Roots To Stand

Near a running stream stood an apple tree
For many seasons living peacefully
When the hot summer droughts were at their worst
The stream provided that the tree did not thirst
It grew and rested in the open field
Having plenty of apples each harvest yield

Another tree faced times much more arduous
Growing on a hill droughts were more viscious
Lacking water its fruit wilted and dried
It had to press deeper into the hillside
Years passed before roots reached a water pool
This was life's adversity for survival

One day both trees met with calamity
The winds of fury struck without pity
The tree by the stream fell to the ground
But the one on the hill stood tall and sound
The years pressing on midst sufferings hand
Produced roots that gave it the strength to stand.

What is the course of our new generation
Making up the rules without reservation
Cursing the old as black and white is smeared gray
Morals becoming relative to the day
Have you heard, right is now wrong and wrong is right
Attacking truth and honor is the new fight
It’s the master plan to imprison what’s just
And excuse transgressions to pursue their lust
Many are dubious going with the trend
Like waves of the sea tossed about by the wind
Fooled in trickery to this deceitful plot
Allowing media to confound each thought
Minds open to this twisted reality
Will perish quickly in perverted frailty

Do not be anxious for tomorrow
Better today to tend to sorrow

Sometimes we have to readjust
And be careful whom we entrust

Many times we have to face pain
Its the necessary path for gain

For if you continue pressing
Someday you'll see the blessing

Some wise sayings I never fully developed so i am just posting them as is.

1. From the cave mold rapidly increases
Exposed to light its existance ceases

2. Unless corn suffers dry summer weather
Harvest will yield little ears to gather

3. Warriors are sharpened by life's afflictions
Fit to survive larger tribulations

4. Some problems root like the dandelion
They can not just be mowed down

When we choose these quick fixes
Come morning long ugly stems abound

5. The integrity of the upright
Guides them to safety

But unjust people are destroyed
By their duplicity

A change of pace. Something non-serious but to make folks think.

The Sanity Of Insanity

In my life of temporal insanity I'll
Express each rational thought
For on one hand I am indecisive
But on the other hand I am not
Here I'm living in the facade of some
Unknown realm of relativity
Finding myself walking aimlessly
In a rendezvous with uncertainty

Where an understatement is a billion
Times worse than an exaggeration
But it is the clearest path
In a deep discerning world of oblivion
So I have decided to select pre-destination
As my course in life
It may lead to the world of never-ever land
Where I can relax in strife.

So where is such a place as this
It's where I have my doubts about disbelief
I will share with you what I have learned
It's the folly of wisdom that gives relief
It is the unrevealing truth
Of duplicity that keeps us all honest
You must stay alert and always be
On the lookout for conspicuousness

I am still quite uncertain
If I really understand ambiguity
There is this increasing worry
My life doesn't have enough anxiety
I have this nagging fear everyone
Is out to cause me paranoia
Yet it is my greatest fear
That I remember every repressed phobia

One morning I woke up dead
Discovered there's no such thing as non-existence
I avoid cliches like the plague
And one thing I can't stand, it's intolerance
Prejudiced folks-all alike
And this world's full of apathy, but I don't care
Yes, there was a time when I thought
I was mistaken but it was an error

The relevation that my identity
Lies in not knowing who I am
Some would say I am indignant
But I curse those who judge others to be d*mned
Some people claim that I am superficial
But that is just on the surface
Some say that I am self-righteous
But my ways and my words are never off base

Some say I'm vindictive but I tell them
It was accidently on purpose
Some say I have a foul mouth when angry
Who says I am angry when I cuss.
Some say I have a drinking problem
But I do not have a problem drinking
Some say I need to stop to think
But fail to tell me when to resume thinking.

It's my practice to always try to do things
In chronological order
Being patient has me real anxious
If I don't succeed, I may risk failure
If I better understand recursion
I must first understand recursion
I'm not redundant by repeating myself
It's Deja Vu all o'er again.

I over heard Santa Clause explaining
There is no such thing as make believe
I met a stripper at her club and she said
There isn't nothing up her sleeve
I personally think exaggeration
Is not all it's cracked up to be.
Perhaps the delusion of illusion
Has become the sole reality.

I leave everyone with my greatest advice
Do not chew with your mouth full
If at first you do not succeed
Then not going skydiving is the best rule
Do as I say not as I do and stop
Listening to the hypocrate
I can promise life will be like a cherry
Eat the fruit be left with a pit.

That last post was meant to be amusing filled with a bunch of oxymorons. Often times here at POF the feedback forums can get like that and just confound the mind. Especially in the current events. Lol.

Next post back to something serious from a parable.

Would you be so foolish
As to build your house
On the sand
As the streams rise and winds blow
No longer will the house
Stand
Yet how often do we hear
But do not practice
What's right
Just like the house crumbled
So will fool's be crushed
In the fight

Could have been a bit better i think, but i gave it a shot anyway...

