I would not believe OBL would be caught alive. Him and his henchmen will probably go for broke if backed into a corner.

But at the same time, I always suspected 'ol Saddam would be like that but in the end, we found him cowering in some hole in the ground and did not put up a fight. I am sure it is seen as a less than noble way to end a career is like Saddam.

OBL has things easy, sending out people to kill for him. But now if he himself is a person of violence, I suspect his years and years of the rich lifestyle will be evident when face to face with a platoon of soldiers ready to punch his card. He will probably wet himself and cry for mommy and daddy when the heat is really turned up against him.

I just wish we'd just tear down this border politics and get 'ol boy out of Pakistan. But do not be surprised if he is in either Qu'Tar or Saudi Arabia and calling the shots from there. Those are two of the safest places he could be, Africa being another.

I wish we could catch Osama. Maybe we could learn the true depth of Bush's involvement. In fact, that's maybe why we haven't caught him. I wonder if he's even still alive or if it's a Jack Ruby type of thing...

VERY VERY mysterious that he hasn't been caught yet...

I'm bored but I just thought I'd offer my two cents, FWIW. Usually, I don't like political debates because they often deteriorate into insults back and forth but I'll make a rare exception. Also, I don't like the polarized right-wing/left-wing attacks because I think that's an over-simplification that actually detracts from the main issues involved most of the time.

To be brief and describe my views in a nutshell:
I'm anti-Bush, anti-CIA, anti-Terrorists and I think basically every government is guilty of major corruption, deception and manipulation of their respective voting populace.

Regarding the capture or death of Osama Bin Laden, I don't think either one will solve any problems or be any sort of relief to combating terrorism. For every Osama that is thwarted or just dies of natural causes, another one is ready to take his place. The main problem which appears futile to stop is that the U.S. (and the West) is hated by so many people. The hate is so deep, with a passion, that makes it difficult to reason or prevent manipulation of those people. The U.S. exacerbated the problem with the invasion of Iraq upon apparent false premises and the resultant humiliation and neglectful actions that occurred during and following the takeover. Whether or not Saddam's Iraq had WMDs stored somewhere, the Islamic world hates and doesn't trust the U.S. more than ever. Everything the U.S. is doing seems to be full of ulterior motives and in the pursuit of increasing profits (i.e. Oil, military contracts) and imperial strategies (increasing control and influence of the Middle East).

Getting rid of Osama will not solve anything. Nor will continued fighting in Iraq or going to war against other Middle East countries or offending Islamic citizens or governments. The vilifying of the United States and Israel and the resulting consequences means the inherent hatred and distrust remains and it's going to be a very lengthy period needed to try to reverse the trend if it's not too late already. You have to consider the type of life many of these citizens in the Middle East have. Besides everyday struggle and oppression, they have been conditioned and encouraged to hate the United States and their government. Obviously, the Bush administration doesn't care about this one iota as there is no money to be made in diplomacy or reconciliation (planning).

Osama is looked upon as a hero in the Middle East, so gathering intelligence on him is an incredible challenge. He’s fellow Muslims, whether radical or not aren’t about to turn over one of their brothers to the infidels, even with their varying philosophies their ideology is “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.”

Its going to take a while to find Osama because there isn’t going to be a lot of help coming from the locals no matter what region he is hiding in.

The only reason he is alive today ( if indeed he is) is because we messed up when we went into Afghanistan. Before any action was taken there, locating him should have been the first thing done.

After finding him, every effort should have been made to eliminate him - then the war should have started. Doing it the other way around just meant he could escape in the inevitable confusion of the battlefield.

We allowed Pakistanis to "contain" him, and his ties to the Pakistanis ( and their secret service) probably allowed him to get a free pass. He certainly must have some support, as he needs a kidney machine to stay alive.

It's rare that caves have electrical outlets, unless someone had a lot of time to prepare.

As many have pointed out, Osama is not the be-all-end-all target of the terror war. Absolutely correct.

However, he is a huge political object, wielded as a reason for the unjust application of restrictive and invasive laws, the authority's abuse of power, and a gradual normalisation of the ridiculously undemocratic atmosphere permeating american life today.

Take him out, and a powerful tool is given to those who can set in motion the repeal of draconian, McCarthyite, Big Brother tactics now being employed by the state in the USA.

As the USA so frequently positions itself as the only superpower left, so too does it's policy influence it's satellites and dependants.

Hopefully, any change for the better would cross borders, and relax the global stress level, so to speak.
