a person's smile makes for a good first impression
AMEN to that...
smile gets me everytime!!...I have a thing about teeth...
They dont have to be perfect, but they have to be there!
It is shallow though if you really like someone and the only thing that is turning you off about them is teeth!! We all have our little things that make or break a situation. But with todays technology There is nothing that cant be fixed.
How would you feel if you tossed this person aside because you didnt like his teeth and then a couple years down the road you run into him and he has this gorgeous smile and wont give you the time of day just because you dumped him?
just something to consider..

| tell me girls is it shallow to not date someone because they have bad teeth? Posted: 9/16/2006 12:29:44 PM | There can be many reasons for bad teeth, but there are even more ways to fix them!
No, it is not shallow.
I was talking to a guy on the phone--he seemed so normal, we had many things in common, he also was a homeowner, had a good job.
Then I met him. His teeth were bad, dark grey teeth, here and there, can't remember if crooked or straight, i think that part wasn't so bad. but it just turned me off. I mean, a lot of my credit card debt in the past was to take care of my teeth. It's that important, even if you don't have the money, charge it!
Nope, can't understand someone not taking care of their teeth.
and if that's shallow to some, so be it. and i am a *face* person, that's what's most important to me, i have to be attracted to his face, eyes, something in the expression.

| ? for the ladies Posted: 9/16/2006 1:07:42 PM | terminallycute; I have invested a lot of money in my teeth, and unless there is a medical problem that cause his teeth to look that way, then I would want to have the rest pulled out and get dentures. they look natural. my late husband had dentures and they looked so natural. As far meeting up with him years later and he won't give me the time of day, then I will cross that bridge when and if i come to it. sorry, that is just the way i feel. | |

| tell me girls is it shallow to not date someone because they have bad teeth? Posted: 9/16/2006 1:09:30 PM | If anyone was to ask me what was one thing I look for mostly on a person...I would say teeth. Bad hygiene...means bad breath...and that just turns me off....I like to kiss and if someone has bad breath due to poor dental hygiene...I ain't kissing him....ewwww! Besides who wants what they may have eaten yesterday in their mouths....Yes, I know it's gross... | |

| tell me girls is it shallow to not date someone because they have bad teeth? Posted: 9/16/2006 1:24:13 PM | there is dental care in most civilized countries on this planet..
it is up to the individual if they decide to persue and use it..
I too have spent alot of money for a nice smile...
I am just saying that, to overlook a person that you really have alot in common with because of teeth that can and maybe fixed somewhere a long the way...is shallow
you asked our opinions...please dont get upset when some dont agree with your own

| tell me girls is it shallow to not date someone because they have bad teeth? Posted: 9/16/2006 4:05:41 PM | | Well what about small gaps? Are they a turn off? I mean i have a really nice smile and people tell me that all the time. But im really self-conscious because I have a gap in between my front two teeth about half the size of one front tooth. And its genetic, my mom had it and so did my grandma. The dr. said he'd have to do surgery and cut up the skin between my lip and my gum thats too short therefore pulling them apart and pull it all together with wires and what not. Ouch!I dont know if i want that. THey arent missing, just gapped. But im always really worried about it... | |

You have to do what will make you happy. If going through surgery and changing your appearance may suit your taste then go for it.
The main topic here is having nasty teeth or missing teeth all together. I truly don't believed your in that category.
Take care | |

You are too right about the British. I was married to one. "Bad skin, bad food, bad teeth, bad attitudes and bad weather"....
Damn!!! Have you ever been to England? I have quite a few times because of good friends living there and it's not better or worst than in the US.
Are familiar with the lack of dental care in the UK? Are you??? I doubt it! It's not because you were married to someone who didn't took care of herself that all from the UK are the same.
The people I know from England have AMAZING smiles.

| That crazy teeth issue.... Posted: 9/17/2006 2:58:35 PM | A sexy smile gets me everytime, I also have a thing about teeth. We can't turn off the turn off from bad teeth, it's innate. When I say bad teeth I mean many teeth missing, black or all over the place teeth - items that make you do a double take when the person smiles.
It doesn't matter to some people but I cannot stand bad breath and things in teeth and spit in corners of his mouth...ick....I've driven boyfriends crazy making them brush their teeth (and I brush mine too, this is not one sided) before they kiss me because it bothers me that much when there is bad breath. My teeth are not perfect but I use a whitening toothpaste and I understand if people have darker/stained teeth from smoking and coffee but I neither like or drink coffee and I really dislike smoking, so I am not entirely sympathetic.
Minty fresh breath, nice pearly whites, soft lips, passionate kisses.....damn good combination.

| That crazy teeth issue.... Posted: 9/17/2006 3:15:59 PM | The guy I am seein currently is missing some teeth due to getting kicked in the face doing Tai Kwan Dou. He does not have bad breath and is very clean type person so I know he brushes the teeth he has left. I spoke to him about this and he wants to have implants, but they are $1,500 per tooth and no way has he got that kind of money. He has a good job but has a igh mortgage and is barely making it. I have even said I would help him out with some of the cost but he wont take money from me. One of the many reasons I care for him. His ex spent $5,000 on dentures that dont fit properly and she doesnt wear them, thats why he doesn't want dentures but would prefer the implants. Should I dump him because of the teeth? He would look much better with all his teeth but he would still be the same person. I wish he didn't have this problem but I don't think I will let it break us up. He never has bad breath and is very clean. | |

Posted: 9/28/2006 5:31:09 AM | Yes thats shallow, I had teeth that were a little crooked back in the day, but had since got braces on and off. See all you players that wouldnt date a girl because you her teeth are missing out on hotties like me..just get with her and buy her some braces....as for bad hygiene yeah thats gross!

| tell me girls is it shallow to not date someone because they have bad teeth? Posted: 9/28/2006 6:25:06 AM | I'm a real fanatic about nice teeth...... they are about the first thing everyone notices about you!
If a guy doesn't have nice teeth.....he doesn't get the first date with me.....
They don't have to be perfectly straight....but they have to be clean and white and none visibly missing!!
I want a guy already "good". I don't want to have to change him or his habits!!

| ? for the ladies Posted: 9/28/2006 9:01:01 AM | | No, not at all. I think teeth are very important, it reflects good health and how much care someone puts into themselves. They don’t necessarily have to be perfect or straight for that matter but certainly white, no plaque with fresh breathe. It’s really not too much to ask for in my opinion when you figure the amount of time you spend kissing someone you are involved with. | |
