Marc Staal is #14 and you will find him on the same defence line as Parent....they are quite the powerhouse together.
There are actually quite a few guys that made the team from our very own OHL
#4 Ryan Parent - Guelph Storm (from Sioux Lookout)
#7 Steve Downie - Peterborough Petes (from Queensville)
#14 Marc Staal - Sudbury Wolves (from Thunder Bay)
#19 James Neal - Plymouth Whalers (from Whitby)
#20 Bryan Little - Barrie Colts (from Cambridge)
#23 Ryan O'Marra - Saginaw Spirits (from Mississauga)
#27 Tom Pyatt - Saginaw Spirits (from Thunder Bay)
#38 Sam Ganger - London, Knights (from Oakville)
And of course we cant forget the coach, Craig Hartsburg from the Soo Greyhounds (born in Stratford)
There is also another tournament going on right now.....the Spengler Cup....congrats to Canada for winning todays game over Berlin 5-2 to guarantee them a medal.....

Well some good news and bad news from the Canadian teams the bad being Pat Quinns team couldnt win the Spengler Cup by loosing to HC Davos. Wonder whats next for Quinn? more commercials? lol or his own coaches Corner show lol
The good news being Canada goes undefeated in the round robin portion by winning earlier this morning 3-0 over Slovakia. The game will be repeated at 1:30 today so Ill be watching to see how they did it lol
Not sure when Canadas next game is as it all depends with the other matches as Canada is in the semi finals!

Should be a great match up as always but I'm confident Canada will be the better team tomorrow ;)
Russia will play Sweeden in the other game later on in the afternoon!
Well better go get some sleep as the action gets underway at 9:30 am later on today on TSN

OMG what an amazing game to watch, my heart was beating so fast and I was on the edge of my seat....at one point I couldn't even look at the tv screen.
The main thing is that Canada won and advances to the final game. Now we have to wait and see later this afternoon who we will be playing.
The talent in these young guys is just amazing. If you havent seen a game yet...be sure to watch the gold medal game.

Posted: 1/3/2007 10:38:26 AM | Way to go Boys ,they are sure going to have to play a much better team game in the gold metal match .To much of one player trying to do it all ,the usa looked much better today as they played a great team game ,but thank god for CAREY PRICE hero of the day .It does not matter how you win just as long as you do but very very lucky today .Lets turn it up boys for the big one and play as a team no one has to be the hero ,team effort will win it .I think the boys owe Mr Price a real big dinner and more ,wow what a classic .

Probably the most exciting hockey game Ive ever seen and this isnt even the Gold Medal game lol!
I had a feeling Canada was going to end up winning but for Jack Johnson and the rest of the USA players to answer the Canada goals it could of went on all day lol.
Price was solid in net for Canada and finally ended the game with a huge save in the shootout!
Whats the story on him has an NHL team signed him yet? if not the leafs should get him lol
Toews continues to be impressive and was huge today in their win!
It was defintely a nailbiter but once Canada tied the game at 1 you had a feeling they would end up winning. Gotta give credit to USA who played much better this time against Canada.
Some of my friends in the US dont even know about this tourney and they are hockey fans lol. Goes to show you that hockey is defintely Canada's sport!
Should be a great gold medal game against Russia who has played very well! Canada has to get the first goal or it may be a long game for us.
the battle with Russia begins on Friday at 12:30
Bronze Medal game between the USA and Sweeden is also on Friday at 10.
Can't wait to see the exciting conclusion to this tourney!

Posted: 1/4/2007 9:08:17 AM | ^^^^^^^^^^^ Carey price goaltender for Team Canada was drafted by the Montreal Canadains and is there property .
should be a heck of a game with russia but they will have to play much better than last game and play an all aroung solid team game to beat a very skilled russin sqaud .I think if the forwards play a sound team game and pot a few goals the defense and Carey Price will take care of there end ,we just need the big guns up front to supply some much needed offense and play together and not as individuals and that will bring the gold metal home to Canada again where it belongs .
Come on boys you can do it Go Canada Go Rock that arena and knock the hell out of them Ruskies and bring that gold home Whoooooooo Hooooooooo can't wait to see it .   | |

But here's the thing...I don't have speakers on my computer so I can't hear it. Does anyone know of a radio station that will be broadcasting the game?????

