| Can a smoker get a date with a non smoker? Posted: 1/16/2007 7:57:11 PM | I've had boyfriends and girlfriends that smoked. I admit I don't like it, and would perfer someone who doesn't. Usually I've met this person in real life, so I haven't "pre-screened" the way you do on the net.
But- - if I like a man/woman enough , it honestly doesn't matter. Just be conciderate. Go outside to do it, don't do it in the car. At least make a token effort to brush, chew some gum if you know we're gonna make out.
A smoker CAN date a non-smoker. But that's usually by happenstance and not by design.

| Can a smoker get a date with a non smoker? Posted: 1/17/2007 7:27:07 AM | I just started smoking again and I think a smoker can get a date with a non-smoker. I find with Internet dating, one’s profile and their pictures prejudges them. In person, we tend to give one another the benefit of the doubt. It's all a game. If we can keep it in perspective, which is not easy, a smoker can find a non-smoker date and vices versa. I find the men who I meet on this site who are smokers, are for the most part, real gentlemen about their smoking. I also am respectful of their feelings towards smoking. A person, whether male or female who prejudges me for who I am for my desire to smoke, at my age is not worse the time or energy to get to know. I have lost friends to early death, who lived a quote unquote-healthy lifestyle and are no longer around. Life is too short, pick and choose your friends on there genuine sincerity and not on their or your terms or lifestyle. As far as kissing a smoker, I have kissed some non smoker, who made the thought of kissing an ashtray more appealing. It's not always the right fit. I wish everyone much success in their search, after all, isn't that why we are all here? I think sometimes, one tends to forget that. | |

| Can a smoker get a date with a non smoker? Posted: 1/17/2007 9:16:48 AM | While I was a child growing up, both of my parents smoked. My ex husband was a smoker (still is). As is my sister and her husband. I have never smoked, yet I have chronic asthma and I depend on an inhaler at times.
For my health reasons, it's very difficult for me to be around smokers. I have nothing against them. Most are very considerate and try not to smoke around me.
Cajun, I guess what I'm saying is that it depends on the chemistry you and the person have. Some people can handle the smoking better then others.
Good luck, and I hope you find your special someone soon.

A true non-smoker? What the hell does that mean? We're some kind of cult or something? Geez. Just for that, I may just change my profile to include smokers- -I don't wanna be caught up in that intolerant crap.
I swear, it seems like the smoker is the last safe person to discriminate against.

| Can a smoker get a date with a non smoker? Posted: 1/17/2007 6:30:08 PM | I have never smoked or even tried (I trained as singer, so It kinda wouldn't be good for me). But I have an aunt and numerous partners that did. Let's just say I cared about who those people were rather than act like a total jerkoff over one personal failing.
As for you, I have one thing you can smoke... and that's my "plastic pole".

| Can a smoker get a date with a non smoker? Posted: 1/17/2007 8:58:03 PM | ^5 to you Checkoutmyprofile!
It think majority of smokers are just rude beings...you know what is sad...we can go out to eat and because you can't smoke inside now...all the RUDE smokers block the doorways as if this should be acceptable behavior. Hey,if they want to puff away and kill themselves good for them ,but please ALLOW me and my KIDS the chance to not smoke! I teach my children that smoking is just as bad as drugs. After all....it's addicting and when you think about it.. if someone was doing let's say X near ya...it wont lead to lung cancer later now would it...lol
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD SMOKERS- BACK OFF THE DOORWAYS OF BUSINESSES. This is the land of the free not the inconsiderate! Let us all have our freedoms- including the free choice not to smoke.
As far as work- we shouldnt be punished for not smoking...so tell you what Checkoutmyprofile....just when they come back inside...you leave for your 15 -15 min. breaks...tell them you are taking your "smoke" break.Let them cover for you! | |

| Can a smoker get a date with a non smoker? Posted: 1/17/2007 9:59:50 PM | I'd prefer non-smoker like myself, but a considerate smoker would not be a dealbreaker. I would not want someone smoking in my home or car as the odor would bother me as pet dander also bugs me. So I discriminate over large shedding indoor animals too. However, what people want to do in their own home, car, etc. is not of my concern. I would expect a smoker out of courtesy not to blow smoke in my direction.

