Posted: 2/16/2006 10:21:50 PM | | Spelling mistakes, maybe that's just because I'm a teacher but they totally turn me off. I'm not saying I wouldn't talk to someone who makes spelling mistakes because God knows I make them myself, but I think that in a profile where you are trying to attract someones attention you would atleast take the time to check it over. Pictures of thier cars and pictures of them with their ex's is a big turn off too. Oh yeah, and pictures of men that have just gone hunting and they are holding the animal they just killed. That just doesn't do it for me. Hope I didn't offend anyone with my opinions.

Also don't just have closeups from the neck up.
I only have close ups from the neck up because of three reasons... I take my own pics... the pic I had of my whole body is about 13 years old and doesn't look like me anymore... and I get less men asking for bare breasted pics.
I think even a mug shot is better than no pic at all.

| what is it that u find in peoples profile pictures that turn u off right away? Posted: 3/1/2006 12:21:32 AM | im still stuck on 'the dog thing'...(or cat...or whatever!)
yea...ok you've demonstrated that at least...someone (or something is sticking through 'it' with you...((if only because you feed it for no cost to itself...))... but REALLY... to wake up after a night of INTENSE sexual pleasure by some feline trying to nuzzle into your neck...my first response is ALWAYS to grab it and see how loud of a noise i can make with it as it hits the wall ONLY to hear some whispered mumblings about my FINALLY meeting fluffy and apparently ive achieved his/her approval...!!! 'MY GOD!' profile pic...'are the animals gonna be there ALL the time?'... ((what i REALLY want to shoot for in a relationship is that picture where you were smiling....))
p.s. i do love animals and all things living... (but what is it your advertising?...an animal house?...or a house with in animals in it?)

| what is it that u find in peoples profile pictures that turn u off right away? Posted: 3/1/2006 9:38:40 PM | Big turn offs for me
- the swilling beer shot - Tough to see someone as potentially attractive with that flushed, disheveled, untucked, rumpled look. OH yeah - and every see anyone with a good picture of them in the middle of taking a drink? - The expensive car shot - if it's a hobby great, if it's an old beater - we can swap break down stories. If it's something that cost as much as my house - what kind of self indulgent freak are you? If a girl is really going to date you because of the car you drive - chances are you will soon be selling it ( to pay your credit cards). Am I being judgemental - probably - oh well.
I guess I should take the picture of my dog laying on his back off - I thought it was kind of funny.
I let people know aobut my cat so guys with alergies can steer clear. Nothing like dealing with a bout of anaphalactic shock to make the night come to a close - unless it's a crappy date and he's an a$$ hole and you take him into the Wee Book Inn on purpose. (Here Kitty Kitty)

| what is it that u find in peoples profile pictures that turn u off right away? Posted: 3/4/2006 7:26:20 PM | actually wintery...the picture of the dog IS cute as heck...
but what i mean is that some people revolve their lives...(and most conversations)...around the animals...
"what do i think about abortion?....good question....BUT WAIT!!!!...here comes Fluffy... and i can just tell by the way he's walking that the weather is going to change in the next three days...how do i know that you ask???"
(its because i have no skill as a conversationalist...and neither am i at all confident of my opinion...(please tell me how i feel) but THATS everyone else's problem...NOT MINE!).
leave the picture wintery...it IS cute and a shot to show... but SO many profiles depict 'the pet' and try to express... "this is what i look like on a GOOD day!"...

| what is it that u find in peoples profile pictures that turn u off right away? Posted: 3/4/2006 7:41:39 PM | love me - love my cat
So whats the big deal about showing pets in pics? That should be the least of a persons problems!
But I agree with the 'toys' shot - if a girl is going to go for you for your car - be ready to get the old credit card out...
And guys - ya - the six pack shot is nice - but put some photos of your face or eyes in your profiles! Again - if a girl is going to go for you just for your body - there might be some problems down the road - especially if your six pack becomes a keg. Not all women are shallow and looking for that.

