| Where would a guy find a deep thinking light hearted poet? Posted: 5/3/2005 5:40:46 AM | I am stumped, momentarily consternated if I reply in verse the thread may be relocated
A thread before after just one rhyming post off to "Poetry" was sent by our watchful host
so for safety although I could find a word to match word I will use another instead.

| Where would a guy find a deep thinking light hearted poet? Posted: 5/27/2005 8:39:40 PM | dirtyrotten ..... Where do you come up with these things?
<<<< Deep thinking <<<< Poet (among other things) <<<< Requires definition of 'light hearted' in order to determine whether I qualify
<<<< Lacking thick frame <<<< Not bisexual <<<< Requires definition of 'freak' in order to determine whether I qualify
dialtone ... I imagine there are plenty around. :)

| Where would a guy find a deep thinking light hearted poet? Posted: 7/30/2005 10:58:12 PM | ^^^That was some great verse!!!!!!!
We should have a baby just for that. But I am not going fishing nude with you.
The last time I was at Barnes & Noble I bought a very small book called "The Art of Reading Poetry", by Harold Bloom. I haven't read it yet. I may decide to first look for an even smaller book about how to read Bloom's book on reading poetry. Yes, I can be that silly.
In the mood for definitions, what I mean by deep thinking is someone whose ideas at least sometimes venture all the way in and all the way out beyond, so that they cover the entire range of human experience, real and imaginary. This is adventure at its finest, to me. I wonder if we all want this in a partner. It is about the depth and breadth of life itself.
By light hearted I mean to say there is laughter, a spring in her step, and while not always glib or care free, she will have a smile for the world and welcome happiness. This is about pleasure, good humor, affection, and appreciating all the small miracles we find in life. I think we all want some of this in a mate.
Poetry is about the meaning of things. It is the sight that sees past smoke and mirrors to the core. It is the eye's straight true path to the soul of the other. It is being able to look at a complicated situation where there could be endless confusion, and see instead the very simple heart of it. In other words, it is that she can see me, and love me, despite the noise I make, and then see that I love her, despite the clutter of my words. I think this is what people want when they look into each other's eyes.

Thank you, Random.
It's ok .... I actually don't enjoy fishing .... least of all ice fishing ... and definitely not fishing in the nude. LOL ... I may have to pass on the baby idea too.
If we had a Barnes & Noble here I'd help you with the search.

*sigh ..... I think .... hope ... that we all want that in a partner. Reminds me of another poem I wrote ... I'll have to find it.

Again, I agree. I believe that anyone who can appreciate the small miracles in life is also capable of finding a miracle where most wouldn't see one.

Beautiful. Maybe I'll reconsider that baby after all.

go to a JAVA HOUSE, check out an open mic night
(Chorus) Smelly cat, smelly cat What are they feeding you? Smelly cat, smelly cat It's not your fault
They won't take you to the vet You're obviously not their favourite pet You may not be a bed of roses And you're no friend to those with noses
(Repeat Chorus) | |

How does a deep thinker truly write about non-deep things and be fulfilled? I think deep, I write deep, I write moody songs, poetry, etc... If I wanted to write something light hearted, I'd write a children's poem perhaps.

| Where would a guy find a deep thinking light hearted poet? Posted: 5/15/2006 7:14:46 PM | She walks in spandex like the knight
How do I love her? Limping through the haze.
I know somewhere, her eyes fixed on the waving branches of a tree images play before her mind's eye alone on her blanket for two, lips pursed of lemonade lost in thought where I will find her
laying together my ear against her breast I hear the music playing lightly in her heart she holds on to me and wanders lost in thought deeper into bramble bush bemusements, crashing through thickets of conjecture barely pressing grass beneath feather feet
Not in the book store nor in the cafe
somewhere under this big sky, sipping lemonade

Posted: 7/31/2006 9:14:11 PM | She is not standing on the chair I cannot find her anywhere She does not travel by on stilts Nor do her potted flowers wilts For all the seeking that I do No sign of her in sock nor shoe Perhaps as summer turns to fall I'll spy her shadow on the wall And turn in time to hear her chortle At which time love will open portal Showing me the land beyond Where once we dock we'll slog upon
How many lights or lanterns lit must it take to find my fit?