Posted: 1/5/2007 9:39:26 AM | USA has just defeated the host country Sweeden to get the bronze medal. Cousin was telling me about what Bob Mckenzie TSN analyst was saying about the Canada/USA game and there was a number of mistakes made that gave Canada the advantage.
Penalties not called against Canada
One penalty where Letang was cut.. the Canadian player should of got 5 minutes for that but didnt.
One of the shootout saves that Price made was right on line but they didnt really review it to confirm it was a save
After 3 rounds of the shootout they are supposed to change the order of who shoots first but they never did.
I was shocked when i heard all this but McKenzie sure knows his stuff and maybe it could be Russia and USA playing for Gold.
Its Canada vs Russia and the action gets underway at 1 pm!

Posted: 1/5/2007 10:19:26 AM | there are some differances in iihf rules and the rules we are use to seeing in the north american game ,yes bob made some good points but on the one about the save on the goal line and no review in the IIHF rules they could have gone back and looked at that 10 hours later and if they ruled it was in they could have called both teams back to do the shootout again ,that is the rule .the high sticking penalty rule is at the discreation of the referee not like the NHL where it is auotomatic ,just to clarify a few things if i can . as well the shoot out order differant rules under the IIHF then the NHL about who can shoot and how many times ,but i am sure this rule will be changed in the future as will others .

Although I am stuck at work its working out ok......TSN is about 10 seconds behind the radio. I can't have the game up on screen all the time (imagine that they want me to work...lol) but when something great happens on the radio I can bring up the game online and still see it actually happen.

Posted: 1/5/2007 1:32:17 PM | Once it got past the 15 minute mark the Canadian defense just shut them down and by the last minute the Russians had given up. They knew they were beaten. What an excellent defensive team and what can you say about Price. He was the difference in this tournament, he made the big save when it was necessary to keep us ahead.
BTW how many Russians went down like they were shot? Was the Canadian Forces sniper team up in the rafters? Was there a grassy knoll on one side of the rink? C'mon play the game like it is hockey not soccer! | |

Posted: 1/5/2007 5:13:55 PM | for the third year in a row the Canadian team coems home with a Gold medal and defintely deserves it with the effort today! Got a little nervous when Russia got on the board but Canada didnt let it get to them and shut them down in the third!
Price had his best game of the tourney and once he gets some NHL expereince under his belt he will be an exciting player to watch. Too bad the Leafs didnt get him lol :(
Local Toronto area boy Cogliano had a great game too. The whole team played well with some aggressive forchecking and kept the Russian goalie busy!
Canada also tied a previous record for longest undefeated streak at 18 wins!
One thing that was a real surprise was that Russia got payed half a mil for this tourney while Canada's played only got $25 a day lol. I think that is right lol
Well team USA is happy with a bronze although they wanted more but too late now to challenge the rules lol. I am sure they will review the current IIHF ruels and see what needs to be changed for next year.
Would have loved to see Sutter come back to coach this year but Hartsburg did an excellent job to coach the team to a Gold!
When does the team come home? tomorrow i guess eh?

Canada is keeping the winning streak alive and open up this years World Juniors with a 3-0 win against the host Czech Republic! They havent lost since the gold medal game in 2004! Amazing!!
Tavares of course is Canadas superstar player and had a great game today with a couple goals! Cant wait to see him play in the NHL...maybe as a leaf! lol
So many othet great players on the roster and Canada looks like they have what it takes to win their 4th gold medal in a row!

Canada takes on Slovakia tomorrow. An early start at 10 AM.
Leaf fans, Sens fans and all Canadians its that time again to come together and cheer on our team as they battle it out across the pond in the Czech Republic!

Posted: 12/29/2007 1:45:10 PM | Damn that game today sucked as Sweeden ends Canadas winning streak to 20 games :( Great start for Canada but Sweeden came alive and sealed the victory with just 7 seconds left!
The win sure was big for Sweeden and they may be in good shape to win a medel this year after missing out for quite a few years!
This loss sure hurt but I think Canada will come back strong!
LOL guess im the only one watching this?
Some great hockey happening folks and I have much more confidence in Canada than the Leafs these days lol.

Posted: 1/2/2008 1:59:06 PM | The semis are set Russia had a great game vs the Czechs today and move on to face undefeated Sweeden. So the host country will not be getting a medal this year!
As for Canada they finished off Finland with an empty net goal and will play the USA for the battle of North America!
Looks to be a great semi final as all for teams deserve to be there with their great play. Both games will be worth watching for sure!
I hope the Canada/USA game wont be too early on Friday but Ill set my alarm in case it is
I guess TSN will be doing the ladies world juniors also and im looking forward to watching that too!
