| Chivalry defined from the Round Table Posted: 1/15/2005 12:45:20 AM | Oh knights and maidens, hear my words this 'chivalry' doth make you nerds please rest and quaff some ale from gourds before you trample me in herds
Now, elfs and orcs in stories written dames distressed and scoundrels smitten valiant knights who'd save a kitten the little boy who lost his mitten (sorry, got carried away there) ... Sir This-And-That you so revere who fought with mace, and lance and spear and thrice in battle lost an ear but never once succumbed to fear did not exist - is this not clear? he never walked upon our sphere nor held a lover close and dear and had no code which to adhere adore him not, and shed no tear - no wizards did to him appear he had no friend, no foe or peer not Lancelot or Bedevere for they as well were never here
Well, Cervantes told us of a knight Quixote, who, in maddened flight on Rozinante did alight with Sancho Panza clear in sight and challenged windmills to a fight 'tho in his head he was not right (he once fought sheep with all his might) on chivaly he shone a light and let us see its piteous plight
So, such tales are naught but fantasy an idle thought, a reverie in French it would be 'la folie' to take these stories seriously i don't deny that you are free i only wish you'll hear my plea wake up my friends and you will see a place i call 'reality'
And Furthermore, move out of your parents' basement!

"And Furthermore, move out of your parents' basement! " Lol.
Sometimes I feel like I am pushed to the basement but its my own. Yesterday was hell.
I have to deal with reality often this is an escape but metaphors to disect reality. I am in here mainly to entertain some ladies (Not doing well lately) But also to release steam or share things in life through poetry and read others input.
But anyway no offense taken the other day.

| Chivalry defined from the Round Table Posted: 1/15/2005 9:51:28 PM | Last glimpse of night, my eyes heavily lay To pondering thoughts of what lies ahead. Tomorrow’s welcome, seemingly far away, Questioning the journey, leaving today For an unknown realm where souls yet to tread.
With a faint lamp fueled only by a past, And a staff fashioned from mistakes to guide, I’m able to walk in a world this vast. Capturing heart felt moments as they last Staying the course with courage at my side.
In a passing door into tomorrow I met with wisdom as she spoke her name A vision given not just to borrow And saw a man's face that shed no sorrow Clasping tightly to feel one in the same.
I stood near footsteps of tomorrow’s dawn He had vanished but left a still small voice. With my staff and lamp as yesterday’s gone I thought of him as I traveled on Was that a dream or an awakening choice?
AWAKENING CHOICE BY Me
TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I- I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.
The Road Not Taken Robert Frost (1874-1963).

WEEPING MANY LYRICS ALONE
The verses from life's stormy doom call attention to your distress The struggles through a dreary gloom hopes for your hurting soul to rest Dark storms can show a world of light for it reveals our true nature Battered, torn, not a chosen fight a heart broken beyond measure Many nights to bathe your weary soul in the raging seas of tears Fierce thrashing waves of trouble roll fiery words to conceal your fears Anger, justifiably so weeping many lyrics alone Hurt from deceit you can't let go beautiful soul turning to stone Let the fragrance from your fragile heart breathe sweetness instead of pain The sea will calm when winds depart left to rest in the quiet rain

| Chivalry defined from the Round Table Posted: 1/16/2005 12:28:34 PM | Though troubles assail And dangers affright Though friends should all fail And foes all unite Yet one thing secures us Whatever betide The promise assures us Our faith will provide
Stand then with all great might With all your strength endued But take to arm you for the fight Wisdom that foe's are subdued Find forgiveness to employ As you let the past go Turn these angry drops to joy And send the pain below

| Chivalry defined from the Round Table Posted: 1/16/2005 10:14:33 PM | Again very impressive work. The theme White/Black Yin/Yang is very thought provoking.
I especially like the line
"White to Black, long the Memory, Gray of hue, the current slavery."
Definately fitting wisdom for this thread.

| Chivalry defined from the Round Table Posted: 1/18/2005 9:04:08 AM | Dragons, a fabulous winged creature Fierce in battle with a valient nature
Sensible and cautious to Knights that prey Not lured by the enticing words they say
Clever and poised, she stands firm and ready Instinctive to harm, plods slow and steady
A Dragon's loyalty will ne'er depart But no friend comes easy she guards her heart
For this Knight this is an admirable trait She's undeserving of a perilous fate.

