At least they are honest in their profile. I know what you mean though. Most of the time I find the profiles are misleading. Its not that I want to come across as being shallow, but, often in the profile it says average weight. Well it seems to me that for many people "average" is actually a few extra pounds. Honesty is the best policy. My pics are all recent and I dont believe in false advertising. Credibility, to me, is important. When you meet that person for the first time and they dont match the description in theur pic and arent the same as their profile says, well, hard to trust after that and isnt that the foundation for most relationships being it as a friend or a partner?

That is the problem. What is average refer too. If 2/3 of the children today are considered dangerously overweight, does that not mean overweight is average. Why they do not put a weight reference with this I do not know. But it is just a general description. If I do the board test it reveals that I am not overweight. But when I step on the scale a different story is shown. According to an old medical book the weight for my height is recommended in the range 161 - 185 lbs. Now I am above 185 lbs. But what they neglect to consider is the percent of fat to mussel. The job I am involved in has a certain amount of physical exercise attached to it. Mussel weighs 2x more than fat. Therefore, am I the right weight for the height I am? According to the board test I am but the scale states differently. But with winter coming on I would surely look overweight to a person for the fact of having 8 layers of clothing on.

Just to let people know what a board test is for those that do not know. What you do is lay on your back on the floor. Place a board on your front and see which way it lays. If the board lies parallel to the floor than you are consider not over weight. If the board lies with a slope down to your face you are considered overweight. That is the simple board test. The book does not state what happens if the board slopes down to your crotch.

I can't believe how gullible I am. You mean people DON'T use real pics of themselves? What the heck is the point...if it's a lie it's all going to come out at the first meeting right? I think I need to go back review a few emails/profiles...GEEZ! I thought I was getting pretty good at this but it turns out I really am a green horn!

WOW, I didn't think this thread was going to get so much attention. I had to say something about the pics and profiles. I see that a few of you are really going to read a profile now than just going gaga over a fashion pic. It is true, that I have even caught myself judging by the pic and not actually reading. But I can honestly say, those pics on my profile are me, they were taken in april and june. And if the ladies would take the time to read my profile, I think they would like my pic even more. Diamonelle, you are not gullible, there are some people out there that post eye candy pics to attract you, just like a woman wears tight revieling (can't spell ) at a night club to attract a potential mate. We are all looking for the perfect mate, pretty or handsome. But ask questions to that person, because nothing is more ackward than the first meet, and having your hopes smashed into the ground by a lie.

Welp...after reading all this I'll be adding a few more questions to my interview let me tellya. And to think I thought I was being complimented when people told me I look younger than my age.....GAWD....I "am" gullible.

Diamonelle if you were one province closer. Well, you ARE a beautiful and classy looking lady.
A nice thing about a compliment is, it lifts the spirits and puts a spring in ones step. Now a days it is hard to compliment another person, due to it could be classified as sexual harassment. AND YOU ARE NOT GULIBLE.

Thanks,

I appreciate the full length pictures (I put one up of myself as well)... there is nothing like a great head shot with a slim build until you meet... and although the pictures is 3 months old the written profile vs. thr reality is pure fiction.

And you know what I like women of aqll sizes and shapes, BUT do not like to start off a relationship with deception...

BTW my pics are from the middle of October...LOL

I like others on here have met some that show old pics and they look nothing like they do today. Or the only pic they have is a head shot and what they desrcibe themsleves in there profile is not what they should have chosen. Personally I don't know how they expected to hide it or should I say lose it in a few days. Seriously I have met some girls that say they are athetic or average and they are bigger than that by at least a hunderd pounds. It sure is dicouraging to finally see the real truth when you meet them because after they lie about something so simple and obvious all I wonder is what is was not true about them. Sorry I just don't talk or see those types again. Nothing wrong with a large lady as a friend for me as they are many times great and caring people but be honest about it from the start as a freindship can only be built on honesty. My preference and opinion only there. Have a great day all...

Hmmm,.. i hadn't considered that i was being misleading by only having a head shot? I'm honest about my size whenever i talk with someone. But perhaps i should look to find a full body shot to add to my profile. I honestly just hadn't thought about it. i have a pic, thought that was enough! lol

I too have come across the 10 year old picture, but haven't as of yet met anyone that actually posted someone elses picture. I am sure both men and women are guilty of it. I personally prefer honesty, and get a kick out of the fakes and liars I have seen. There is one female on here that I recognized from another site, but the ages didn't seem to jive. I looked at a few more sites, and there she was on all of them, with an ages that were 7 years apart.
Her posted age wasn't the same on any two sites.
I scratch my head and wonder about these fakes thinking, do they really think people will overlook the fact that they lie?

Are you kidding? There are two men on this site who accidentally used the same male model pic - it's from a magazine or something. It cracked me up.

Ok, now that you mention it and I've studied a few pics and profiles and then MY OWN...I realized...ya....the pictures are deceiving. Mine were taken with a digital camera and on my computer you can see every wrinkle...yep...I got'em....lots of em... but on this website everyone looks kinda smooth doncha think? So just so there's no mistake or intended deception....I HAVE WRINKLES!!!!

No Diamonelle, those are laugh lines, or happy lines. When I see a women with those, to me it means she has a happy disposition. Don't be hard on yourself.

I used a bunch of photos over the last few years. Then, I snapped a number of new and current photos. When I wrote my profile, I tried to write an accurate description of the things that I find important in life. Is it perfect? No....I'm glad about that. I'm real.

Really, what's the point in lying? I am not overly comfortable with my appearance, but I'll be damned if I'm going to sugar-coat who/what I am.

Here is some food for thougt

POF is free ( thanks Admins)so I do not believe my following commenst apply to this web site - but many sites are pay to use - and guess who has to pay - yep its usually the men - many pay sites are unscrupulous - they will post many profiles of really attractive women in the hopes of getting men to join up --- I would not put it past them to be then initiating contact with men using the fake profiles - all to make some $$$$$

Oh yeah and at least this place allows bare chested shots of men in respect to full body shots --- many do not

I try to post pictures that are all-encompassing, ones that tell people about the things I like to do and a little about my personality. I've got one up with me in a do-rag. Do I care if people don't like it? No, because I'm real and that outdoor look is part of who I am. But although I think pictures are important in a profile - looks are at least a little important. You want to be attracted to the person - some of them really don't do a person justice. It's better to see the person face-to-face, not just for the looks, but also to get a feel for their personality.

I've seen some pictures, however, that make me go, "Dude, you've got three chins. You're soooo not athletic and toned."