| Can a smoker get a date with a non smoker? Posted: 1/18/2007 6:26:41 AM | Unbelievable.................how narrow minded some people can be. We are all different !!!!! One would think at our age...we would have figured that out by now. I smoke. I do not apologize for smoking. I raised two educated daughters who both don't smoke. I don't stand in front of doorways in public places smoking and I don't take cigarette breaks at work. Why are people so quick to judge. Take a verry good look at yourself....are you perfect ??????? ...... hmmmmmmmmmmmm...maybe that's WHY YOU WILL Probably SPEND A LIFE TIME ON DATING SITES....IT WILL GIVE YOU THAT STRONG DESIRE you need TO PREJUDGE EVERYONE WITH YOUR NARROW mindlessness thoughts.....just my two cents........ now please don't say I'm an exception .......I AM A SMOKER !!!!!! | |

| Can a smoker get a date with a non smoker? Posted: 1/18/2007 7:29:11 AM | i've been smoking for some time now. bear in mind , i'm only 20 , so not that long. probably since about 14-15. since i've started ive dated smoker's and non-smokers alike. what it all really just boils down to is personal preference. obviously if death from smoking is an issue in your family , you're gonna be bitter. now instead of taking out ur agression on the smoker's who didnt do sh*t to you, why not direct the agression towards your beloved self for perhaps not giving THEM the same bullsh*t speech that we hear from you everyday? at least it would have more pull with them than it would with the ppl ur insulting. now seeing as how the non-smoker's can act like a55holes on the topic, no harm in simply excercising my right to do the same from the opposite side of the spectrum. kudos to GreyStone1 for having tact. obviously not my strong point , but whatever. so whoever started this forum with the original q, it's settled. let's have no more useless bickering on subjects that've been clearly addressed. | |

| Can a smoker get a date with a non smoker? Posted: 1/23/2007 5:39:27 AM | For everything that everyone does in life there is a cult who opposes it. If you drink, there are numerous cults that will step forward to push their views upon you. premarital sex, thousands of bible thumping (sexually frustrated) cult members to condemn you. we are all free to make choices in life. If you go to a restaurant and there are people smoking at the front door grow a spine and complain to management. For every rude smoker there is a rude non-smoking cult member. bottom line....do not date a smoker if it offends you. that is your choice. In the same way that I choose not to date red-neck, pick-up driving, over opinionated cult members.

| Can a smoker get a date with a non smoker? Posted: 1/23/2007 5:51:12 AM | One more thing, the last time I checked the laws of wage and labor I get two 15 min breaks in my 8 hour shift. If you don't get two 15 min breaks in your 8 hour shift then as I said before, grow a spine and complain to management. It makes you sound ignorant to complain about others taking breaks when you do not get one. go ahead take a break, go outside and polish the chrome on your pick-up. text message other cult members for updates on the picket at the local smoke shop. your not doing anything else on a Saturday night anyway. you can even offer to carry the picket signs in the back of your truck.

| Can a smoker get a date with a non smoker? Posted: 1/23/2007 6:53:00 AM | | I will not date a man who smokes period. Besides the fact that smoking (and second hand smoke) is bad for you, the smell is horrible. It gets on your clothes, under your skin, your breath, everything....nasty stuff!!!!! You're probably better off hanging out places where other women smoke and perhaps you'll meet someone that way. I think smoking should be illegal....it's an addiction and it shortens your life span. I've seen too many people suffer and die from it.....perhaps it's time to quit once and for all! | |

| Can a smoker get a date with a non smoker? Posted: 1/23/2007 7:25:15 AM | | I have asthma and so do my children. I have been with a man who smokes a lot for about five years now. I think I just like so many other things about him that the smoking just doesn't matter. I do wish he would quit, but I don't bug him about it. I just know that's a part of who he is. I can't keep my car clean, and he just has to deal with that about me. Nobody is perfect. He smokes outside and is respectful to me about it. And I go outside with him also while he smokes some,so it doesn't alienate either of us. Although I don't do it all the time, because I get the feeling it is his alone time also. | |
