Have you ever fallen for someone on the net??

i found love online when i was very young. i met him in a chat room and we talked online and on the phone for nearly 3 years. we had 12 hour conversations, exchanged pictures and both had webcams. i knew him better than anyone else in his life. i flew to CA where he lives for his prom and we had the time of our lives. i still love him, but we are not together. the distance of 3000 miles when you cant afford to fly a lot is really hard...maybe later on down the road, we will be closer together.

I have met some people from different parts of the world that I e-mial with
and I care about.
On a local scale, So far everything has turned up craps.
Even tho I thought I was real close once.
But - that's pretty much the same pecentages that you
would be faced with without using the net to meet people.
The net just increases your contact outside of your usual
domain. Finding one you really click with is always going to be a rarity.

Yes I have. Twice. Both were long term (1.5 yrs - 8 months). Both were awesome face to face meetings, like we'd known each other forever. And both ended when I found out the other hadn't been completely honest with me (first one was in two relationships at the same time - second one had anger management issues). And yes, I'd do it again. If its meant to be it will be and that europhoric feeling at the beginning of a relationship, the one you hope lasts forever, is such a rush. When you can't wait to see if you have an email from him or turn your cel phone on to be surprised by a text message or a phone message. The anticipation of a first meeting.....sigh...

The one draw back is when you truly feel that he is the one..and then you meet face to face and discover there are no sparks at all....that sucks bigtime :(

Have you ever fallen for someone on the net??

A few months ago, I would have said no. Although I know several married couples who met online on the same game, nothing remotely like that ever happened to me, which is not very suprising given the male-female ratio on the games I played. However, one day there was a little bit of a crisis, and this girl and I tried to resolve it. We grew fairly close during the process, and I guess at some point I fell for her. She acted oddly when I complimented her, and didn't appear to enjoy it. If she lived within driving distance, I might have pressed the issue and asked her on a date, but she didn't. Unfortunately, we had an argument and do not speak to each other anymore.

....We have e-mail and chat at our finger tips... We don't speak or hear, the other person's tone of voice... We don't even see, thier facial expressions to our comments... We only see, pics that are placed in their profile awhile back... Not only that but, we have to spell out... in type, are emotions...

.....Essentially, just with the writing, alone... Both you and the writer are communicating at a different or much more deeper, level...

Gerry286, that is one of the most brilliant explanations of why the online attraction happens.

It really is all about feelings and communication. When facial expressions and vocal intonations are taken out of the equation, all that is left is the raw emotion. That is why in the centuries before us, there were so many love letters from one person to another. When it is written down, the person sending the letter can be clearer in their thoughts, and the recipient of the letter can understand the conveyance of the thought.
