The most important thing is to cycle the supplements. So, your body does not get used to it. The directions on the bottle say "3 tablets 3 times a day before eating" , that's alot of garbage for your liver to handle. Hydroxycut just makes you sweat alot more at the gym. You could get the same effect by sitting in a sauna.

I still use it though, but only before a workout, stubborn fat is the hardest to get rid.

Good for you Eldubu. You should be proud of yourself. Don't do the diet pills/stuff though. I think you will regret it in the long run.

I have read thru this entire post and I am thoroughly impressed by the knowledge possessed and shared, I am truly thankful that I have read this. I have been battling with my weight my whole life, that whole yo-yo effect but after much thought and the fact that I am now willing to own my weight and face the fact that I gained it only I can take it off. So being the shy person that I am, feeling very uncomfortable working out in a gym with very physically fit people, I bought myself a piece of fitness equipment, dug out my old workout tapes, and the odd free weights that I own, even looked up weightwatchers online too. I have been working out for 1 week now, honestly the hardest thing to do is the motivate a couchpotato, so i actually moved out a chair in my livingroom and put the piece of exercise equipment in front of the TV. Now I honestly have no excuse.
Even though I have only been working out a week, I honestly feel better about myself, the fact that I am taking charge of my life and responsible for what I put in my mouth and how I treat my body. Well here goes one pound at a time to a better me.

Thanks for all your advise, I really have learned alot, and I will be checking in here often to find out more important info.

thanks again

not sure what you expected to find at "curves", naughty. middle aged women--you too will be someday, suggest you might want to rein in the negativity. remember, even your mom is middle-aged. they are there trying to work on their physical conditioning...why would you criticize them?

Hey Blush,
I like curves.....I work there...but truthfully....I was in the military for 19 years and worked out at many gyms....I really didn't believe in the Curves program...until I started working there...and it is really great and a positive workout atmosphere for women..especially women who need to be empowered and encouraged to workout....I am sorry naughty met b***ches at the Curves she went to....I actually go to work early and look forward to my shift....the clients are supportive of each other...no b***ches were I work???? Sometimes you get back what you give out....maybe naughty needs to adjust her attitued abit???? and maybe she won't met so many B***ches!!!! Just a kind suggestion naughty...I'm not being a B****ch..not my style!
Blush...if you r in Windsor....just call and ask the Curves if you can come in for a free workout!!! If they say no....email me back at my profile and I will make sure you get in to do one...keep up the great attitude Blush.....and enjoy your new lifestyle changes....they will pay ya back ten fold!!!!
You go Girl!!!!

cdnsmoothy: re: "Dr. Bernstein's radical program"

It is pricey yes, my best friend worked at his clinic for a year...she also said that he is an ***hole...but, it does work..There is no fogiveness with that clinic though..if you stray, you are "kicked out"...but, best of luck to those of you who do it. I have lost about 55Lbs myself, but, I did it through change of diet, and exercising. I don't belong to a gym, or take any "magic pills"....but, I found walking and a light workout out home helps alot. Stairs vs. Elevators/escalators etc...and, yes, losing any amount of weight, be it 5Lbs or 20Lbs is the best incentive to keep going! I'm aiming for another 15Lbs, and with the nice weather approaching...I can't wait to get out there more frequently.

If you are seriously doing the right things i.e. eating proper, sensible meals, and exercising and the weight isn't coming off, then before you reach for any "miracle" pill that can harm your heart, liver and kidneys, you should pay a visit to your doctor and have a TSH blood test performed. This test will allow your doctor to see that your Thyroid is functioning normal, and if not, they may put you on Synthroid, which is medication you take daily for the rest of your life to regulate your thyroid gland wihch in turn regulates your metabolism.

Years ago I tired Thermaburn, it did nothing. Proper diet, exercise and lots of water are the keys to a healthy weight loss, and one that will stick with you. Remeber you are not on a "diet", you are on a life change. Congrats to all who have lost and good luck to others beginning their regimen. This can be done without any pills!

