| Match.com and others Posted: 2/16/2007 7:50:13 PM | | This site is great! It took me a while and Match.com suckered me a couple of times until I figured it out that one time someone sent me an email and I had to subscribe to find out who it was. Now one day I decided to send out winks to about 300 people. Now you would think that you get at least 100 replys????? I mean only maybe 5 out of 300?? Are people that rude that they cannot even give a reply? That`s when I figured it out. Match.com is ripping people off big time! I even sent them a letter saying that I thought their website was considered fradulant and I wanted a full refund and I was going to report them to the atorney generals office in Boston. Hahhh, That was a waisted effort. At least here, you send a letter and you get a reply...Very good site! | |

To a wink? No, I think you'd get a lot less than a third.
Are people that rude that they cannot even give a reply?
Why do you consider it rude to not respond to a wink. The whole idea of a wink is to indicate interest in the person. No answer simply means no interest.
Match.com is ripping people off big time!
That I agree with. They've played the game to the max to get people to send them money. I've seen plenty to convince me that match.com is manipulating people with fake email and even fake dates. OTH I have heard a few success stories about match.com and they were from people I know in real life. But that's probably just a numbers game and I am certainly not going to be sending them any of my money.

| Match.com and others Posted: 2/17/2007 8:20:16 PM | Just wondering if there is a update to the lawsuits against Yahoo and Match? In reference to page 1. | |

| Match.com and others Posted: 2/17/2007 8:27:37 PM | | eek that 300 ewinks sent? You do realize that most paid sites have a large number of fake profiles that is set up by the site. A large number of them are likely what your winks went to. It took me awhile to catch on as well. | |

Why, yes, I do believe I know that. The fact that I've been saying just that all along and the fact that it wasn't me me that said I sent winks should have been a big clue.

| Match.com and others Posted: 2/17/2007 11:32:02 PM | Ok cupid is a good site just i find not a lot regularly use it. Like a lot of sites its like moldy bread in the fridge. I like that site over they have a rat hanging over excess periods of months if someone doesnt use it. The problem is with free sites people only get on if they have an email.
Singlesnet i joined over the free money back and they give a guarantee. So I did that and all i got was married women on there or women claiming to live close and lived in other countries. When i called to get my money back they had a time limit on how many days after you had and what a scam. So dont waist your money. The best paysite out there is hot or not. Never spend more than a few bucks value your money and buy something useful. rob

| Match.com and others Posted: 2/21/2007 3:15:16 PM | I'm coming close to the end of my membership, I canceled my renewal. Now, Match has brought out the big guns and is sending me winks/whose viewed you by good looking women (wow, all of a sudden). I'm glad I read through this thread and realized that it is a scam. I noticed something about one attractive woman (she looks like a foreigner, maybe Russian) who winked at me earlier and now again; she lived on one side of town and now lives on another side. Her portrait is shady - as there's a little substance; a paragraph and a picture. It's BS. I think Match takes pictures of foreigners, so they can't be identified, and they fudge a crappy portrait. The networks should investigate these dating sites. Fleecing of singles in America comes to mind. | |

| Match.com and others Posted: 2/24/2007 4:07:24 AM | | Ohhh Lord don't even get me started about Match.com. What a JOKE that place is. Bravo ( so far) to POF... so far so good! | |

| Match.com are irresponsible Posted: 2/24/2007 5:19:07 AM | Most people I've contacted use their AIM name as their screenname for the site. Also, occasionally they'll have a free weekend if you sign up, you just hav to remember to cancel. Even if you cancel immediately after sign up, you'll still get 3 days though. If you spell out email addresses and put spaces in between (like "myn ameatgm aildo tcom"), it will go through.
Hope this helps. :)

So if you paid by credit card, call the card company up and dispute the charge for not receiving what you paid for.

| Match.com are irresponsible Posted: 8/10/2007 2:03:46 PM | Many sites send out fake messages to get you to join. When I found that out I complained to the State's attorney and the FTC to get my money back. I contacted those who contacted me and some were fake profiles and the ones that were real said they did not send me a message. I'm in my 50's and I get suspicious when a 20's year old contacts me and says age does not matter. Beware everyone is usually out to get you. Miklala | |

| Match.com are irresponsible Posted: 8/11/2007 5:16:40 PM | I have not read any of the other posts but I have been on this site for 6 months last year and once the year befoe.
They do not tell you are members and can respond . So you may write your heart out to woment who can't even reply.
They charge to see if your mail has been read ($2.90 a motnh extra I think).
I have compalined to this site about not letting members know who the none members are so members do not wast their time.
Like talking to a wall.
If you have to try on line dating, at least POF is free and I admit that they have a halfway decent selection if you live in some areas.
But they seem to be more orinted toward Canadians from when I view profiles of peoplewriting posts. They mostly seem from some place in Canada.
And that is where the owner of this site lives.
I was on match.com for the above mentioned 6 months and did not get ONE date.
And they would not honor their promise of renewing your membership for another 6 months since I had joined about a month before this promise wnet into efect.
Give me a break.
Match.com and the othter paid sites are only about money.
I hope all paid sites they all go out of business.

