I've been on Nuvaring for 2 years.. Had one time that it popped out and was 'lost', later found it under the bed... So yes that is possible...
I didn't notice any problems with it for quite a while.... in the last 6 months I noticed a huge difference in my sex drive.. went off of nuvaring for a month and started back on it and now I'm good again.. Not sure what happened there...
My partners have never felt it or mentioned that it was uncomfortable at all.
Periods... you can 'alter' your periods, you can take it out after 3 weeks and immediately put another in to bypass your period.. that works well... no spotting ever..
The only other problem I did have, only one time.. went maybe too far in, or my fingers were too short to reach it to get it out.. I had a panic attack.. lol.. but it came out and all is well now..
Its definately my favorite birth control..

I would never recomend the nuvaring to anyone. I was put on it in june of 2005 and after being on it for only two days I noticed some unusual things. First off, I had extreme mood swings. Throwing things, trying to hit, and the thing is, I had NEVER been like that in my life. Day three, I thought I was going insane. I couldn't stop sweating, my mind was going a hundred miles a minute, I could not be calmed down, I was crying constantly, and if I wasnt crying I was yelling at someone. I have several panic attacks.
By day four, I had to enter the hospital because of, what they called, a severe allergic reaction to the abmormaly high progesterone in my system. See, the Nuvaring does NOT use the same progesterone as that in the pill, the depo shot OR the patch. Because it has to give off so much, hey developed a new type, so that the nuvaring can be left in for three weeks. And they do not know if you are allergic unless you show symtoms. So it turns out I was allegic to the nuvaring. And if my doctor had only told me that it was even possiable to be, I would not have taken it. Now, I understand that not everyone is going to have a bad experience to it, But I am not alone. Myself and about 90 others who were also allergic to the Nuvaring, and not forwarned by their doctors, and some even told it was immpossiable to be; by their doctors, are currently trying to get it off the market. so that more women do not have to suffer what we went through. I will not say dont do it. Get all the facts. Do your own research. Decide for yourself.

I luv the ring. Guys have never been able to even notice it was there unless they're fingering me....think it came out once during sex, but i'm still not sure how that happened. Haven't had any side effects and y ou just take it out for a week to have your period, and then put another one in after the week is up.
one thing i've heard about this is that it makes women more horny.

There seems to be a lot of confusion in terms of nuvaring versus depo shot. The nuva ring is hormone based whereas the depo shot is NOT. I find that the first week I am on the ring I get quite ill(I am very sensitive to the hormones) dito for the patch and any pill has been a nogo. I take a herbal gravol(main ingredient is ginsing) which calms my tummy. I asked a doctor who said that the ring can be taken out for intercourse since it can be removed for no more than three hours. As for depo there are conclusive studies documenting bone loss and migraines-I was on it for 6 years and decided to find another method. All hormonal methods build up, then peak and remain constant in system, but the ring definetly has one of the lowest levels of estrogen which I love because anything else is too strong for me

I've tried all 4. The pill, the patch, the shot and Nuvaring.

The patch - WAS HORRIBLE, I hated it. Mood swings and emotional up and downs, itchy skin..ARGH!

NuvaRing - No major side effects, minimal discomfort, didn't like the fact it was always in me.

The shot - was awesome, EXCEPT, it depleats your bone density, sucks the calcium out of your bones so you need to take calcium supplements or drink LOTS of milk etc. After 3 years of taking it, the DR was amazed that I managed to keep as slim as I did. He said weight gain is usually high with this method.

And the pill. a low estrogen dose, so we'll see how it works out.

Bump!

Just curious how it is going for everyone. I'm thinking of switching to the ring due to lower hormones levels...and that I seem to forget to take the pill regularily. It is good to know you can take it out for a coupe of hours. So most don't find their partner's feel the ring, though I wonder if the condom material would cause friction and cause the ring to fall out/condom to break....then again condoms can be strong...and you can tak ethe ring out....

I just hope putting it in doens't hurt. When I tried the DivaCup I had never experienced such pain and discomfort....and how do you get it back so far? Hmm....

Bumpity bump!

New to the Nuvaring and been on it for 1 month now...about to put in a new one in a couple of days. My concern is the spotting. Is the brownish color normal and does it stop?

I took out the ring out after 21 days and no period yet. I feel it "coming down" but nothing. Is it dangerous not to have a period before the new ring goes in?

My doctor didn't say that the ring can go in back to back and not have a period. Is this something women do on their own to not have a period or is it okay?

I love this birth control method and the only one my doctor safely recommends for me at my age. Just concerns though.

If you want to have a stinky snatch, then by all means use the Nuvaring. Anything that a woman leaves in her box like that creates an undesirable odor. Yes you can feel it as well when you are having sex, at list my johnson did. I dated someone for quite sometime who used this form of birth control and I would not perform oral on her because of it. I talked to a friend who worked at a GYNO's office and she confirmed my suspicions.

When the Nuvaring was finally done away with, there was an obvious difference in smell and taste. Just my two cents....

My ex and I were on the ring for a while. It was GREAT! It did fall out once in a while but I had a great time putting it back in.