| Chivalry defined from the Round Table Posted: 1/18/2005 9:09:52 AM | The fading sun is leaving me this day Pondering thoughts what comes tomorrow's way
Will there be great tidings or more sorrow Only the dragon see's what's tomorrow
Spreading her wings to morning sun rising Ascending high into the horizon
Dressed in black and scarlet and scales of gold Claws of iron and eyes of emerald
Swiftly she flies encirculing the earth Quickly above before my day gives birth
Descending through clouds, her powerful essence Intense heat and fire, by her mere presence
Her soaring downward swoop casts me to earths floor Prior to falling I saw tears at her lore
Why did the dragon choose to spare my life? She could have smit me in her hurt and strife
My heart moved in compassion for her pain And a reverance for her mighty reign.

| Chivalry defined from the Round Table Posted: 1/18/2005 9:13:12 AM | WHEN THE NIGHT FALLS
The lonely walk on a cold November eve. On the brink of winter, the last fallen leave Howling wind shifting you on a straying path. The brown, crumbling earth as frost has laid its wrath. Lost and confused, reaching forward without sight, While the dark, new moon sleeps at the crest of night. Stumbling aimlessly helpless from way to way. Fear of the unknown, long from the break of day. A sudden screaming wind casts forth its vengeance Shoving you through briers with no resistance Pounding you to the ground as your clothes are torn The moon’s back is turned the trees bristle and scorn Not one star can flicker a glimmer of light Swallowed up from the woods at a distant height. Yet you crawl finding the path left trodden Slowly to your feet, courage not forgotten The wind has now past but the forest still dark Faced with a blinding journey you must embark. But listen as night stands still for a faint voice A friend seeks providing you hope and choice.

| Chivalry defined from the Round Table Posted: 1/18/2005 6:28:32 PM | Seasons
Some friends are here for only a season Guiding our journey with thought and reason Keeping our paths straight when we are drifting There to cry with as burdens are lifting Sharing in laughter, bringing a bright smile Walking beside our road mile upon mile Sharing in our lives and destiny. We hope they follow the next season to be
The leaves are changing. I felt the first frost. The dusk of this season. The warmth is lost. The growth seeds the soil for the dawn of spring. What new life shall come when birds start to sing? I wonder long after leaves have fallen When snowmelts and flowers shed their pollen Is it another season we will share? To laugh, to cry, to smile and show we care?
The old folks ask how many friends are true? When you count on your hand those that you knew? For how rare if you can count up to five In the time on earth you remain alive. Your friendship has been true this I do know. I held in faith those words the deeper we’ll grow. Are your feelings and mine one in the same? How many seasons will I count your name?
Please understand my honest confessing I never intend to steal your blessing. To harm the innocent beauty of your heart To take from any that share that part. But truly I state I’m weak to lose a friend As the frost sneaks in at summer’s end. When that coming day has breathed its last My heart shall sink, as you become my past.
I will treasure the memory of you Laughing at silly jokes and gestures too. Comforting my sorrow, sharing in tears, Giving me courage to stand midst my fears. I will remember your smile and sweet sigh, The mischievous look and that winking eye. The fun and games in all our childish play But the dearest was your unselfish way.
In a distant future, time yet to be While I’m peering out into a vast sea As the sun sits where ocean and sky meet Feeling crashing waves break among my feet Reflecting on seasons of yesteryear And counting all the blessings I hold dear I will remember you as I reminisce And can say you will be greatly missed.
But when you wake some bright, sunny morning And hear icicles melt and birds singing Will you recall the time long before? Laughing and crying with a friend you adore Will you see me chuckling at my own jokes? Will you talk of me to other old folks? And as one true friend will I still stand When you count who was real upon your hand?
By Me
PETAL TO MEMORY, TEAR TO DEWDROP
As the years go by, the seasons must pass The leaves to fallen, the water to glass Breezes to blizzards, and the rain to snow Moments to memories from long ago
See that flower on a bright early day Golden petals with dew dripping away And that sweet aroma that I adore Signs of that time many seasons before
Petal to memory, tear to dewdrop Whispers of love to make a heartbeat stop Sweet to perfume, adore to the moment Remembering the time we once both spent
Dewdrops are falling, but only inside Petals of the past that I cannot hide Pluck a petal and wipe away the dew Then hold me tight and make the moment true
By Me
Solitude
Laugh, and the world laughs with you; Weep, and you weep alone. For the sad old earth must borrow it's mirth, But has trouble enough of it's own. Sing, and the hills will answer; Sigh, it is lost on the air. The echoes bound to a joyful sound, But shrink from voicing care. Rejoice, and men will seek you; Grieve, and they turn and go. They want full measure of all your pleasure, But they do not need your woe. Be glad, and your friends are many; Be sad, and you lose them all. There are none to decline your nectared wine, But alone you must drink life's gall. Feast, and your halls are crowded. Fast, and the world goes by. Succeed and give, and it helps you live, But no man can help you die. There is room in the halls of pleasure For a long and lordly train, But one by one we must all file on Through the narrow aisles of pain.