"Fight Night"

Hearing crowds, cheer and roar
from a dimly lit, little room
where a coach, does his chores

rub downs and wrapping hands
one man, ready
too make, a stand

gloves are on, lased real tight
getting ready, for a fight tonight

for this night, two men go in
but only, one will win

running, was my constant companion
so i can, last longer
hitting the bag, gave me more power
so i can hit, stronger

training, i say
night and day
believing, to win

no room for doubt
for i'll win, this bout
on this, very day

the time grows near, the announcer speaks
calling my name, as crowd begin to cheer

ding... ding... the bell, does ring
marking, the start of the match
for the time, his here

for two contenders, are we
entering the ring, man to man
pain to pain
for all, too see

one will be, victorious
the other, will die in shame
for two, modern day warriors
will make war, this day

hand too hand
and battle, of wits
for muscle blows
but, many psychological hits

modern day gladiator's, are we
training body, mind and soul
to fight, you see

who will win, this fight?
the man, who'll remain standing
this night, will be

This poem will be posted in both threads not sure which topic it belongs in.

When The Pieces Don't Fit

Thousand pieces scattered about the floor
One to another slowly to restore
Connected parts revealing a story
Like the evidence before a jury

The stimulated imagination
Musing over this obscure creation
Mystery unfolding with each find
This development entices the mind

First disclosures in the imagery
The rocks and sand meet with a tumbling sea
Long strands of grass stringing through a sand mound
And a large boat sailing into the sound

Two hands join when two more pieces affix
A man and woman, the picture depicts
Strolling the beach gazing at each other
Towards the sound and a distant harbor

Couple more pieces ‘til the puzzle’s done
Needed to assemble the horizon
But in total frustration none attach
Similar in color but still don’t match

What over shadows from the unknown sky
Unanswered questions where the futures lie
Love is like this puzzle so it would seem
Pieces don’t fit complicating the dream

A picture will sing a thousand verses
Ponder like the songwriter rehearses
What’s in the portrait other than the sky?
Is this pair saying hello or goodbye?

Is the love built on a rock or on the sand?
When the waves collide how long will it stand?
Will grass keep sand dunes from blowing away?
When the boat docks who will go, who will stay?

Resolve rests in the faces of the two
The eye of the wise will see what is true
Love’s puzzle, piecing the difficulty
Their countenance speaks the verses to be

A person who does not stay on
A straight path
Made clearer
Is like the one who
Looks at their face
In the mirror
But after looking
Forgets the look
Of the reflection
Careless in their standards
And aimless in their
Direction

No one ever said
Walking the narrow path
Is light
We all stop to smell the roses
Off the trail,
Losing sight
But if you lose your way
Then listen as the winds
Whisper
A still small voice calls for
All, your sight will
Become crisper

Hello, Black Knight... I hope that your doing well... I wanted to come on by and write a spell... For things, have been difficult as my poem, will explain... Hoping for better times, on higher, plains...

"Retreat"

Went too retreat, religious place
for men, too meet
gave us cermons, to teach
other things, in life
that be

prayer meetings, sorrowful confessions
many looking, for answers
in life, you see

our leaders, told us
that things, would change
but first, things would go wrong
too test, our faith

they sure, weren't kidding
for downslides, my life has been
till now, feels like an eternity

losing friends, one or two
promising relationships
broken, in two

seeking, higher power's
is harder, than first thought

for much sacrifies, i've endured
for last few days, at too much
the cost, i'm sure

no more, hidden surprises
i can't stand, for i am human...!
no stone nor iron, i am
just a man

i feel pain and sorrow
hope, it's only part of the plan
too tear me down
later to lift me, to higher ground
again

for, i don't know
how much more, i can take
cause, there are times, when i feel
i may break

i guess...?
the soul is being torn apart
too see, if i believe
with a steady, heart
beating, within me

hopefully, things will all change soon
giving me hope, in this life
i choose, too cruise

giving me, insights
too all... good things and pure
for this, lonely heart
is seeking, to endure

Well Gerry the valleys are not very pleasant but on the other hand its where the fruits and vegetation grow. Not much up on the mountain tops so we have to come down to be fed.
I do hope things get better.

STANDING IN FAITH

Standing in crossroads of life, too many options to make
In which direction to go or what vehicle to take
Deluge of tears in the valley, mountains overshadow
But find comfort in rod and staff and flood's become shallow
Let go of misleading words that have us peering at our face
Everyday we fall short but get up and finish the race
The wisdom from another should impart confirmation
To what the wind already spoke that gave the revelation
Self made guilt, self fulfilling prophesy, left downtrodden
Holding on after confessing, doubting that it's forgotten
Some problems root like dandelions, they can't be mowed down
Choosing these quick fixes, come morning long ugly stems abound
We are at constant life long war with the carnal mind
But with each morning sun to rise, new mercies to find
Get out of the dark cave where mold rapidly increases
Expose oneself in the light where it's existance ceases
Mighty warriors are not born but made by life's afflictions
Roots to stand firm, fit to survive larger tribulations
It's faith providing us with assurance of things hoped for
Belief of things not yet seen to opportunities door
Everyday we face trouble but there's blessings in disguise
If we look at the glass half full making choices for the wise