OMG.. a lifestyle change is so difficult to do.. but I am sticking with it. Started on February 7 i will always be reminded that I am doing something for my heart. Today I was weighed and I have lost 14lbs. I am so excited. Even my clothes feel looser.
For me the very hardest thing to do is to avoid too many carbohydrates (I love bread and Pasta, i am not big on potatoes so i am ok there) What are some good alternatives to avoid that temptation??? any ideas?

thanks

Congrats Blush on your success! As for carbohydates, bread and pasta, there are many low-carb versions of bread and pastas available today, other than that, moderation is the key. Try and consume any carbohydrates during the daytime and stick with protein and veggies in the evening.

Understanding the glycemic index a bit for some of you will help you in your choice of foods and when....
Here is a good link for some helpful information....like I always say, train the mind as well as the body....
read through this and you will have a better understanding of the types of foods you should be targeting for your particular goal.

http://www.glycemicindex.com/

http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/issa5.htm

read up on it and see what foods will raise your blood glucose levels and lower them, and if you can understand how this works you can layout your diet plans with some better understandings of types of foods and when the best times to eat them are.

diets can work, but the reason there is a million of them out there is cuz not one will work for each individual, it's a matter of finding one that will work for you, your lifesytle, and your body type.....and don't forget, just cuz you take a diet pill or a fat burner doesn't mean you can ignore the other things like exercising and eating the right foods...some people think they can continue to eat junk and take the fat burner pill and it's gonna melt off....be realistic..

remember, you didn't gain the weight in a few weeks, so don't expect it to melt off in a few weeks also...be patient and still be realistic. That's where training the mind comes into play.

awaitingyu..........I've seen your posts here before (particularly around the nutrition area) and I have to compliment you on always being informed, sharing your knowledge and offering hope and guidance to anyone who asks for it.

I myself have started a health journey...and I have become somewhat addicted to "weight training" as u call it. I have been away from the gym for about 5 weeks due to a setback...but now I'm ready to get back.

I find the hardest thing is to stay on track with 6 meals a day..it is just too much work for me
When I plan the meals....then I stay on track ...when I don't then I cheat at times...

It's time to get cracking again....and meet my next challenge

so how do yo u plan or prepare your meals?...I"m wondering what you or anyone else does.

The other challenge I have is not eating enough. For a few months..i was working like a BEAST ..3x a week with a trainer and 3 x of cardio..the weight came off but way too slow..only to discover I was NOT eating enough..boy that was disappointing let me tell you.

Awaiting yours and anyone else's advise

I see it's been a while since any more posts have been added, but I thought I would update. I decided NOT to take any performance enhancers and go the best, healthiest route. I have had a hard time with it, but that is something that I need to work through. Being heavy is not only a physical problem, but it is the symptom of an emotional issue, as well. Simply taking a pill won't change that. I am working through it all, as I want to keep it off. Thanks for the tips everyone.

P.S.-I can't remember the name of the chick that was complaining about Curves having older women there...who cares? Are you there to pick up women?

And another person falls for the magic pill talk. There is no magic pill to take. You need to WORK for it by exercising and eating correctly. This is why America as a whole is unhealthy. People are too lazy.

I use Hydrocut Hardcore and it works for me.

The problem with these thermogenics are they are made for men. There are a few out there that are targeted for woman. Make sure you check these out. They are totally different and work quite well.

If you use thermogenics take them about 30 minutes before your workout.

Another one you might want to try is "Tight". They took it away from us in Canada so I had to go to the states to get it.

You should only use thermogenics for about 60 days and then go off for a couple of weeks.

Your body gets use to it then it doesn't work as well.

After you take a couple weeks off change brands and start the cycle over again.

There are many ways to get your metabolism going like eating spicy food, eating smaller meals more frequently and of course intense cardio.

Weight lifting is the best way to burn calories though so I hope you are doing that too.

When Hydroxcut had Ephedra in it I lost about 65 pounds on it in 4 months. I went off it and it all came back plus 35 pounds. Since then I am not using a drug to loose the fat. I am on Nutrasystem Nourish plan and in 18 days I lost 15 pounds just by eating right (their food) and excercise and plenty of water. If you can't aford the food they have a book called Nutrasystem Nourish. They don't keep it in stock you will have to order it, but it has some wonderful recipes in it and it is a great plan that works the right way.