the pet pictures are not really all that unattractive...
(i suppose its just the memories and associations that are drawn when i see them)... my problem not yours...
i love animals...really i do... i've just found from time to time that they can be used as distractions to some real issues that 'may' need to be faced in a relationship...

| what is it that u find in peoples profile pictures that turn u off right away? Posted: 3/7/2006 4:16:26 PM | I deleted my old profile, pics and all.
Now I am just here for the forums.
Reason? I THOUGHT the pics showed me with the bright personality and lovely dancers legs.
What I wasn't aware of, initially, was the one shot was cleavage and got lots of the wrong attention.
So, I would prefer to just chat and if I feel comfortable enough, send a pic.

| what is it that u find in peoples profile pictures that turn u off right away? Posted: 4/8/2006 2:30:24 PM | A few observations from experience:
Guys with no pictures--there are usually three big reasons why a guy won't post a picture. 1. He's married and fishing, 2. He lives with someone and fishing, 3. He is so technologically incompetent he cannot figure out how to upload, and 4. He is pulchritudinally challenged.
As for turn offs, or bad ways to advertise yourself:
Big floppy hat and sunglasses, and standing waaaaaay back in the frame so you need a microscope to pick out features.
His ex obviously cut out of the picture, or a photo with several women hanging all over him.
He is holding a firearm, weapon, or dead animal of any sort, or an adult beverage and looking looped, cigarettes or cigars or worse yet a joint.
Photos of him with his reptiles. Big snake around the neck. (Yes, I have seen this! What was he thinking! What a chick magnet!)
Photos of him on his Harley, auto or boat are OK IF he also has posted a good head shot and another that shows three quarter or full body.
The eyes are so important; need to be able to see them.
I haven't looked at a lot of women profile pictures but a guy friend showed me one of the girl in her wedding dress!! Obviously an old wedding photo--and she had a 5 year old--so must mean she has not had any photos taken since, or has gained a hundred pounds since then!

| what is it that u find in peoples profile pictures that turn u off right away? Posted: 4/8/2006 2:55:01 PM | I hate to say this but I dont have a single pic of myself. I have been able to avoid all cameras and videos (including all the family weddings) for about the last 15-20 years! Well.. until partying a few weeks ago. I will only email that out if I think I might have something in common with "whomever". I just *hate* pictures. LOL- I am not ugly either!
So it is entirely plausible that pics of cats (or tatts) or funky party pics are all some of us have. The character of the person still shows through in the pic they represent themselves with. I am quite forgiving of that or the bad webcam stuff. Personally, I would rather see the party pics as I get a chance to see what their friends are like and the type of party they like. I don't care for nudity or sexually charged pics unless they are looking for intimate encounters.

| what is it that u find in peoples profile pictures that turn u off right away? Posted: 4/8/2006 4:11:52 PM | For me they are:
1. Poor grammar. It drives me insane to see things constantly misspelled. It's one thing to have typos, bu to not know the difference between "you're" and "your". ugh!
2. Pictures of their kids. I don't think that belongs on a site like this. It makes me uncomfortable. My ex actually does this with our daughter and his son from his first marriage and it makes me quite irrate.
3. I don't really care about the "toys" either.. More interested in the person themselves.
Those are the biggest things for me.

| what is it that u find in peoples profile pictures that turn u off right away? Posted: 4/20/2006 10:05:11 AM | | Pictures of a guy with women hanging off him most likely in a bar......a guy who's profile states "tired of the bar scene" yet his pic has him sitting behind a few empty 26's ( obviously not his of course) or the guy who has pics of all his cars/bikes/quads/house etc yet states " no golddiggers" Like really, what do you think you are going to attract showing off your possesions?? I get even more laughs from the guy who says "you gotta find out" when asked about himself. Like I am going to take the time to find out you really are an arrogant prick???? To many laughs lately off of here now that I am not putting so much onus on finding the one. He's out there ..... I think...... | |
