have a small car but hate driving, unless nessecerry, cyle everywhere,so many drivers are ignorant, selfish and self obsorbed with there own lives-getting A-B as quick as they can,you need to chill out!!,cruise, have a look about you at the world and look at yourself ,i used to buy a new car every three years and realised whats the point?,its money down the drain, and dont get me started about people with 4X4s who dont need them!!,esp blinged up road based ones for the school run,how i laughed when the fuel prices went through the roof, serves them right,if thats who you gotta spend to keep up appearances i dont want anything to do with it,anyway i do appreciate fast cars, used to co-drive ralling, and miss it,80mph sideways through a forest is a buzz, but keep the daftness for competition!!

SUV's all the way. I own a 2000 grand am se and its a piece of crap compared to my dads 2005 envoy. I love the way SUV's drive, so smooth and it feels good sitting above most everybody lol. Its a shame their huge gas guzzlers.

Hiya Gang,
I've got a fun one that I love to drive.
Its my 1936 Chevrloet Master Deluxe Town Sedan.
Sure it mightbe 72 years old but it drive like a dream. It always grabs the attention of other drivers and pedestrians alike. Top speed is only 50mph and if you get close enough you'll read the sign that says "if you follow me you'll be late too"

here have a look: www . car domain . com / ride / 810854

If you see me driving down the road be sure to honk and wave.

For many reasons I hate most new cars, except a couple that are far away from my price range. I am fortunate that I have driven many exotic cars through my job, as well as mid rangers too.

My car of choice, i.e. what I would drive & DO drive is a 1995 Toyota MR2. Started life as a Jap 2 ltre turbo, but has been converted to a 3ltre quad cam V6, plus a nice big shot of NO2 for drag racing. Perfect in every way for me.

So now I want to get an '05 MR2....put on a Hass turbo kit...do some suspension work...oh yeah.

A friend of mine has a business converting Mk1 & Mk3 MR2's, putting the Jap 245bhp (as standard) turbo engine into these cars. They are SERIOUSLY quick because of the power to weight ratio. Modified with a bigger turbo.....WOW.

Toyota employs more West Virginians than all the other car makers combined. Most if not all of the 'American' car makers get parts from other countries. Besides my Prius I also own a Tacoma, which Toyota is about to buy back from me because it has some frame rust. I'll use the money to replace it with another Tacoma, bought used, so once again the money will stay here.

In fact, let's do the math:

I paid $8000 for my Tacoma to a local private seller six years ago. All that money stayed here in the U.S. Toyota corporate is about to pay me $11,000 to buy it back. I'll spend all or most of that once again buying a locally owned Tacoma of a newer year. So that's $19,000 that never leaves the U.S. once I spent it, and more than half of that came from Toyota corporate in Japan.

I paid $23000 for my Prius, then got $4000 back from state and federal tax credits, which I put straight into the principle on the car loan from a locally owned bank. The local car dealer and the car salesman got their cut out of the selling price. The local bank got the interest from the loan.

Making a couple of assumptions, let's assume the dealer and salesman pocketed $2000, and that I paid $1000 in interest. Between those two vehicles, I've contributed $11,000 directly to the local economy, and Toyota is giving me another $11,000 that I'll do the same with. Toyota corporate has received at most $10,000 from me once you deduct the Tacoma buy back, probably less, a portion of which they spent right here in the U.S. building parts and vehicles.

So because Toyota is the kind of company to do a voluntary buy-back of a ten year old truck with a small rust hole in the frame at $3000 more than I paid for the truck six years ago, I'm able to support the local economy to the tune of $22,000 and enjoy two reliable vehicles, the one I drive most one that minimizes my contribution to foreign oil and local pollution.

It's also worth noting that the local Toyota Manufacturing Facility has expanded steadily since being built here and is one of the most sought after places of employment in the state. They also have a stellar environmental record, including a zero-landfill practice that has put nothing into a landfill, not even lunch room waste, for over five years now.

