| Would you Canadians move to the U.S,Would you Americans move to Canada if you met someone on here? Posted: 8/15/2007 9:53:55 PM | I have been there and done it both directions!!
Im from the US and met a man from Canada in 95. We married and moved to Winnipeg to be near his family leaving all my family behind. I was soooo sad cause i was so overwhelmed. I hated it for about a year but after I got into the swing of it loved it. He died and after a time I started dating another man from Winnipeg. I felt my kids and I needed family around so I told this man I was moving to the US and he could come with me if he wanted and that I loved him and wanted him to come with me. He did and I am so grateful. But I wish more then anything he would have threw a bucket of ice water in my face and told me to get a clue and stay in Winnipeg!! Cause now Im down here feeling stuck and need to move back!

| Would you Canadians move to the U.S,Would you Americans move to Canada if you met someone on here? Posted: 8/16/2007 12:49:51 AM | I moved to Florida so I wouldn't have to deal with the snow and cold anymore (sigh ... I fell on the ice twice in 11 months and my back has not been the same since). I'm a nurse and do not know if the Canadian Gov't. would acknowledge my credentials. Without being able to work as a nurse, I would not be able to support myself.
So if I were to find a man and want to move to (Canada) to be with him ... I'm thinking he's gonna have to support us both until I figure out a way to work up there. Okay, granted I'm getting up in years, so I guess I could become a "Wal-Mart Greeter" or something like that ... do they have "Wal-Mart" up there?
The bottom line is that I'd go where my man wants me ... he'd be the most important thing to me in my life.

| Would you Canadians move to the U.S,Would you Americans move to Canada if you met someone on here? Posted: 8/16/2007 1:18:55 AM | I wouldn't mind moving if I found the person I feel I was mean to be with.... Heck I'd move to timbuktwo if it meant love lol but I'm strange like that.
But I would miss Canada and likely come back a lot. I love the winter and the cold, I love it when I say I'm from Ontario and people from other countries think I live in an igloo (It's happened more than I would have thought) And I LOVE LOVE LOVE Making fun of our government. They’re like a disobedient child...They whine and squabble, They blame the other children for spilling the milk, They spend a lot of time hold up in a big room with others where they pout argue accomplish nothing and they're Absolutely horrible to attempt to discipline... but every now and then they show that they CAN do something right and say they're sorry and aren't so bad. I also love the fact we have 3 languages.... English, French, and NEWFY/Maritime and I can speak all 3 lol (Ok ya sorry the second paragraph goes off point but I had too lol)

| Would you Canadians move to the U.S,Would you Americans move to Canada if you met someone on here? Posted: 8/16/2007 1:58:42 AM | Didn't really want to read all 33? pages of this thread but it's question close to my heart! Since I was a kid I've always been attracted to the desert - but there's no desert in Canada. I'm on a student visa in SF and if (and only IF) I met the right person would I marry to live here. I've dated a lot over the years I've been here but there hasn't been anyone I'm enamored enough with to marry. Other than that I think it's easier to find a job and a company to be a sponsor. The trick is finding the job!
As to healthcare, I *just* watched "Sicko", and though I take the facts that Michael Moore presents with a large grain of salt, I think healthcare IS better in many other countries but that still doesn't stop me from wanting to make the US my home.
Wish me luck! | |

Posted: 8/24/2007 9:31:59 PM | | alot of canadians dont realize that they themselves are equally, or even more arrogant than americans..the constant american bashing is something you dont see americans doing about canada..im a dual citizen, and have lived half my life in each country (born in canada though), and ive gotta say, i strongly believe americans are generally nicer people..i love when canadians bash a country because of what somebody says on the news, especially when they havent even visited the place!..also, a majority of the canadians that ask where im from dont have a clue on earth where it is on a map (im from a major city), and theres no reason to do canadian geography when you live in a neighboring country of nearly 400 million people..canadians, get real! stop with the uneducated, meaningless, useless negative comments!

When you americans grow a spine and stop letting big business rule your lives. IE. Please take my civil rights as I am soooooooooo vewy scared for my safety. :) AND. Take back your country and your liberties. AND. Start backing real people and become informed about politics. AND. Grow a brain. AND Start becoming informed instead of watching the latest reality show and eating yourself into obesity. AND quit buying yourself into debt do us part. You may need help understanding this last suggestion. Duhhhhhhhhhh. :)
Oh and your health care insurance is a joke. Corporate frigging bottom line joke. Like your president and your politics. You friggin puppets. Whatcha gonna do? Besides beeeeatch and whine.
Then maybe. MAYBE. I would move there.
Of course you can just believe big brother cares for you. LMFAO. Big brother cares for his/her family and their interests only. Get a grip people. Get angry and do something. Otherwise. Shut the fvck up.
Oh AND become informed about CANADA and issues around you, you pompous arrogant world revolves around you philosophy dum dums. :).

I dislike snow....
Actually the snow itself I don't mind as much as the cold that comes with it. If we could get snow at 80 deg F... I wouldn't mind it.
Realisticly... people in the age bracket that I'd be interrested in, won't be too interrested in uprooting their lives and moving 2000 miles south. The commute for a date would be a bit too long... and its not a good idea to make that big of a move without at least having gone on a couple dozen dates.
So, the logistics just say it won't work.

Its not that we hate all Canadians... we just hate the ones who are obviously ignorant and put down the US with thier grossly incorrect assumptions.

neilalagel: there are plenty of desert conditions in Canada. There is a lot more to Canada than Vancouver and Toronto!
chocolatenutt: Yes, you're right! But for me it's all about latitude (as in latitude & longitude). I fell in love with hot dry climates when I was a child. Even though one can find desert-like climates in Canada, there's nothing like the buttes, mesas, and red rock found in places like Utah, Arizona & Southern Cal. Plus there's sun! The Pacific Northwest is gray & dull 80% of the year with lots of rain, and the east coast is too cold in winter for me. I'm used to living in or near a large city and the American south has a number of terrific places to live.
Canada is a wonderful country and I am proud of being a Canadian but all I know is, the further south I am, the happier I get!

Posted: 8/26/2007 8:38:15 AM | Designingwoman: Believe me, our federal government in Canada is not any better and it doesn't seem to matter which party gets elected! But, if you come to Canada, we would welcome you with open arms!
Anyway, I would certainly move to the US for the right man! Who's to say that the perfect match for you is going to live in your region. The Internet has made it possible to meet and connect with people from all over the world. I would move to the ends of the earth for that special person!!
I'm at a crossroads in my life right now and would welcome a new environment! I have a great job here, but it's one that I could do anywhere. Other than my family, I really have nothing here holding me back.

| Would you Canadians move to the U.S,Would you Americans move to Canada if you met someone on here? Posted: 8/26/2007 8:53:33 AM | | I had always considered moving to Florida growing up and always felt Americans were very hopsitable people, I also grew up watching US television and felt a strong kinship to Americans through shows like ABC schoolhouse rock. Now, since 9/11 I noticed a lot of xenophobia from Americans towards brown people, people who look like they could be 'terrorists'. I would be concerned about harrrassment at the border. So no I probably wouldn't want to be stuck in yahoo-land and there will be no brain drain here. | |

| can/us Posted: 8/26/2007 9:19:28 AM | Sorry to interrupt your U.S.A bashing party.
Your right fredhh, just the dumb, ignorant ones who open their trap and spew idiotic assumptions.
No matter who our president is, he or she will never lose sleep at night worrying what a few loudmouth hard up, POF'ers in canada think about our foreign policy.