| Where would a guy find a deep thinking light hearted poet? Posted: 10/6/2007 8:27:22 PM | For deep thinkers you might try peering below shallow people, to see whose ideas it is that buoy them up. For light-heartedness, sit back and watch any waiting room for the one who is smiling and not slumped down irritably entranced. Then for poetic I suppose you could endure the caffeinated chitter chatter of a coffee shop on open mic night, or a book festival at the fairgrounds off-season, if you mean an actual poet, or else if you mean a poetic disposition then stand downtown by a street with parking meters and wait to see who laughs when they find a ticket has been placed on their car.
Finding all three in one woman will not be easy, just because that type of woman tends to grow too good for life fairly young, and usually will rise up into a sunny sky one spring morning as angels sing. If you ever do find her, ask if she has a sister. I wish you all the best in your earnest search for true love.

| Where would a guy find a deep thinking light hearted poet? Posted: 10/6/2007 10:25:03 PM | | Oat meal, that was brilliant. I think I resemble this post, I am on the board of non profits, I do lurk in bookstores and at small local music events, an evening at home sewing is fine with me, and I'm often completely absorbed in my own world. The only way I'm going to find my soul mate is if he gets a paper cut when I happen to have a band aid. I think I have an idea what you mean by a deep thinking light hearted person. I have several elderly friends who have let go of the world enough and slowed down enough to really watch life unfold around them. Very rare in a young attractive person, (fair warning) the really beautiful souls, are in very plain packages. | |

| Where would a guy find a deep thinking light hearted poet? Posted: 10/6/2007 10:53:10 PM | I was kind of oblivious to the date potential that my poetry, or my advertisement for local poets to come forward to share their work for a show I put on, but Ok here goes:
Go to your local community theatre. Especially one that does contemporary stuff and host film fests and such. Volunteer to work the cafehouse or tickets where you can take breaks somewhere with your notebook. Go somewhere and start trying to write your own poetry. Someone will come up to you asking for a coffee or soda, they'll "spy" your notebook and ask you if you write or if you are a poet. That's how I got two of my best performers and networked with a bunch of others to join readings (spoken words) and got the word for my show going.
I have since made more friends in the poetry scene and inspired a protige' of mine to start his own show in which I'm performing in. And the snow ball rolled bigger.
Good luck. And if you ever want to, hit me up.
peace,
-Dam | |

| Where would a guy find a deep thinking light hearted poet? Posted: 10/7/2007 10:03:40 AM | | Hi dialtone. Well, I am a deep thinking light hearted poet, myself. But, I don't hang out at bookstores or coffee shops, although I love running in and out of such places after picking up what I need at the moment. I don't even go to those open mic nights in my college town. As a matter of fact, you will find me spending most of my time at home, possibly on my deck thinking or doing Sudoku puzzles before bed at night in order to get myself to sleep. Otherwise, I will be found in the grocery store, my kids' sports games, or running errands. The point is .... maybe you need to stop "looking". Just smile at anyone or everyone that may live right next door, or be on line behind you at the grocery store .... whatever. Be open-minded, smile at her and be friendly. Make eye contact with the girl you normally would not just for the fun of it. I know if I see a smile from a total stranger, in the least, it would make my day happier. Return to that same place at another time. Don't be afraid to approach and say something general like - "isn't this a nice day we're having?" Keep it simple and certainly do not "stalk." These few simple things may be just the right thing for you in meeting the right person. Try it and enjoy the benefits of what may happen next. And, NEVER NEVER be too hard on yourself if it doesn't go as far as you'd like it to. Good luck. | |

| Where would a guy find a deep thinking light hearted poet? Posted: 9/2/2009 5:46:24 PM | My, this is indeed a nice day that we're having.
Like wood has grain and grain makes bread and bread with jam is best in bed, so too does wishing on a star make wishing best when from afar, that from up close in fond embrace tends to get lipstick on your face.
I'd try some stone over turning to satisfy this endless yearning But nothing yet I know of she suggest that under stone she'd be Maybe stoned, and watching TV
Upon finding a whereabouts clue that suggests that I look in some boxes or open a chest Then so that I would do and inside them I'd peek for the sight of the pink of her sweet rosy cheek and listening, too, in case she might squeak.
High and low, near or far, on foot, afloat or by railway car some kind of distance between us remains in every dimension outside of our brains
and so on | |