Once the Volt becomes available I'll take a good hard look at it. The concept is good, but will I be able to fold the seats flat to sleep in it or haul long cargo inside if need be, allowing me to put less than 1000 miles a year on my truck? I can with my Prius. The good news is that fuel efficient or alternatively powered vehicles will be showing up all over the place soon. Then we can all pick the best option to serve our needs.

For now, I'll patriotically stick by Toyota.

Toyota has a no import policy I learned recently when my Son was hired by them. They try and produce in each country they sell in, the equivalent of what they sell there. Very impressive I think in this day and age when Ford , Chrysler and Gm are moving what ever they can to Mexico.

Wanted to buy one because of this reason. Afraid their trucks were just too much money though ( I need a tow vehicle) , so got the Ram instead ( 2008 models are almost half price , made sure I got the Kansas model though) .

The problem with Toyota for me, is their styling. Most models just do not appeal to me, rather bland shall we say to down right ugly. Great vehicles, reliable, fuel efficient, but I have to like the looks as well.

Hopefully in the next year or 2, when it is time to replace my Neon, they might have an update, something more appealing wise in the styling department. Afraid like most Japanese Companies though, they will go ugly. Ugly , does seem to be in now days . Then I wont mind the blandness of the Corolla and Camry I guess!

why do people need to drive big USVs? I can understand those who need the size for business / work use but seriously whats the point? almost like your trying to make up for a lack of something else somewhere else....

I drive a 2006 focus which I had from new, replacing it late 09 with another new car, looking likely to be another focus

I've driven everything from sports cars to sedans to trucks and suvs. The only thing I haven't driven is a minivan lol but I definitely prefer driving sports cars. I love the way they hug the road and you can go fast around curves with great handling. Out of all the cars I've owned I would say my favorite was the Honda S2000. The car handled really well. So well that most people say don't even mess with the suspension or anything like that because there's so little room for improvement. There may be quicker sports cars out there but that one is definitley one of the best handling sports cars.

My daily driver is a 2000 Ford Mustang that I bought new, however when it runs, the car that I prefer to drive is my 1980 Triumph Spitfire. It really blows some peoples minds that I can drive an almost 30 year old car carburated car, and I still get 30-35 mpg out of it. The reason that I prefer driving it, is that it is a true driver's car. Power brakes? Never heard of them. Power steering? Not on your life.

Also not too many of these cars are still on the road, so when I drive it, I keep getting the question, "What kind of car is that?" Usually followed by, "Where was it made?"

When it gets time to replace my Mustang, I'm seriously looking at a Miata, but I always have my eyes peeled for the budget British sports car to toy with.

This is the way i see thing.....although most of the time overseas companies hire ppl in plants over here. that really doesnt mean anything. the money that you spend still goes to the Corperate office in that home country. which inturn makes the GDP of that country go up.....then americans dont buy USDM products and wonder why we is struglin'

so with that said......the car preference Chevy Z06
but for an EDD Ford F350 w/ a 4in lift kit and 40in tires..covered in mud.

^^^^^^
I'm honestly puzzled by the affinity many have for lift kits and huge tires. Is it strictly an appearance thing or is there actually some mechanical advantage? I use my truck for truck work - hauling firewood and various bulky things around. More than once in the past I've swapped out the large tires that came on my used truck for conventional sized ones to improve my handling and fuel economy, not to mention shrink the cost of replacing those tires. And a lift kit just means I'll be more unstable with a load and have to climb higher just to get in the truck.

The only time I can imagine getting better traction with large tires is on very soft terrain like sand. On snow or ice or the dirt in my woods smaller tires give me more pounds per square inch of pressure which translates to better traction.

What am I missing?

I am a Chevy man and always will be. I have owned a 1990 Chevy Caprice, which all of my friends called the boat, a 1992 Chevy Lumina, and now a 2008 Chevy Malibu. I love that Malibu, the gas efficiency is great, it's comfortable, everything. Now all I need is the new Camaro and I will be satisfied.

Can i have a ride???
Seriously, I miss my ford explorer...It held everything that I needed and I could have really used it yesterday when I had to haul all of my craft supplies in a building with very little help....
I know it cost a fortune in gas, but still was a fun ride, loaded with every option, and I miss it......
