But the ones that really turn me off are guys that have someone take pictures of them in a bed or in the ocean. Like model shots. I mean seriously guys if you're THAT hot,why are you on a free dating site??

There's some seriously very gorgeous folks on this site! I didnt know that gorgeous people were excluded to a free dating site? Or for that matter a pay site!
Being gorgeous is not a guarantee of finding someone. If anything i bet for some of those gorgeous people it's probably harder. Ever heard that gorgeous women find it hard because everyone assume that since they are gorgeous they must be with someone.
I've got more issues with a stupid profile than with whatever pictures they have. If you're gorgeous use it! There's nothing wrong with it! Just like if you're smart...use it! | |

Research says just the opposite. Men frequently find very attractive women intimidating and thus look but do not approach. A relationship book in the 90's was dedicated to this subject. Seems although the idea of mating with an attractive woman is 'alluring' there is always the underlying fear of rejection and or being 'replaced'. The conquest may prove fun and challenging but the fear/need to fend off other suitors (even in his own mind) will usually have a man choose a woman less attractive and safe.
Ironically, if you ask a very attractive woman how frequently she dates or is approached, statistically it is much lower than one of average looks. Ask her how often she gets complimented by men on how she looks and again it is rare indeed! Studies show attractive students get more attention and higher evaluations from their teachers, good-looking patients get more personalized care from their doctors, and handsome criminals receive lighter sentences than less attractive convicts.
The ugly truth, according to economics professors Daniel Hamermesh of the University of Texas and Jeff Biddle of Michigan State University, is that plain people earn 5 percent to 10 percent less than people of average looks, who in turn earn 3 percent to 8 percent less than those deemed good-looking.
And Jay you just happen to look like the Asian new haircut guy. And obviously I'm not an expert on men's hairstyles but I believe you have the same hairstyle in your profile pic as well. So everytime I see your pic on here I think of that. lol. Don't feel bad, everyone looks kinda like someone. People tell me all the time I look like Dana White from UFC and I think that guys kind of a tool. What can you do?

I never said good looking people shouldn't be on a dating site.. but seriously have you guys seen some of these, tousled bed covers, wet open blue jeans shots some guys have.. or the all time fav of under the waterfall..
Good looking people are everywhere ..
Jay, as for striking a nerve, nope not even close. I'm pretty damn comfy in my own skin but am rather fed up with the fatty bashing that happens on here.. I'm just brave enough to say it. I'm not the only "fatty" on POF either.. LOL
Seems to me that you can discriminate against fat people all you want, and its considered funny, your "personal choice", in good manners but god forbid you say Asian, Black or Native.. How come its so different? If I said, I really dislike pics with faux mohawks or bad hair styles that would have been completely okay?
I'm fairly insulted you brought up the whole racist thing.. seems to me that being a white, female over 45, and overweight makes me a visible minority as well and people can put folks like me down anywhere anytime..
If I was to say that my "personal choice" is only men of certain ethnicity, would that be racist?

It was a long long day yesterday and I was pretty tired..
What I actually meant was that you didn't point out anyone else who could take pictures in odd poses and fool people. You mentioned fat girls who list their body type as average.
I agree wholeheartedly that if you are a big girl, admit to it on your profile because if you don't, you'll only run into this type of trouble later.. meaning someone will think you were deceitful.
I think some of those pics come from trying to take a great pic.. its hard.. and ya know, fat girls have feelings too. We try and look as good as we can, we know not everyone thinks we're attractive but being fat isn't a personality flaw.. its like having bad skin, or wearing your hair in an unflattering style. It's only a small piece of the puzzle.
I think the motivation from lying about it on POF is that they feel like they have to lie in order to attract anyone.
As for attractive people, what I meant if more the "model shots"? But way to twist the words around. BTW, I have yet to see a truly hideous person on POF. I think the majority of people are good looking.
Look at the girl that wrote that little soliquay on Craig's list, now she was stunningly beautiful but wow.. what character she showed eh? | |

how am i suppose to send a message based on that profile? am i suppose to write something like "hey girl, you wanna go hang out with your sister and then go at your mom's place for apple pie?"