| Match.com are irresponsible Posted: 8/11/2007 6:13:34 PM | Hi
I agreed with you and I stop post my profile on match and the sites that throw my money away just because the other contact member didn't pay their part.
Just stop posting there and see how they can come up to make the site works. It is rip off situation too.
They are not irresponsible, that is the way they make more money on hopeless people in dating
Thank you | |

| Match.com are irresponsible Posted: 8/11/2007 7:14:52 PM | | you can sign up for a free 3 day trial period on match. just run through all the women and write down there handles. join with cc and just be sure to cancel via email on the 3rd day, make sure you look for the experation time on the 3rd day. Of course, don't please don't do a form letter to all the women, this is a real turn off. Need to really read their profile and respond to something they have written. FYI, Yahoo.personals, will also delete their personal email add, but for some reason in my profile I have asked for them to include their phone no. They do and yahoo doesn't find that and it goes through. Go figure. I have profiles on many sites and I have included my personal contact info and I didn't do via. dot com. I did it another way but these men that write to me don't seem to be able to understand how I wrote it so they continue to write thru match, yahoo, etc. and of course I'm not a paying member on these sites so I don't respond. There is another site Singlesnet.com which is pretty good. Someone pays the bill but the receiver of the email can respond at no cost | |

| Match.com and others Posted: 8/12/2007 12:53:04 PM | To" abrethoffreshair: tried to email you to find out some of those 97 free sites, but since I'm a woman I can't get thru to you. Mind posting or emailing me some of those sites. Sure would appreciate it. I went to Connectingsingles but there were only 4 men in my age range. Slim pickens. | |

| Match.com and others Posted: 8/12/2007 2:24:30 PM | I was a paying member for two months on that site. It is really funny have meet more nice people from paying on a site than on a free one. I guess free doesnt really mean it is worth it. The fact people actually take the initiative to pay to respond.
I think many profiles out there are fake and most out there i have meet have major issues. Its amazing the people you meet on the net act one way and change over the course of talking or on the first date you get more out on the table.
A lot are two faced i have come to the conclusion with pof that many have or are dating or seperated or are married.
I dont know its a crap shoot..

| Match.com and others Posted: 8/12/2007 3:13:33 PM | Match.com is a joke. I have had a profile on it before and I didn't like the whole deviousness of it. Dr Phil can stick his 6 month guarantee up his bald @ss, that is for sure!!! LOL | |

| Match.com and others Posted: 8/12/2007 3:54:00 PM | I thought match and yahoo were great sites. Met quite a few nice folks from both. The only site I didn't like was eharmony and thats because men thought as well as women I'm sure that you should go out with them just cuz eharmony said you were a match. I think I like to choose not have someone choose for me.... | |

| Match.com and others Posted: 8/12/2007 8:35:15 PM | | gsr1197, I agree with you "Match.com" is a joke...I met some cool woman on the site..But cmon, better than POF, no way...At least there are real people on POF...Its funny jus as I was leaving Match, I started receiving winks, etc....the funny part was , it appeared hardly any of these woman existed and if they did...They lived in some far-off place like Africa or Russia....What a bunch of crap... | |

| Match.com are irresponsible Posted: 8/14/2007 11:09:41 AM | Well, there are ways around that, if you really want to know. I was on Yahoo for one month at a time, two or three times over the last two years. You can type up your email address like this: my_email at the big Y dot com (spell it all out and don't use @ or .com) and usually it'll get through the filters. It's possible that "domain" words might get caught in the filter too, so set up a Yahoo email address and use "the big Y" and people will know what you are talking about.
I got a few emails from people who didn't subscribe by sending them my email address that way. I dropped off Yahoo and don't care to go back, since the same people who are on there now have been there for the last couple of years, and there's really no point in being there.
|
| Match.com and others Posted: 8/14/2007 11:11:37 AM | | Pam, they don't tell you who is a paying member and who isn't because from what I've heard match and yahoo both set up "dummy" profiles, especially ones of "hot" women, to get men to pay to join. A site like this one has no reason to resort to such BS because no one has to pay to join. | |
