Everyone picking the same 1st 11 and I can't see it winning the World Cup mate. Hope I'm wrong though. Just thought somebody might come up with an exciting new formation or team selection

What sort of exciting formations and team selections were you looking for then 12c?
Perhaps we could try a 4-2-4 system like they used to use in the old days!!
I wouldnt mind using a 3-5-2 formation but as we dont have any wing backs thats a no go at the moment.
If anybody else can come up with something different to the normal 4-4-2 i would love to hear it so i could then choose a different England team.

for some reason i thought carragher was irish....
with that in mind, i would feel totally confidant with him in for terry, king, ferdinand or campbell
he has been absolutely phenomenal for liverpool and has the confidence of all his teammates (and most importantly his keeper), and can direct the rest of the d and team quite well.

i find the inclusions of woodgate a little hopeful...one of the best defenders in england before his fateful move to madrid, for sure, but until he's back at match fitness and quality, he wouldn't even be on my bench, not with the strength that england have in the back-middle....here's hoping he recovers fully to his previous form

carragher got exposed at the weekend no pace, same goes for terry alright against weaker teams,if you are gonna play joe cole i,d put inside left, rooney will always drop back for the ball unlike owen, lazy player in my eyes.beckham can only play on the right, got no real pace to beat a man cant head a ball and cant tackle(just like george best said)best goal he ever scored was off the bench against deportivo,in his last season at man u,gerrard is key has to be fit and play in the middle, lampard oneside of him in tandem needs to learn to defend,a.cole ferdinand, cambell, king, all pacey dont need a sweeper as they can deal with high balls if you need a sweeper look to gerrard, depends on svens tactics,no more seria a ,boring holding onto a 1-0 lead didnt work last time.greece did it in euro,s but they did not defend as deep as england you could hear the goalie telling them to get the f**k out ,robinson looked jeckle at the weekend, and green what the f***,are you having a laugh, james has to go as cover.or kirkland, svens team is so clique, beckham would never start for me,can sell shirts in japan, but not in germany?

Robinson
Woodgate
A Cole
Carragher
Terry
Lampard
Gerrard
Beckham
Downing
Crouch
Owen

thats mine! Rooney doesnt pass the ball as often as he should/could!
Crouch can set up Owen, Owen can set up crouch, I'd make either Gerrard or Beckham the Captain and I'd DEFINATELY have Carragher in there!
(can you tell which team I support? lol)
Wouldnt have calaminity Neville (either of them) in the squad! wasnt sure who to pick in place of him though

Its not liverpool by any chance is it? Not a bad 11 but i wouldnt pick Woodgate at the moment as he has only just started playing again With R.Madrid.I think Downing is injured at moment to so not sure when hes coming back.

woody just got hurt again....what a horrible two years for him....

kirkland to back-up robinson....i really liked green, but it's understandable why one wouldn't choose him.
pollitt maybe? wigan are having a great year...but how old is he? (33)
admittedly, kirkland hasn't been getting support in front of him.
here's some save stats and a quote (i'll just check the date...)
from october 19th, 2005:

"Kirkland has been beaten more frequently than any other goalkeeper this season inside The Premiership's 20 stadiums with West Brom's 'goals against' column bulging with 16 strikes.

Amongst the English goalkeepers that have played in The Premiership this season, Kirkland currently has the sixth-best save percentage, with Tottenham's Paul Robinson saving 16 percent more shots than his England rival."

Player Team Goals Conceded Saves Save %
Paul Robinson Tottenham 5 25 83%
Michael Pollitt Wigan 4 16 80%
Jamie Ashdown Portsmouth 3 10 77%
Tony Warner Fulham 10 29 74%
David James Man City 7 18 72%
Chris Kirkland West Brom 16 32 67%
Kelvin Davis Sunderland 14 25 64%

only robinson and james have international experience, put that kirkland in a decent team and he will shine, same way as man u players who leave they look very very ordinary in other team look at butt, beckham, cole, yorke, pallister, the only exception i can think of is schmeichel as age caught up with him bruce was always slow .

no mention of andy johnson (i don't think)...anyone?
if he wasn't so loyal to crystal palace, he would be bagging goals in the premiership right now
i like him in for owen, maybe, and certainly ahead of crouch

Johnsons a good player Pilgrim but too similiar to other forwards who are probably going to be in the squad (Defoe, Owen, Rooney) Im no fan of Crouch but he gives another option when its needed (target man job) so I would take him rather than Johnson.

Pilgrim I like Johnson and would be happy if he signs for West ham but i dont think he is good enough for the England squad at moment.I would prefer Crouch,Owen,Rooney,Defoe.

i know this is harping on it a bit, but who should replace neville when they finally let him out to pasture?
i mean at right back
other than luke young, are there any good english right backs out there?
none come to mind
and young hasn't really had the experience at the senior level if neville is out for some reason (other than that neville doesn't have much in the way of defensive skills)

sorry hams but i dont rate johnson doesnt stay on his feet too well him and carvalio are the weak link in chelskis defence,i know one thing gary neville should not be playing there he has lost the little bit of pace he had looks crap since coming back from injury and has been at fault for a lot of goals at man utd .carragher is the only player in the squad to trust at the moment

yah, i agree, johnson isn't good enough now...maybe a couple years?
carragher has been so solid this term, but still won't get the start in the cup, sven's stuck on terry and ferdinand
they do make a solid centre d, but ferdinand is an a@* on the backline, he and van der sar can't seem to communicate well, ferdinand's always yelling back at him, which would annoy the s@#t out of me if i was keeper...maybe he and robinson get on better
