As far as your theory goes, when someone walks up to you and says lets go....its hard to say no, I'm waiting for the tall one....lol | |

What a fabulous post! Being tall myself this is a topic I am quite familiar with!
I think in some ways you may be right about the instinctive thing. Attraction is such a funny thing. I think that it's more about confidence. I know a much taller girl who is much more confident than myself . She has every height of man approaching her all the time!!! For her it's a nonissue and she dates people based on their overall attractiveness. She told me that if I am not hung up on height (mine or theirs) my date will be less likely to feel that way.
I have found that certain guys will tell my friends that they believe that I am just too tall to date. I am 5'9 but I like heels. What can I say? I don't let shallow people like that get to me. I just remember that I am the bigger person. | |

It seems that Women want guys who are taller and men want women who are around the same size or shorter. Personally I don;t care we are all the same size lying down. Naughtical, I think you are beautiful and tall, money can't buy you love, so, other than paying bills, having money is very overated.
But then, I'm not shorter than you. I'd love to whirl you around a dance floor with you looking up into my eyes.
I know they are out there, but, I've never dated a girl taller than me. So, I don't mind tall girls AT ALL.

| One short guy's thoughts
Posted: 6/4/2008 10:09:32 PM | So it seems like a lot of the men here are highly tall, in the 6'+ range. Here's a viewpoint from the complete opposite end of the spectrum, my 5'1"/5'2"ish (and always short, not one of the kids that grew fast and then stopped) self. In my dating life I've had one girlfriend that was shorter than me, and although it was my longest and most successful relationship to date, it's really not my preference. Height isn't a dealbreaker to me by any means, but all other things being equal (brainpower, passion, athleticism, maybe a good dose of geekiness and curiosity thrown in for good measure) I'd much rather have a tall partner than a short one. This is for a couple of reasons-first off, just visually I find taller women to be more...well proportioned is probably the best way I can put, and second, I'm really attracted to strength. I have a very dominating personality (probably a side effect of the height  ) and I want someone who can balance that out...I don't want the challenge of breaking someone (as some posters have alluded to); I want someone I _can't_ break. And if I'm dating some dainty little short girl, I often feel like breaking her is way too easy to do.
Now, that said...I've been rejected multiple times by taller women. That part sucks. | |

I have a friend who won't wear heels because, most men she meets, are either her height (5'8") or shorter.
Personally, I'm 5'4" and feel I am short, so most men I date are taller than me. I do prefer a man being taller than me, probably because I am accustomed to that. It's rare to meet any man who is my height or shorter, as a result if I did meet a man shorter than me, I would probably feel out of place, but if I like the guy enough, then I would adjust. I have even dated men 6' +, probably because they are who I meet.
I think this is too much a sweeping statement, there will always be exceptions and personal taste is too varied. Some men like tall women, others like short, and women can also be the same. | |
