All i usually seem to find are women who can talk the talk but can't walk the walk. So far i have had 3 women from here run from me. They find out that i am not like a lot men. I don't play' bullshyt' cheat' etc' etc. I know how to treat a woman. They say they want one that treats them right and say they have never been treated right' But when i come along and treat them like a lady they run. They say they get scared. So they take off like a immature school girl. I know' I shouldn't let it bother me. But sometimes it just does. | |

Plus I've hit the age where men are having their mid-life crisis and seem to want to date women 15 years their juniour.
As for all the guys who say they don't understand women, don't try - just accept us the way we are and we'll do the same. Vive la difference, we're all people afterall.

Everyone I know was married out of high school, and I didn't want to get married in my early 20's.
The ratio of single women to men is 10 to 1.
I'm not "small town" enough to get along with most of the people in my small town, nor "big city" enough to get along with big city people. | |

Posted: 3/21/2009 6:29:57 PM | I dont know which is worse-- having married, had a son and divorced for over 10 years and NOT FINDING ANYONE or never finding anyone and at least not having to deal with the knowledge of what its like to be betrayed and hurt (my ex left for my best friend) and having to live with the sorrow of seeing your son hurt because the father spends no time with him and would rather be "dad" to his new wife and her kid.
I dont know-- at least youre spared the misery of so many let downs.
So I guess I dont get as much of it -- though its hard sometimes being single -- just cause I like the idea of having someone to talk to and of having companionship and regular sex.
I think its more about your experiences and how you feel about life than what others think ... better to be single and happy than married and miserable... | |

Posted: 3/21/2009 10:15:23 PM | To ask of someone "why are you still single" would be implying that this person has been single all their life,or for the great majority of it. I would think that very few people have always been single and have never been in a long term committed relationship. For the rest of us we have been in relationships and for one reason or another we are no longer with those people.
I see no special reason to run out and jump into a relationship or to stay in a relationship that is not going anywhere, is damaging or where there is just no romantic love for the other person. I don't know if I will ever get into another long term relationship or if I will ever get married. Whether I will or I will not is not really a great concern for me. Sure of course it would be nice to fall in love but it will not be the end of the world if it does not happen again.

Traditionally, stereotypically, it is men who have "commitment issues."
I am still looking.
I have met several Mr. Rights...okay one or two.
And, I have enjoyed LTR with a couple of them.
Those relationships lasted longer than some people's marriages.
However, there is no "Mrs."
I think people want simplistic answers to complex questions.
"Which country and western song are you?"
They all know the one that goes, "He/She was an a-hole and done me wrong."
But that wasn't what it was.
Timing and opportunity and and and...all of these play a role in our choice of mate...or lack of choice of mate. | |

Posted: 3/24/2009 1:25:46 PM | Yes, women ask me the same question, and in a way it can be a tad annoying. Yet, when I ask them if they would like to go out sometime. Their answer is no. and then they wonder why I am single.
Dude. Don't you read the Forums? Women want the perfect man. You're not perfect dude. Get to work, on that perfection. So, here's a list some of which I already have but, I'm not going to tell you which ones.
1. You need all the money in the World, so come up with some Madoff idea.
Women say they want a confident man, that doesn't need money to be confident.
So, tell those homeless folks asking for change "no", come back when you're confident.
2. Closet full of Armani, Boss, Bugatti, Canali, Versace, etc.... garments.
Women just love a man who dresses nice. Oh, yeah they (the garments) have to be suits, $450 Armani shirts don't count. Once again #1 doesn't count, just be confident when you run out of Harry Rosen's with an arm full of thousands of dollars worth of brand name clothing, you didn't pay for.
3. At least 30 bottles of the best name brand colognes.
See #2 above there are others but this is a good starting point. Again. #1 doesn't count, be confident when you're speaking with the really attractive female frangrance sales clerk in the mall, just beg her for a few hundred samples of all the brand name stuff.
4. A Bently, Lambo or any other Euro trash vehicle.
Everyone has the BMW, Mercedes, etc.... So, no point in having one of those. Oh, and before I forget, once again #1 doesn't count, be confident when you go to GTA Exotic Car Motorcycle & Boat Rentals (416) 253-2180, and slap down you credit card to rent a $500 p/day Lambo.
5. Minimum height these days is 6'4".
6'0" doesn't count anymore, they want to see underneath you're chin nowadays. Makes them feel really protected, no-one can punch you out if you're that tall. This isn't a big deal really, you can have your legs broken and spliced back together to stretch the bones. Remember, no pain no gain. And, breaking your own legs is free so, #1 doesn't count again, we have free health care in Canada so come here if you're not Canadian, we'll fix you up for free too. Us Canadians are so nice aren't we? Another benefit, you can be a baller / shot caller.
6. 250lbs. minimum, solid rock hard Arnold muscles from back in the day.
So, if you're 6'4" tall you gonna' be real boney if you don't weigh in at 250lbs. dude. Eat, eat, eat, lots of protein and 5 - 7 days a week in the gym, minimal 2hrs. a session with a certified trainer. Again #1 deosn't cout see if you can get a trainer who works pro-bono, and just travel to moms every day to eat.
7. Condominium in Toronto, 7000 sq. ft. house in the burbs, cottage in the country and a few summer getaway properties in Europe, Carribean, and Middle East (Dubai).
Come on now, didn't you know about this one? This one is really, easy, if you take a real estate course you can learn about squatting and the laws around it. See #1 doesn't count here either.
8. You must not have children, or previous relationships.
That's called baggage dude. Hide from your ex. wife, don't pay your alimony or palimony and when your license is terminated, just get a chauffeur to drive you around town in one of you exotic vehicles. #1 doesn't count here either, because, now you can afford the exotic car while your kids are starving and just like the $500 p/day rental fee, they'll (the exotic car rental) will hook you up with a driver too if you want.
9. Must be willing to raise / provide for some other gentlemen's children.
Dude. Get with the program. Open up a few RESP's in advance. Start with two. And #1 doesn't count here either, credit cards work here too, and you can give your childrens dollars to the other guys children instead.
10. Exude 18th. century manners, and the personality of a trained celebrity, but must not be an obnoxious chovenistic pig.
Honesty, chivalry, confidence, patient, generous, loving, charismatic, funny, tolerant, understanding, Kama Sutra, etc..... Of course #1 doesn't count here, we were all trained to be celebrities in High School, don't you remember? See, so #1 doesn't count here either, that training again was free here in Canada, or was it? Well if it wasn't your parents paid for it anyway, right?

I'm mostly an introvert who's more comfortable spending time at home than going out and being part of a crowd, although I will do that sometimes. I don't drink, so you won't catch me at a bar with a beer in one hand. I'm a Pagan Druid, so you won't find me at a church on Sunday mornings with a Bible in my hand. At 5'7" I'm not considered tall enough by most women. I'm not rich enough. I don't have a police record. I didn't play sports in high school or college. In my adult life I've moved around so much because of school and work. My best chances at having relationships was when I was in college, and for the most part those days are behind me. So there you go. | |

I am single through my present choice. I was in a long - term relationship, and I walked out on her and our four children. My ex partner, she is a control freak. I was a victim of her anorexia, and decided I could not stand it no more.
If your unhappy, we have a choice to move on, and thats what I did.
I have been sinlge for four years, and I am waiting for the time to come to connect with someone. I use dating sites to no joy, but still perseverve, and when the woman comes along, bingo... another relationship begins.
Never give up hope, and if your unhappy, we have a choice to try a new direction.
I do enjoy being single, and it can be very rewarding. But, I would rather be with a woman for the rest of my days.
