| Fave Canadian Bands? Posted: 1/26/2007 6:39:26 PM | Oh my gosh, I've having some major flashbacks!! Eeek--SAGA played at my high school. (I can't be that old!!)
Can't even count how many times I've seen MAX WEBSTER / Kim Mitchell live (my favourite). "Cat's in the bag, the neighbours holler, This party's higher than the Eiffel Tower". Kim always puts on a great show. Pye Dubois wrote some amazingly freaky lyrics. I've got every album--yes, in vinyl--now that's dating myself!!
domtheteddy mentioned LIAM TITCOMB. Saw him open for The Hip once. Really talented young man.
SIGNAL HILL, out of Halifax, is a super band to see in a bar (in Ontario they play the Grace O'Malley's in Ottawa and T.O.) Go out to see them if you get the chance. Always a good time.
Rush, Blue Rodeo, The Hip, Great Big Sea.....
So much up-and-coming Canadian bands--get to see as many as possible. Support your local talent. | |

| Fave Canadian Bands? Posted: 2/28/2007 5:40:49 AM | I grew up in Montreal from '55-70 and there were lots of great local bands. The band that became most famous was Mountain. Their equipment manager was a classmate and good friend and he had them play at our high school grad dinner, just before they changed their name to Mountain. Definitely not a tuxedo band. Other local bands were 'JB & the Playboys', 'Mashmakhan', 'Trevor Payne & the Soul Brothers' and 'Phase 2' (okay, that was the band I was in). There were many great Canadian bands...did anyone mention Steppenwolf? They started in Toronto as 'Energy' before moving stateside. | |
