still doing it. It's hard to break a lifelong habit. I frequently see the same thing on the street, and yes, it's just an assumption that it's for the same reason. On the other hand, nearly every *short* woman I see is striving to make the utmost of every inch God granted her - standing up straight, chin up, shoulders back.
So it's just a suggestion - if you're tall, don't be ashamed and self-conscious about it, be proud.
Is that clear enough now? I never said ANYTHING about cruising high schools. | |

When I'm talking with a woman 5'7" to 6'0", our eyes are at about the same level and we're constantly making eye contact, which I find very sexy.
Now I understand tall women don't like guys shorter, so I asked a tall woman about it this weekend and her response was that taller men make her feel "girly" whereas shorter guys feel like, "titsniffers", hehe. | |

I don't know why, but it always seemed my short girlfriends always ended up with the 6'2" guys. Oh well! Being a kinda tall girl (5'8"), I've never had a serious relationship with anyone taller than me. It just didn't matter when I looked into his eyes.
Having said that, I AM attracted to taller men, but height is not a deal breaker for me. If the perfect guy for me happens to be a couple of inches shorter, I would find him incredibly attractive despite height.
We are brought up as women to feel we should be the weaker sex, that our man should be able to pick us up and carry us over the threshold, that he should be bigger and stronger to protect us.
This ability to protect us is a confirmation of his masculinity.
Perhaps then, tall men grow up hooked into their strength and size as an important measure of their masculinity. Maybe tall men choose smaller women to help them feel good about their ability to protect them. I'm sure it's a subconsious thing that they are totally unaware of.
Shorter men have always had to exert their masculinity in other ways, some developing that dreaded short man syndrome, some developing amazing abilities in how they are with women- conversation, humour, sex.. there are many short guys out there that totally rock!
It's tough to forgoe centuries of instinct and attitudes. Smart people with open minds will do so. The ones that don't will let amazing opportunities pass them by. | |

Men, on the other hand, seek shorter women because shorter women make them feel more masculine. This is a form of vanity; a way to fill the void where self-respect belongs. Nevertheless, height, regardless of sex, lends anyone elegance, dignity and beauty. Taller women definitely got a better deal than shorter men.
Maybe, just maybe, were I not raised on hot dogs and Ramen noodle soup and McDonald's, I'd be 5'7 instead of 5'5. Thanks mom.
I was with a girl who was 5'7 for a while. There was nothing weird about it. I don't think couples in which the woman is slightly taller don't look unnatural at all. She was the one to pursue me though; I would never hit on a woman who's taller than me.
And it is true that taller women tend to scoff shorter men and generally treat them like nonentities, as if they're trying to preempt any uninvited attention. I get that all the time.
