| Tongue Piercings... Posted: 1/5/2006 7:40:32 AM | Funny things, piercings. They're like tattoos, smoking, and extreme political views, in that they tend to induce extreme reaction from others, both positive and negative.
And as for the gorgeous Jo, you have every right to stick metal through your lip, tongue or wherever, but let's be honest here, bleugh! Still, I have some delicious voddy here in my freezer....x
Best wishes to my fellow Fishes.

| Tongue Piercings... Posted: 1/5/2006 5:24:29 PM | My eldest had her tongue done abotu 18 months ago. She knew I'd be fine with it but she was worried about my mum finding out.
We go to my mums about once a week for dinner & for a few weeks she sat there smiling with her mouth closed & saying very little to keep her secret. One night my daughter started kinda chocking at the table. She's got spaghetti hoops stuck around her piecring & was struggling to work it loose without my mum finding out. My mum found out that night & went balistic. I found it hillarious.

| Tongue Piercings... Posted: 1/6/2006 1:35:24 AM | | Helen it must be different for a women to have theres done as like l said there was no or little pain and got them done at the same time, thinking of getting the bellybutton done did you or have you had any problems with it. | |

| Tongue Piercings... Posted: 1/6/2006 2:45:39 AM | | bellybuttons can take anything up to a year to heal and can weep constantly throughout that time, but again it depends on the person. You should stick to titanium bars as many people have allergic reactions to surgical steel...once fully healed you can consider going onto the cheaper steel bars but they could still cause the wound to open again. | |

| Tongue Piercings... Posted: 1/6/2006 3:07:26 AM | I have never seen the point of pushing pieces of metal into a perfectly fine body just for pleasure..having had a few bits of metal pushed into me.. they were 7.62mm and 9mm respectively, both travelling above the speed of sound each followed by very large bangs and more than a cry of ouch on my side...... nope can not see the pleasure in it at all !!
ouch Nom | |

| Piercings... Posted: 1/6/2006 3:34:01 AM | It took my wound over a year to heal, and I've only ever used titanium.....6 months after having it done I took it out for half an hour for a hospital appointment, had to re-pierce it to get it back in....and even now nearly 2 years down the line, i am afraid to change the bar too often as it aggrevates it again. I'm not saying everyone has these problems, I know someone who had it done, kept a plaster over it for a month, took the plaster off and it was healed and has had no problems.
Even though I've had problems, I'm still glad I had it done, it was something I wanted for a long time, but was ridiculed by my family so never did, til I decided I didn't care what they thought anymore.
I would say, if its something you really want to do give it a go...it if causes you trouble you can always take the bar out and let it heal up.

| Tongue Piercings... Posted: 1/6/2006 5:46:31 AM | | I got mine done about 3 years ago....sure it was swollen for a few days, just eat a diet of jello and popsicles and you're set. Again speech wise it may be slurred when its swollen, but I really don't notice it anymore! Give'er! | |

| Tongue Piercings... Posted: 1/6/2006 6:31:33 AM | | Just a thought from the colonies.Every piercing is a trauma to the body. There is a reason that word exists. It's also an invasion to an otherwise sealed package. Infections happen in the cleanest of places[check out how many hospital surgeries get sued]and some can get pretty ugly.Just an opinion from someone in the field of dentistry. All the extra restorative work it creates is work we'd rather do without. | |

| Tongue Piercings... Posted: 9/22/2006 12:44:13 PM | Posted .....1/4/2006 11 21 AM wonders how it came about hmmmm....
Some people have no problem with tongue piercing and that's good for them.... Unfotunately my second time around getting my tongue ring done got infected. The infection is gone now but still not healing and my mouth is hurting like hell.I just recently took it off waiting for it to heal and completely closed in .I'll say about (4) hours it will be closed completely.I have a small mouth and small tongue so it's not working for me.
Tips: When your tongue gets infected...Buy GlyOxide and use it every 3 to 4 hours... Do not use Listerine buy your self Biotene a little more expensive but less painful.
It works for me i know it will work for you too... Do not wait till the infection gets worse.Make sure you get these products in hand and use it immediately.
Have fun with everyones piercing and take care...

| Tongue Piercings... Posted: 11/6/2006 2:02:36 PM | I had mine done about 9 years ago. I had it pierced with a PTFE bar and had no swelling at all. Lived on soup and ice cream for about a week though. I've one or two other piercings, the most painful one was my nose. I nearly cried when that was done. | |

| Tongue Piercings... Posted: 11/6/2006 3:34:46 PM | I would say go for it afterall if you dont like it you can easily take it out.
I have my tongue pierced again for the second time and really love it. Mine only took 5 days to heal the second time and i was able to eat normal food compare to the first time where it took 7 days.
Piercing can be very addictive I should know have 15 so far and already planning my next.
