One thing though, must go easy on 20 yr old Republicans for they know not what they are thinking! Maven, you have no idea how badly I feel for young people caught up in the maelstrom of "deadly" politics... like the twenty year olds getting their sorry *sses blown off in Iraq...
But, notwithstanding anything I have heretofore had to say, my sweet love, where ever you are and whatever your politics, I'd go to the ends of the earth for you; whither thou goest, I will go; whither thou rest, I will rest; whither thou vote...well okay, I'll need to give that some thought...

| Would you Canadians move to the U.S,Would you Americans move to Canada if you met someone on here? Posted: 12/23/2005 12:10:38 PM | I had a lengthy post all typed up and then realized 2 pages into this thread that it had become more like political rhetoric and national chest thumping. I’ll just say no. ~delete~.
If I was contemplating a move to another country because I had met someone, I wouldn’t be concerned with the pros/cons of gun control, universal health insurance, whether or not it was legal to smoke pot, whether George Bush is a closet Democrat, state paid child day care, illegal immigration, the next terrorist plot or the price of a six pack. Although if the move is to gulf coast of Florida you may want consider the price of homeowners insurance.
Slacker msg 52 …. is right. Work and the weather. The weather I could acclimate. So it would be all about employment. But this is all hypothetical.
For those that had bad experiences in the States, so sorry. Come to Florida, we treat ya right.

Wow thats a first. It just so happens that "without an opinion" I have managed to buy a house, start graduate school, buy a car, pay my bills, begin a career, and holy shit who would of thought that at the age of 20, and with no pertinent opinion that I could have accomplished all of that on my own!...So I believe that as hard working, well educated woman...and yes I said woman that I have a right to my own opinion, and you do as well! So if your opinion is that I have NO opinion, then so be it. But think about how educated that makes you sound in the process.

Posted: 12/23/2005 1:09:52 PM | Megd, I celebrate your accomplishments and have nothing on you but 20 something years of experience. I would be more than happy to hear your opinions again in 10 years and 20 years. Wonderful if they are all 100% the same as they are right now. Regardless of your accomplishments and achievements in the first quarter of your life, there is still 75% or more of it yet to unfold. Imagine if you have accomplished all of that by now what is left to manifest....mind boggling when you think of it. I will not bother to elaborate further or qualify my opinions or thoughts. Just establishing where I was coming from....somewhat. It was not my intent to insult you.
@yrsfrlve......you my dear flatter me!!

If my kids were not wonderfully settled I would relocate again without a qualm. I met their Dad and moved up here to Canada 11 years ago, and I have never regretted living in Cnanda once, although the marriage did not work out.
I love both countries and have lived happily in both. The cultural differences are not that dramatic and there are pros and cons to each.

Just don't get sick.
Most qualified positions offer employer paid (80+%) healthcare. You can also choose to pay a private insurance. It's still cheaper than what the Canadians pay for their health insurance through the taxes that they are paying.. Furthermore, the quality of healthcare here in the states is better. It's just BS that there's no healthcare here. Here in the US you have the free choice if and what insurance to get. In Canada you get forced into a government plan.

If your intent was not to insult me then the "oops did I say that" could have probably been processed a few more times before being posted! No hard feelings though, I know where I stand and what my opinions mean to me. But in my regards opinion and age have a negative correlation and really nothing to do with eachother. My 6 year old brother has an opinion, though often at times it is intertwined with his imagination he still has one. So from one who has "qualified opinions and thoughts" to another I will keep you posted on how the accomplishments are coming along!

why do the americans consider themselves the centre of the universe. makes no sense[
Most places here in the States that would be 'center' of the universe.
I'm an American (even a U.S. citizen), but I believe that while the approximate direction to the center of the universe (big bang point) may be detectable and measured through multi-national technological efforts, the exact center of the universe will never be known... at least not in my lifetime, at which point I don't give a...
