topless pics - makes the guy seem egotistical and/or figure that women are shallow and will only be interested in his body.
pics of guys holding cameras to mirrors - come on, be more creative than that...most digital cameras come with a timer
pics of your toys - depending on what it is....if you are a biker, show a pic of you riding your bike, not of your bike. Use the pics to show you and your interests. Just showing toys shows me that you are only interested in impressing the masses. Most of us are here for the people, not the toys.
party pics - if that is all you do with your life, then it shows who you are and I am not interested. Group pics from one of the POF meets however is different. Thats ok because then I might remember you at the POF meet.
Pets - since I am severely allergic to cats, if there are pics of a guy and his cats......sorry but I cant even read the profile. Dont want to be dissappointed because the guy is great and I cant meet him because I will be allergic to his clothing.
Gotta remember a picture paints a thousand words. What do you want to paint for someone else to hear?
On that note, I need to add that my picture of my Jamaican friend and I will not be on long.....it was just a fun pic from my xmas holidays. (Or should I leave it there? Whats your opinion?)
OE: I agree with spaceman.....other than to see if a guy can smile, everything comes from the profile. In fact, I usually scan for cat pics then read the profile before even really looking at the pics.

What they'd intended (I assume) was to prevent nuisance message based on a users preferences. Unfortunately the annoying people that really want to make a nuisance of themselves can easily get around all those restrictions. They should have just left them as preferences, imo.

Posted: 1/8/2006 10:25:28 AM | | You should note that all the things you don't like in a guy's pic can be found in girls' pics too. The "toy" is usually a dog or cat, sometimes a car or motorcycle. The no-shirt shot is a cleavage or bikini shot, and the mirror is an often-grainy webcam shot.. I'm guilty of most of these, but I AM a hermit..and my webcam takes pretty good pics. My toys and hobbies are part of who I am, and if, for example, frogs give you the creeps, there's no point in getting to know me. However, I don't need to advertise a bare chest shot - that's too much like Austin Powers "look at my sexay bo-dee". Besides, I haven't shaved my nipples this week

I'm on people's fav's and I haven't spoken to most of them! I don't know why men add me but never send me a message - what's up with that?
I don't like the cartoon, MONKEY or APE pics, where you never see what the person actually looks like. My pics are awful but I put up some! It's like they have something to hide.
One other peeve - people if you have more than one or two chins odds are you aren't average. Can someone explain what average is please? I see people on both sides of this too. People that shouldn't be putting 'a few extra pounds' do, even though they are average and people who's pics seems to show a pretty big person putting average. We need some guidelines on this...

Posted: 1/8/2006 11:04:40 AM | Well other than, smoking and drug use, i'll pretty much at least talk to someone... as for pics, it doesen't really that much, but after talking for a while, its nice to know who you're talking to if the nuber of people that have them on their favorites list is really high, i useually don't even try(well technically i've pretty much stopped trying anyways) other things that spell no for me are.. want tall... with lots of money...nice car(most poeple with money arn't that stupid when it comes to money matters, and don't look for gold diggers) (lol and i'm not tall..seems to me when someone wants height, and will put up with any charater flaws to get it, nothings going to cahnge that)
anyway i've actually pulled my pictures recently, just to see if that was the case of little to no responses.

| what is it that u find in peoples profile pictures that turn u off right away? Posted: 1/8/2006 11:50:04 AM | | omg I have to redo all my profile pics and my profile??? now lets see...I have all 3 of my cats pics on here..a have a close up head shot, couple of them actually, and have a pic of my dog on here as well...judging a person by which pics that they have on their profile is not cool, unless you want to see 1/2 nekkid shots, or yes I do have cleavage shots...but I am darn proud of my cats, they are 250 times better than most people, they'll never stab ya in the back, they always listen, ((more than most males do)) and I said most not all...we as people are different and what we choose to have for our pics is a choice that we as Canadians have. although doctored ones are uncool though. we all have different reasons for putting the pics that we have on our profiles on our profile.. | |

Posted: 1/8/2006 12:22:27 PM | Oh, oh, oh... just found an actual profile that illustrates my point about restrictions very well, because I could not believe it when I saw it. I had to copy and paste it. Like WTF was this person thinking. Do they really want anyone to get in touch with them.

here is some info on what 'average' is supposed to be http://www.halls.md/chart/height-weight.htm
I heard on Oprah (was visiting my moms - no I wasn't intentionally watching it lol) - she said that the national average for a woman is a size 14. Although I am quite under that - I posted that I am average. But I know what you mean. I have seen other profiles where even the men say they are average, but can be as big as John Goodman. I think its a self concious issue. I like to say I am average, but no skinny minnie - I have a bit of ole junk in me irish trunk - and proud of it.
People should realize not everyone is looking for a supermodel (men and women). I have seen some mens profiles on here that say they like a woman to have some meat on her bones - which is refreshing from the "if you are not on this side of skinny - don't bother emailing me".

Posted: 1/9/2006 6:09:07 AM | Speaking from a relationship point of view a good example of a profile turn off was "Dream Irene" profile. Posting half naked pictures and suggesting she wants "private encounters"...she added me to her fav's list.....I immediately deleted her. She went from 0-23 favs in a day and down to 2 the next....in fact blukat and I joked about it. Woman that want to play games or get attention through sexual innuendo are a HUGE turn off for me!
I believe the term is predator but sometimes they feed off your good heart....instead of your bad one. Depend on your point of view I suppose
Every guy wants a sexual woman, but not one that is sexual for everyone.....again from a relationship point of view that is.
For those just lQQking to get laid......any port in a storm I suppose.
