Posted: 6/15/2007 3:59:54 PM | | Not sure if clever is the right word.He didnt always write words that flowed logically but rather how they just sounded and he often changed the words in the studio just to get it to sound the way he wanted.Whatever he did, it obviously worked.How many other artists can have this kind of inpact and discussion long after the fact? | |

I think he had his own talent, like the band Sublime. Its sad theyre both dead. | |

Posted: 6/21/2007 8:13:21 AM | Personally I lost all respect when he played toesy with that damn shotgun trugger. Sure, he had a knack for lyrics, and his voice was, despite being what most people would call "trash", true to him. It wasn't some dolled up voice that you could tell was electronically manipulated into something better than it really was. Hell, the only 'pop' artist that has any real vocal talent that I can think of that's come about in the last few years is Christina Agulera [That girl can SING]. Not necesarily a fan of the music, but I can respect the true voice that they have.
Dave Grohl was the most talented member of Nirvana. Sings, guitar, drums... all quite well too. | |

That was certainly a part of his genius.
You can feel the depression in his lyrics and music.

"You must feel the same way your parents felt when you told them Hendrix died eh?" I realised what he was saying so I dug into his music. I can see what my nieces and nephews saw in him. Sorry I missed the ride. | |

But in my assessment after a decade and a half we can see real talent that sprang forth from that band. Dave Grohl is an amazing musician in his own right. And I believe he probibly played a bigger part in the genius of Nirvana than we know. | |

Nirvana,Pearl Jam,..and a few other bands changed the face of music for a generation to come,,,I would like You to tell Me how it is better off with out them..please back this up?????????????.........the charts say differently.
Kurt Kobain.....was a nobody that made it out of no where,
this crap I hear on the radio now ...papper cut out bands, make Me sick it all sounds the same,
Just to play devil's advocate here, you could argue that music is bad today because of them since technically, it was their influence on pop culture that brought you all the watered down, generic crap you have on the radio today.
All of your Nickelbacks and your 3 Doors Downs and your Seethers ultimately happened because of the Seattle scene making the shift in popular music from cðck rock to alternative rock.
Personally, I loved all the Seattle bands. That was a fun and exciting time to be a music fan.
I'm also curious as to what bands Just Smile would defend as being superior to Nirvana. Not saying there aren't any. Just curious as to which ones he considers better. | |

Pass the pipe dude....Kurt Cobain was an EXCELLENT well above average musician all around. And he didn't kill himself. Courtney Love killed him.