| Chivalry defined from the Round Table Posted: 1/18/2005 6:38:05 PM | WHERE ANGELS FEAR TO TREAD
The smell of snowflakes, reflection of light We walked together for half of the night You speak this wisdom that my soul gain sight.
“In still winter’s dusk can you hear the call? The howling wind is whistling, its voice shall drawl It speaks quiet peace to all who may fall.
A time will come and troubles you may face I shan’t be there to comfort and embrace But where angels tremble you may find grace”
We stood in this silent lucidity Your words were a part of my destiny Forever given for eternity
In all the laughter and sorrow we shared I ne’er questioned how much you loved and cared As you freely gave midst the cross you bared
Sometimes we suffer not knowing reason As life strikes us like an act of treason Why did this have to be our last season?
As you lie helpless, tears stream from my eyes Watching you pass where the unknown realm lies Last gasping breath as you say your goodbyes
It’s now winter as I lie here in bed The wind whispers those last words you said “It’s time to go where angels fear to tread”
Catch the blessing
Did you ever walk into a garden of roses, Smell a bouquet of carnations dressed in greens, Gaze into the glass filled with red sparkling wine, Or relish the sweet succulent juice of nectarines?
Did you ever lay your head to a silky pillow, Have the sensual taste of strawberries and cream, Cuddle in a blanket to a crackling campfire Or drink the quenching water from a mountain stream?
Did you ever savor a warm soft September breeze Smell fresh fallen snow on a December night, Fall asleep to the sound of gentle rain in June, Or lie staring at August clouds drifting from sight?
Did you ever hear crashing waves midst the moonlight beach, Watch the fog roll in across the quiet seas Be moved by the gusting winds high atop a mountain, Or watch a falcon glide far above the trees?
Did you ever reminisce with a wise older man, Listen to the laughter of children at play, Spend a little time teaching a child to ride a bike, Or breathe in deeply the smell of Christmas Day.
Did you ever notice each day has blessings to catch? Will you grasp tightly to each passing moment? Or are you consumed with all of life’s struggles Missing all these precious blessings as each day is spent?
Just a few poems to share before MTF departs.
Really enjoyed the poetic story danny. Will be anticipating the conclusion. There are a few Dragons on here that are on the side of chivalry. There stuff has also been much enjoyed.

Proud Robert McGee
There’s a man from Harborstan His name is Robert McGee A genius in calculus Proud of his doctorates degree
Loud to speak, scoured the meek Filled with self-admiration Then a lad, a grade school grad Wisely asked him a question
"There’s six crows sitting in rows ‘Til you shoot one of them down How many crows sit in rows Now that one is on the ground?"
"Anybody past grade three Will know the answer to this There are five still sitting alive Unless your poor aim shall miss."
"Sorry sir you're in error Commonsense you display none A dead bird and a shot heard No more crows but the dead one"
"Just one dead bird, how absurd You are right I missed one fact There’s a fool past third grade school That can not add or subtract.”
Mr. McGee as schooled as he Thought that he was very smart No delight to see the light But only to speak his own heart

| Chivalry defined from the Round Table Posted: 1/28/2005 9:22:27 PM | A Very Serious Look at CHIVALRY
Where have the tales of chivalry gone to from these pages? The tales of Knights and Maidens fair and Magic through the ages It seems the Knights are resting now or maybe gone away The field is now the Dragons.... If we want to play
Maybe we will play the game and speak of something new We will speak of chivalry from the Dragons point of view
We Dragons are a fearsome lot... or so the stories say Awesome teeth wicked claws and breathing fire all day If that was all there was to us then surely you would find That Dragons would no longer.. come easy to your mind
When Merlin needed wisdon he went into his cave He went to visit Dragons... not to Knights so brave And look how many Virgins came knocking at my door Just hoping for a Knight to come.. so they could see some sport
The Knights would don their armour and clamber on their steeds Then wander through the countryside bragging of their deeds Think what sort of Hero a Knight could really be 300 pounds of armour soon brought them to their knees
Yes they lived the purest lives... It could be no other way To try and get their armour off took them half the day And if a "mighty armoured Knight" ..more through luck than skill Slew a "fearsome Dragon" he'd want to show his skill
He would cut the head of and parade it through the town But think of when the battle was the other way around and the "mighty Knight of chivalry" lies roasted on the ground What then does the Dragon do with the morsel he has found?
We will try to look at this from a modern point of view You have no can-opener and a tin of Irish Stew
I REALLY enjoyed writing this Commenters will be gratefully incinerated
