Posted: 6/23/2008 2:55:17 PM | legally when you turn 18 you are considered an "adult" but what about emotionally? 18 year olds are still kids, at least the ones i have known were. think back when you were that age, were you mature enough for marriage and all it's responsibilities?? probably not. - curveyone
We all age & mature differently, but in my personally experience, most 18 year olds were not kids, as you say.
Some people do mature different, I have met guys my age (mid 40's), who act like 18 year olds. You need to find
someone who is compatible with you, that unique individual that YOU are. Just my perspective.

I wonder if those that think this is ok, what be ok if it were the woman that was the older person. I wouldn't date much less marry someone 29, but in general would it be ok for a 51 year old woman to marry a 29 year old man(29 instead of 18, because 51 is 11 years older than the age of 40. The age of the man in this situtation.) Let's even throw in the idea that this 29 year old man already has 3 children from another marriage and doesn't want anymore children. These two people love each other, get along perfectly, have much in common. - bcsofnc57
Now there's the catch, kids. And in my personal opinion, the only thing that should matter, in an age-difference

It's all good, in my opinion, as long as both parties are treating each other with respect. | |

Age ranges have bounced all over the place for centuries - I figure it better for her to be with a good-hearted 40 year old, then a violent and drunk 20 year old. (shrug) | |

When I am 40 one day I want to marry a pretty little young thing , unbittered, unworn , still with hope , smiles at everything and loves to party , by that time I am sure I will still love to party .
People who marry young divorce jus tlike the older ones , what is the difference arses and biatches come in all ages
FINALLY someone on these forums has something right AND cool to say. I'm telling you these boards are full of wannabe love-shrinks it's mad annoying.
As for the age thing, I don't know them and I couldn't care less, so good luck to them. I too have nothing wrong with and am flattered to know that girls as young as 19 find me attractive, same goes to girls much older than me. Girls my age on the other hand have issues.
That and girls my age tend to want to dumb me down so no young ones can check me out. neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeext

Why because she is young and does not know better and two he does not have the ability to accomodate a real woman nearer his age.

I think you are trying to compare every 18-year-old to your daughters. They are not all the same, nor all your daughters. The fact is, I have not exactly been looking for anyone that young, and would generally consider someone that age too young for me maturity-wise and emotionally. However, I did meet someone that age, and she is the sweetest women I have ever met. So, without your approval, I am going to see where this goes. My only reason for being at this thread is to learn from the experiences of other women that were much younger, and learn from their experiences -good and bad - and their opinions. | |

What do we think about that? She's concerned about how I think about her (which is a first) and tries to impress me (I feel a bit sorry for her over that) but maybe the main thing holding me back is what other people will think. Hell, even I think it's wrong.
But there's an even more important point for me to worry about. She might kill me in bed.

love shouldn' t have barriers, well least i don't think so and judging by most of the population they also think the same.
who are we to say what is right or wrong, but the two people themselves are the only one that can decide that. its not sick as a certain person put on her, but a wonderful journey that two people embark on together, wherever it ends up is or no concern to anyone else.
"better to have loved and lost than not to have love at all" is my motto.

We also have a great deal of control over this (nutrition, habits, etc). Most 5-year-olds are very similar to other's their age, but the same cannot be said at 50, and especially not at 80. I know people who died at 60, and another that still is working at 100 (he is a doctor in northern Mexico). Take care of yourself, and make the most of every opportunity.
But there's an even more important point for me to worry about. She might kill me in bed.

The big picture...he will be 60, ready to retire, but will have nothing left because he will probably be paying for child support until he drops. Totally unfair to her and the children they may have as well. Not many of those May/September relationships last in my humble opinion. Sorry I am so biased on this one, but I have a half brother 15 years younger than me whose dad died when he was 8. | |
