| Would you Canadians move to the U.S,Would you Americans move to Canada if you met someone on here? Posted: 7/18/2007 6:54:14 AM | I am very spontenious, so I guess I will have to answer this question with a YES! I love the states and of course I love my home country Canada, but I look at it this way I don't care if my love was in Canada, the States, the UK if he was the one I would be prepared to move. Reason: I am moveable most men my age are not, they have established careers etc. , my one child is grown and self sufficiant, I am free to do as a choose.
MMMM, easy for me to say since I met someone from here but hey there were some men I met in the States and one or two in the UK that mmmm if things were right I think I may have considered it.

It contains links to the States, and, if I remember correctly, other international locations.
Anyway, I'm not particularly into camping unless it's not in a tent. We tented when I was a child and I have no fond memories of that. If you're ever here for a visit, let me know--we can have coffee or supper or something.

Everything else is just 'stuff' and can be dealt with. Your family will still love you no matter where you are. The great job and money will leave you cold in time without love. Just think of all the people on POF--and are still looking--in spite of good jobs, homes, etc. I am a US citizen and have a home in the states and one in Nova Scotia. Would I live there permanetly if I found someone--of course. In fact, that is the water that I have been 'fishing' in. Gee--didn't someone say the Maritimes has the best fishing of all? If you have young children of course you have to consider that--managing time to see the other parent--but you know--even that can be worked out. Kids adjust when they are given a good foundation. Both countries have some very similar things and there are some very big differences too. Both countries are big and quite diverse--not only in weather, but both have cities and small towns. Customs, slang and politics can vary from coast to coast and top to bottom. I think Canada does far better with preventative health care (because everyone has access to it). The US has good health care too--if you can afford it or if you are quite poor--thank you Michael Moore. BUT---love abounds in both countries. Everyone needs and wants to love and be loved. It is about the future you plan to build together--all living and loving is based on compromise. It shouldn't be "I'll love you if" but how can we make this work.

Posted: 7/19/2007 8:58:18 PM | | No way I'd move to Canada but I'd redecorate my home Canadian style, if there is such a thing, for the right lady just to make here feel at home. Off my next comment don't believe any north of the border ladies will be headed my way though. Ever since Canadians boo'ed our national anthem, believe it was at a hockey game, my liking that country ended. Right or wrongly so......

Posted: 7/19/2007 10:48:29 PM | Well ever since I heard about a guy who pulled a gun on my families neighbour in the US for putting up a Canadian Flag on Flag day -- emmm I think booing an anthem is the least of your countries worries.
Only culture shock you have to get used to here is -- Tim Hortons Coffee, nice people, snow, and free healthcare, and much better restaurants, beer, wine and pubs.
...Ok maybe I will shutup now before the migration begins.......

Posted: 7/21/2007 12:58:41 AM | | A Mail from Canada made me regret my remarks earlier this thread. With our leader out of control boo'ing our anthem was a peaceful "you guys are screwing up." A while back good mod Late informed Americans are liked while our current government is hated by many. There in lies the problem. Our government is of the people, by the people, for the people. So the government is us. (in theory at least) Anyway to cut this short I'm back to liking peaceful Canada just like always. (like anyone cares) Still for some reason I felt the need to post this retraction.

So the government is us. (in theory at least) Anyway to cut this short I'm back to liking peaceful Canada just like always. (like anyone cares) Still for some reason I felt the need to post this retraction. George Bush Junior? Where do I begin? I remember when his dad was president. In 1992 I voted for Bill Clinton because I didn't want Bush Senior to get reelected. If he did, I would've done my best to emigrate to another country. Funny thing is, I had a conservative boss who said he would've emigrated to Australia if Clinton had gotten elected, but he decided not to. After all, in 1994 the Republicans took over Congress. Sad thing is, if Hillary or another Democrat becomes president, you'll see the GOP retaking control of Congress. And the Republican candidates out there are quite moderate when compared to Bush. With the exception of the northeast coast and the west coast, this country is quite conservative. Their base is mostly made up of "Jesus freaks" and supply-siders. Yesterday I was on YouTube and saw a lot of derogatory comments made about a girl's video who was saying the health-care system in this country is screwed up. So obviously there are a lot of supply-siders who are happy Bush is president so they won't have to pay more taxes to make sure everybody has affordable access to health care. My own dad is one of those people, even though he says we need some kind of national health care system, but not like the one Hillary proposed in 1993. But to give Bush and the GOP some credit, about 2 years ago they made Medicare Part D a reality and now one of my prescription drugs is a lot cheaper. Before it was over $200 a month.

Posted: 7/21/2007 9:21:21 AM | | think it would be like any other move. other than currency, and weather. culturally it would offer alot of the same things. a consideration would probably be job opportunites. another consideration maybe the need for a passport just to get through the borders. few years ago it was easier to get in between the countries without passports or certificates of birth. probably depended on whether you went through near Vancouver or Ontario or other. US border patrol began making people show certificates of birth or passport just to get to Canada over the past couple years. so traveling to visit family would be like traveling to any other country. but if able to find a suitable gal would consider probably anywhere. for me location would be less of an issue. rather work conditions, and ease of travel would

| Would you Canadians move to the U.S,Would you Americans move to Canada if you met someone on here? Posted: 7/21/2007 9:47:15 AM | That is a good question and one that I have struggled with myeslf.
At work, I met a wonderful man in Toronto on a business trip. He was in town for three days and the connection was instantaneous. We saw each other at work for those three days and went on one date.
Sparks were flying from the first minute we started talking, the date was the best of my life, and we kept things very respectful. On the last day, at the end of our date, he took my phone number and we have spent months texting, talking and emailing. And even with the distance, there are still butteflies when I see his number on the phone and a smile on my face when he leaves me a hilarious phone message.
There has not been another opportuntity to see each other so we haven't been able to see if the chemistry is real or whether we have built a connection based on the adrenaline of only having three days to get to know one another, face to face.
If we had more opportunities to get to know one another, and it was determined that he is the man for me... some of my fears about moving to California would include:
1) leaving my twin sister and missing out on knowing my baby nephew/god son 2) having to drive from Toronto to California with my 4 cats and a dog.. and the difficulties of frequently visiting home with all of those pets 3) having no friends or family nearby and having to re-establish my social circle and not knowing if I will like his circle 4) finding out that we don't have enough in common/different living styles 5) being able to get a job in my field
As I re-read my worries, they have less to do with crossing the border and more to do with distance between the city that I was raised in and the ability to get home quickly. These issues would still persist if he lived in BC or NFLD too.
